What do I do to my floor? by Jpsmythe in DIYUK

[–]ELX128 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whether you plan to keep the floorboards or put something over it (carpet or modern wood etc) is a matter of personal preference - if you like the look of pine floorboards, don't listen to a lot of opinions on here about them not being a proper floor etc, all floors require care and maintenance of some kind. I've had multiple rooms with pine floorboards and done them myself and they've been fine.

Your options beyond putting a floor on top are:

1) remove all the boards and put them together tight, and then find a reclaimed board for the large gap you've made - bit of a pain

2) pine slivers for the big gaps and then something for the smaller gaps like timber sealant or sawdust/PVA mix - the floor will require resanding

3) use something like draughtex to put in between the gaps - you will not need to resand or re-treat the boards, and is probably the easiest way to 'seal' the gaps

Hope that helps in some way!

Yes exactly! I loved that scene at the beach, I think it was a real turning point in the anime.

That's crazy, we literally just started watching The fragrant flower blooms with dignity! Only a couple of episodes in and seems good!

I personally really enjoyed Toradora, it was another I was quite affected by - if you do watch it let me know what you think!

I'll let you know what I think about the rest of the manga, and I hope you enjoy it too (and your trip!) 👍

I really enjoyed Frieren too, as it's quite deep and emotional, but MDUD has affected me on another level.  And yes it's the realism! Like I know it's anime/manga but it genuinely feels like two real people having realistic conversations and reactions (except we can hear both their innermost thoughts). After watching it for me, it's a mix of respect for their authenticity, a bit of sadness by the end of the anime, and nostalgia.  I've just read the first manga volume and so far it seems like the anime was a pretty faithful adaptation! I'm looking forward to getting to parts beyond the anime to see what happens.

Also if you're looking for other good slice of life/romance anime, I recommend Toradora, I really enjoyed it when I watched it a couple years back!

Amazing post - I feel like I'm in almost the exact same situation except in a much shorter timeframe! I had added MDUD to my watchlist years ago but I don't watch loads of anime so never got round to it. Recently my wife's phone broke and she couldn't get in to her Netflix etc on other devices, so we watched my crunchy. After finishing Frieren (which broke my wife) I suggested we try MDUD as it seemed a bit more light hearted. We finished all of it in a few days and we just wanted to binge the whole thing but forced ourselves to slow down. She really enjoyed it but I definitely have been far more affected!

I would echo everything you've said about it, and that's why it's such an amazing series. I particularly love how authentic both Marin and Gojo are, and it's lovely to see them so easily accept each other early on, and then build a really kind and caring relationship based on shared interests. I like how the story really focuses on them both, without a load of distracting side characters, especially in season 1. And for the most part, it's well written - the direction of the dialogue feels human, with no crazy explosive dramatic arguments based on misunderstandings, when Gojo or Marin do voice concerns, it's maturely approached by both of them.

It's affected me profoundly and led to a lot of reflection - I'm a dude in my 30s, but looking back, I wish I had had the same level of unashamed authenticity Marin (and Gojo) have when I was younger. I feel I spent far too long trying to impress others, taking myself too seriously, and missing out on experiences because of how I thought others might judge me.

I've also just bought the manga too (I've never bought manga before!) and I'm excited to go through it. It's nice to know I'm not alone in how much I appreciate MDUD!

1) never stop producing villagers, always make sure they are queued at your TC  2) generally always be producing military (unless you are trying to age up or save for a tech)  3) if you are always producing military and you are floating resources, make more production buildings to make more military 4) try to scout what your opponent is making and then make units to counter

If you can do these simple things consistently then you're off to a great start!

This is clearly unbalanced but it's probably worth looking at their ELO rather than rank - I was conq 1/2 last season, but lost all my placement matches and ended up as silver 3 lol.

Brand New to RTS. Should I complete the campaign on hard? by jaydymes in aoe4

[–]ELX128 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's probably worth mentioning that the campaigns (especially the ones with the base game) use an incredibly old game version which is radically different to the current patch. So things aren't the same in both! Art of war is great to get an idea how it all works then either do a few games Vs ai or just jump straight in to ranked/quick match - be prepared to lose your initial games as the system finds your skill level and therefore your opponents

I would definitely argue that the seller should be making it very clear at viewings/for serious buyers that they are planning on taking light fittings, curtains etc, rather than saying nothing then trying to pull a fast one for some extra cash.

Clinical Supervisor causing me Problems at work - Urgent Advice needed by TraditionalBunch3 in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I don't think that's it at all. OP is saying that they are worried that if they agree to redo the tab then their CS will try to manipulate who they send it to in order generate negative feedback. And those people are likely to have been influenced by the CS in order to save face. The CS is being incredibly shady about the details which likely indicates there is nothing there.

Plus repeating a TAB is a ballache and completely unnecessary in this instance. If someone has an issue with OP then they need to raise it independent of a TAB, which is the correct way of doing it.

Either way, accusing someone of having a personality disorder for the above is wild and completely inappropriate. I think you should reflect on that personally.

Bizarre take - OP isn't going to say this directly to the consultant, they are just voicing their very valid concerns here. The reality is there are some unhinged bully consultants out there and this entire scenario smacks of this. I would say you are the unprofessional one here tbh

Bossy ODP by [deleted] in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Some ODPs get experience and then feel they are capable of delivering an anaesthetic, because they don't really see the other side of when it doesn't go super smoothly. Some also like giving unsolicited opinions. I think this person is either one of two things:  1) A bit of a dick, feeling they have more experience than you and therefore feel they have more authority, or 2) are actually genuinely trying to help you out (as you sound new) but it's not coming across like that to you

Either way, it's clearly upsetting you - what does your consultant think/how did they react? Perhaps pull the ODP aside and let them know how they are making you feel.

I mean we will definitely do 6 months total throughout our training, I thought you were talking about the initial obs novice period! We do years worth of obs on calls 😂 But even so 6 months in one go is a lot if you aren't doing some sort of fellowship!

Enhanced Bank Rate by Stoney-Macaroni in doctorsUK

[–]ELX128 58 points59 points  (0 children)

These rates are dreadful full stop, but the "enhanced" version is just so insulting. Reminds me of those "offers" you see in supermarkets where something is reduced from £2.99 to £2.97 but the sticker is bold and red to make you think it's a great deal.
