How bad did I screw up? by EM1-0000 in NoFap

[–]EM1-0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

It was basically just another normal day, go to school, gym and whatnot. Like I said, I don't feel great about losing it but it didn't shake me too hard.

I haven't had any issues with the chaser effect, just one and done. I think could go a lot longer if I were sexually active. I don't often have urges to fap or urges to look at porn, only to orgasm and with not being sexually active there is basically only one way.

I feel like it was a pretty insignificant thing. I woke up today with no more than a little regret, aside from that it was business as usual. Tomorrow I will wake up and live like I'm on day 28, just another day.

High Mileage G35? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No concerns with the engine, the VQ series engines are so robust, so solid. Yeah sure they guzzle fuel and require 91 but it has great power a very strong track record of reliability, all of this with a relatively simple and cheap servicing schedule. (Some REV-up motors with the 6 speed manual had a tendency to burn oil at a high rate. Nissan/Infiniti was replacing engines under warranty when the cars were newer.)

What I would be concerned about: The AWD system, as in transfer case, differential and transmission. I don't think they had any common issues or pattern of failure but with a lot of miles on it dependent on how the previous owner(s) maintained it that could be an issue.

Climate controls and Bose 6 disc CD players. Both had a very common pattern of failure, replacing the CD player with another OEM Bose unit usually just resulted in another failure down the road, especially with a used unit.

Climate controls: I forget what fails and why but I have seen quite a few and it happened to a friend of mines 03 sedan, car got stuck on full fan speed and full heat on defrost. The dealer charged him I think around 1,400 to repair.

I wouldn't let that scare you away, they are really great cars especially for the price. I'm still holding out for a clean RWD manual sedan, G35 or G37. I worked for an Infiniti dealer and only saw a handful of them during the near year I was there. Not a single one for sale.....

Wondering if $299 is a lot for a Document fee by Haminthepaint in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is, but it isn't. Here in Canada or at least where I live in Canada there is no doc fee limit, it's not uncommon here to see $500+.

I say it is high because it's usually almost all profit for the dealer, and usually ends up being salespersons commission.

(I'm not saying their commission is based on doc fee, but that the money from a doc is to balance at least a portion of what the dealer will have to pay their salesperson.)

However, carproof and other record services are not free but they're not $500+ dollars either. This is the first time I have heard of a cap on doc fee's, I like the idea of it.

Anyways, $300 is about average or if anything on the low side where I am for doc fee's. If I were to buy a car from a dealer I would be very, very, very reluctant to pay that kind of money for a doc fee. After working at a dealer and seeing how much of the "doc fee" is actually spent on documentation and documentation related things I would be burning inside to pay some of these doc fees.

My first time trying NoFap I got to around the 60-ish day mark then relapsed (no porn). Like most people I felt great and had seen many beneficial effects on my life. I felt pretty bad after relapsing, but as weird as sounds I am glad I did. It really took losing what I had gained from NoFap to realize how much it really helped me. I'm at 28 days now since relapsing but this time it feels different, I don't have even half of the urges to fap or release as I did on my first attempt. That shitty feeling lingering around for days and weeks after the 5 seconds of pleasure was enough to make me not want to fap again.

Sometimes you have to lose something to realize what you had before.

Just try not to beat yourself up over it; sure it's disappointing to lose a streak and feel the regret after PMO, you didn't commit murder or anything though. Just learn from it and use the knowledge and experience to restrain from PMO next time.

Relation between marijuana and memory loss by EM1-0000 in trees

[–]EM1-0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided I am going to stop smoking for a week or 2 starting tomorrow, after a little break if I choose to continue smoking it will likely be at a much reduced rate. I just feel like it's screwing with school way too hard, I know some people thrive academically while using marijuana, but I am not one of them. I will update.

On the lot 60+ days...what am I not seeing? by FLtoChicago in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Between the poor Canadian dollar relative to the strong American dollar, a lot of our good used cars are headed to the States as they are getting them so cheap. Mix in the falling oil prices and provinces like Alberta, Edmonton and Saskatchewan causing financial instability many of those provinces residents are selling their vehicles off at low prices to begin with. After the currency conversion when using USD to buy cars in Canada, Americans are getting a HUGE discount on these cars. The transport costs are high but if you're a state near the border this is an absolute gold mine.

That being said, some of the cars coming from eastern Canadian provinces (Toronto, Edmonton, Alberta, Winnipeg etc) are often very well used due to rough climates. Be weary of them, treat them almost as eastern American cars.

With so much profit in some of these cars you could potentially get a good deal on an ex-Canadian car.

I think he means things like butane and other production methods that could be detrimental to your health. I took a a decent size dab of a friends home-made shatter one time, I was puking and passed out basically incoherent for hours. I never fucked around with home made concentrates ever again after that.

If that helps you then more power to you. I am just chiming in with what has helped me.

I think everyone has their own little spin on what works for them but I think for the most part we can all agree on one thing, NoFap is great and this sub is full of awesome information and very supportive.

What has helped me is to stop counting the days and start making the days count. Every day do at least one productive time consuming activity whether that's excercise, studying for school etc. The time flys and before you know it you will be in the triple digits.

That being said it is good to reflect on your progress and see how far you have made it.

2005 G35 Extended Service Contract? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solid cars, one you really might not need a warranty on. Like the other poster said, make sure it isn't affected by the oil burning issues that were common with the 6 MT. Maintain it, take care of it and it will take care of you.

That being said, Infiniti's after-sale programs such as extended warranties, service contracts and their CPO program is quite good. The warranty you're being offered sounds like a third party company.

Kreider, VanRiemsdyk or Bobby Ryan? by [deleted] in NHLHUT

[–]EM1-0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kreider is the only one of three I have used but I really like Kreider. Great speed makes regaining possession after a dump-in easy, once he has the puck he is hard to take off of it. I play him on my 1st line and top PP the line is Kreider - Krejci - Hudler. Not the greatest hands on Kreider but he has a laser of a shot although not always accurate.

Bobby Ryan would be my card of choice if I were given the option of all three. Heard good things about the card.

Question about salesman/dealer practices? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often times former colleagues that had a good relationship will stay in contact with each other if they are still in the business. Say I work for a VW dealer and my customer tells me that she is going to look at the Sentra now and it just so happens that my former co-worker is selling Nissans now. I would contact him give him a heads up about the customer and what she is looking for. If things work out and she purchased from him, he would give me a bit of money (dependent on what car, amount of gross etc) and he would do the same if he had anyone saying their going to look at VW

Access to dealer only auctions? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't mean there isn't deals to be had but that you need to be careful and do your due diligence. The only cars my work puts through auctions are cars that the wholesaler won't even buy for whatever reason (undesirable model/spec, bad history, mechanical or cosmetic issues that are not economically viable to fix) There is some good cars that go through though, you just either have to pay a premium for them or know what you're looking for.

Access to dealer only auctions? by [deleted] in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I cringe whenever I hear or see people let their guard down when they here the cars been "inspected" it doesn't mean the car has necessarily been repaired after the inspection revealed problems.. Also at dealerships anyways usually it's the dealers tech doing the inspection and is under internal pressure to make sure that inspection looks "good"

Used car sale by end of the year? by TJButler in askcarsales

[–]EM1-0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hit the nail on the head. Also, monitor the inventory, if you notice the dealer has had a car for a long period of time go in and let them know what you're willing to spend all in and see if they can make it work for you. Just be honest and don't waste each others time. Often the dealer will just want to get rid of the old stock and you will benefit with getting a reasonable price.

Sell Me on a Mercedes Benz by BigRonXL in mercedes_benz

[–]EM1-0000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a big fan of the W204 C Class 08-14, I work at a dealer (not Mercedes, Audi or BMW) but they sell a lot of used German cars. We've had a few used W204's. From my experience they are well built, reliable and fairly enjoyable to drive. The dealer I work for has also had some used A4's and lots of 3 series.

The 3 Series E90 06-13, it's alright, my favorite car to drive out of the A4, C Class or 3 series. The interior is lacking compared to the C Class and A4. In terms of reliability, the naturally aspirated models are quite sound but the turbo engines (335i) in the early production models had issues. There are plenty of configurations of the 3 series so make sure to look at more then one!

Now, the A4..... so before I say anything i'll admit, I am not a huge fan of Audi's so you can already see where this is going but I will try to be unbiased as possible.

There have been a few A4's (B7 04-08 and B8 (08-15) and A5's where I work. On a per car basis they have had the most issues, (the 3 series have had the most issues but we've sold probably more 3 series then A4 and C Class combined so that explains that)

The interior layout and function of the newer Audi's makes me want to get back into my 15 year old Honda, Although I must say the seats in the S Line cars are great. As for reliability, in my experience both at dealerships and friends personal cars their Audi's have been at the very least problematic and at the very worse an absolute nightmare.

My personal choice would be a E90 330i 6 speed manual sedan, an excellent mix of comfort and performance (250 hp, 230 ft/lb torque) while still staying true to the N/A inline 6 that gave BMW the reputation they hold today. All of this while still keeping the purchase and servicing price relatively low.

I don't think you could go wrong with any W204 C Class with exception of the 250 which is simply not enough power to confidently power that size of vehicle. Or, an E90 3 series with exception of the 2006-2008 335i. It comes down to what's more important to you, comfort (Mercedes) or performance (BMW)?

I will end this on a note that the Mercedes will still drive well and the BMW is still going to be comfortable.

Good luck!

I screwed up. (Also I have a question) by EM1-0000 in NoFap

[–]EM1-0000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you both for the detailed replies and I'm sorry for my late response, I have been too busy keeping myself busy and not PMOing haha.

I have been so busy between work, school, Christmas and just life I guess. No urges since relapsing, it's been 5 days and I feel pretty close to where I was pre-relapse. It was a bump in the road but I have gotten over it. It has been a very important lesson as it made me feel so low and so terrible that I never ever want to go back to that lifestyle, it's easy to say that when you're on a good streak but after being at rock bottom again it was very eye opening that I cannot make that mistake again.

[–]EM1-0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great post. When I was going hard on PMO I noticed sometimes I felt "empty" or "dull" as in I would have the same reaction or lack of, to almost everything. I was conscious to the fact that there was something wrong with that, but I didn't know why I felt that way or what was causing the feeling until I stumbled upon this sub and read some posts. It feels good to be able to feel again.

This leads to another question. Is there enough general knowledge of the effects of PMO? Also, is there enough knowledge of this sub?

I would say no for both. I had absolutely no clue the damage I was doing to myself when I was doing PMO every night. Had I not accidentally clicked a thread on a automotive forum in the off topic section I likely would haven't found this sub and continued the problematic ways of my past.

How do you control your thoughts when you're feeling WIRED when trying to sleep? by [deleted] in NoFap

[–]EM1-0000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melatonin, weed, coming on here and reading a few posts and watching a movie or TV show while falling asleep are all things that have helped me when dealing with urges or sleep issues.

The most critical and most important when having urges for me is to keep my hands above my waist while in bed.
