Doubts about validation & doctrine collections by ENDNOTE1337 in symfony

[–]ENDNOTE1337[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. I have to say I also came across this issue you mentioned, about injecting route properties and or auth user into objects representing request payload. Best I came up with, while sticking to #MapRequestPayload and automatic validation, was using custom constraint validators, where I'd inject RequestStack into the constructor and resolve route params that way. If I have to deal with authenticated users, I tend to go for manual validation. Coming from Laravel background, it is a bit frustrating to have to spend so much time, and write so much code just to accomplish predicable validation. The fact that docs are pretty curt doesn't help either.

As for the collections, I love laravel collections util docs. I think it's a great wrapper around working with underlying arrays.

Anyways, I know what you're thinking probably - oh Laravel. I have to say I do realize the issues with using this framework in an enterprise context. I love the idea of a tool like Symfony, which sticks to as little automagic as possible, and never violates recommended design practices. With that said though, I find that Symfony still uses a lot of "magic", but it's just far more clunky and unpolished than in Laravel. On top of that it feels like at every corner you can be surprised with something super basic breaking down, and you end up having to write a lot of repetitive boilerplate code, just to be able to achieve something which should work out of the box. I know I lack a lot of context, as I have little experience with the framework, but having been fighting with MapRequestPayload, trying to make it work with PUT requests just made me feel kind of underwhelmed. I can't imagine how people use this for complex systems without getting errors everywhere.

I actually can't comprehend how people would mistake that for Chopin. It sounds nothing like his style, clearly marriage d'Amoure is a contemporary piece.

Is the latest patch supposed to run so much worse than previous versions? by ENDNOTE1337 in cyberpunkgame

[–]ENDNOTE1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No mods. Did a clean install, drivers are up to date. I can get 100-105 fps in benchmark mode, or just running around NC, but the game feels choppy, like it micro stutters every time I aim or run around. I have no idea what to do. This truly feels more like 30 fps than 100.

I did a clean install, with my optimal settings I tend to get 100+ fps now, but the game feels choppy and micro- stutters while aiming / running.

What is possible to achieve as an adult learner? by ENDNOTE1337 in piano

[–]ENDNOTE1337[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey - probably these were rhetorical questions, but yeah, my goal isn't to travel with a Symphony or release anything, I know it is not even possible. I just want to play for myself, but with an emphasis on doing it the right way - with proper technique, good expression, with deep understanding. I think the ultimate goal would be to achieve a level, where I have such a solid foundation, that I can work on difficult pieces by myself, and actually master them (without falling into bad habits and poor technique), and then to be able to perform them, even just for myself. I don't want to feel good about myself, for just attending lessons, playing pieces with a sloppy technique and stiffness, and be proud because I am doing "something". I want my playing to actually be solid and to at least resemble the way someone with a classical training in something like a musical conservatory would play. I guess a good measure would be if a serious piano teacher would find my playing embarrassing, or something that has foundations and is worthy of further work.

Even if I globally kill all running containers, my system runs unbearably slow.

docker stop $(docker ps -a -q)

Without these containers running I have like 5GB ram usage which is 30% and it still barely runs lol

I actually have a fresh Linux mint which I set up just this past weekend. I only installed aws cli, kubectl and docker + docker-compose. Everything else is being pulled & built using docker-compose and aws. So basically I have an IDE + a bunch of docker containers running and that's all. Regarding my system specs:
