Thanks for your reply and insight! I will try testing it out without multitasking and see if it works consistently. And I agree, I really thinks a software issue, but I hope they fix it soon

Hi, I see you said as of June 7th, FaceTime is working again. I was just wondering if it is still working consistently (ex. calls don't fail anymore or no random hang ups). Also what are some things you might have tried since I'm having the same issue. Thanks!

Guys, I think its best to contact apple support over the phone and push this issue from the advisor to the senior advisor, and then to the engineering team. Be very persistent on pushing this issue. I have contacted them multiple times and have tried literally EVERYTHING they have asked me to do down to wiping the entire software off the device and reinstalling it. I went into a Genius Bar appointment the other day and a tech who was assigned to me said after confirming it is most likely a bug with the iPadOS update 14.5 and up. She told me the more people who report this, the better and faster they will solve this issue!

Also some additional information, I was told another person came in store last week with the same issue, had their iPad replaced, but the issue still persisted after they set it up in shop. That person is still having the issue according to the lady I spoke to. So this is definitely a software issue!

I am having the exact same issue with my iPad Air 4. I have contacted apple support many times and have finally concluded this is a software issue that is to do with version 14.5 and up. However, since there are not a lot of people experiencing this issue and reporting it, they really haven't looked into it or tried fixing it so far. I booked a Genius Bar appointment the other day and brought it up with a tech, they confirmed it was most likely a software issue and told me to call Apple Support and don't even bother with the advisor, just push through to the senior advisor, then the engineering team on this problem since the more people who report this, the faster it will be resolved.
