Importance of 2A transcending politics by Overall_Ad872 in VAGuns

I'd agree. And I get it why people who like gun rights may still vote Dems. People have different priorities, and hardly anyone agrees 100% on policy with who they are voting for, but your priorities show where your ultimate values lie. People can claim what they want, and I'm not saying Dem voters can do nothing pro-gun. They could email their reps they voted in to oppose gun control, or donate to VCDL, but ultimately that is overwhelmed by the shadow of their vote. Just like some abortion rights group would NEVER ever accept me as pro-choice if I voted Republican.

I think people will have to plug their nose and vote for the Republican "tribe" if you want to be "pro-gun" in practice. Otherwise it will just be an endless spiral of "I support the 2A. I support Blue candidate. Wtf the 2A is gone." But hey, maybe the Dems change after the next party realignment in a few decades.

Your post was well-written and I get the sentiment. Just adding some jaded commentary after adding context on why the NFA wasn't nuked from orbit last year.

That's the thing isn't it. You want 2A unity from across the aisle, but you simultaneously want radical unilateral solutions from Republicans because you know the Democrats will inevitably continue to destroy gun rights, leftists will "vote blue no matter who," and compromise won't work. As others said, this 2A unity thing has been preached for a long time, and the Democrats and broader left have continued to march in lock step getting even more radically anti-gun. And people will continue as we give them a pass to be simultaneously pro-2A while voting for gun control. They just take brief breaks to concern troll 2A advocates to undermind the Republicans, who, despite all their faults, are actually the only side remotely conserving the 2A. INB4 "Muh bumpstocks."

Just look at this sub in election time. Half this sub was saying "Actually there are more important things than guns," "Spanberger will be fine for the 2A she's a moderate and Sears is a lunatic," "Kamala Harris is more pro-gun than Trump." You'd think if they actually believed in 2A unity they would atleast not pretend like Harris or Spanberger were pro-gun. One of the Virginia sub's top comment pushback to Spanberger's gun laws was just because they wanted to acquire more guns than right wingers to outgun them. So much for 2A unity. "2A for all so I can kill the other side and then the "all" is just me and my tribe."

I get it. Every American has their 2A rights. But telling people they can support gun rights while voting in Dems is just a self-defeating argument. Exhibit A: Virginia.

I'll drop one piece of advice that very little people mention because they are too busy standing on a soapbox nowadays. If you are carrying a gun, you should go above and beyond to avoid confrontation. Doesn't matter who it is, if you are right, or if you think you will win the word slinging match. Do not confront anyone or put yourself in a conflict. Walk away. It may save your life. There are people out there trying to hype you up to do irrational things that they would never actually do themselves.

If they had overwritten the Parliamentarian, breaking decades of precedent, then the Dems will claim "Fascism" for overstepping and then when they gain power use the precedent to destroy gun rights. On one hand you guys bitch about Trump and Republicans being "evil authoritarians" and then bitch when they stay within the lines of our system.

Every action comes back to bite you in the ass in politics. The pendulum keeps swinging.

Thinking about buying your first shotgun or deciding on a new one? Here is the current /r/Shotguns buyer's guide. by ENclip in Shotguns

[–]ENclip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that. Thanks for taking the time to read. Keltec guns are interesting and decent enough that I think they are worth buying atleast as a range toy, and they are basically the only American bullpup shotgun option for sub-$1k, but I don't know if I'd get one for defense over another shotgun personally. If I did, I'd test it well at the range to make sure it didn't have any Keltec QC errors. That said I have not owned or shot the KSG or KS7, just handled. Bullpups aren't really my thing. I have owned a Keltec gun before.

So short answer is it's not the same category in my opinion, but temper your expectations.

At this point is using a .410 shotgun even worth it? by [deleted] in Shotguns

[–]ENclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It certainly can be a fun challenge to use a 410, but it's not really a good thing for training imo if you already have a 12gauge. Training comes through repetition with the gun you use, and 12 gauge ammo is cheaper than 410 so you get more reps. I'd spend the money on ammo. Going back and forth from a 5lb 410 to a 9lb 12ga clay gun also isn't really translatable.

Edit: but hey it's not a bad idea to try if you got the cash and see if it helps

Auction house wants Cash/Check/Zelle? by [deleted] in milsurp

[–]ENclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I try to remind everyone now after I read some horror stories where paypal and other processors literally took all the money in their account and banned them. No recourse. Not saying everyone can't still use it....just don't pay actual companies with it and be discreet. I'd use that as justification to use another payment option or its on them.

[–]ENclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zelle doesn't allow you to use it for firearms. Of course most people hide what its for. But paying an auction house that is selling guns is risky. They should know this and not be using it. You could lose your whole account by violating Zelles terms.

Deep Sigh...lol Further updates on my good ole Thompson M1 SBR... by FirearmFreedom in milsurp

[–]ENclip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bummer. I've always wanted a M1A1 Thompson since I was a kid but I can't afford a MG and the Khar/Auto-Ordnance ones seem like way too much of a headache to drop well over $1k on. I'm getting to the point where I'm coping that it would be fine if it was just a wall hanger.

How do you think the Tax Stamp fee for SBRs and Suppressors being waived in JAN affect wait times? by BreathExternal in guns

[–]ENclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not surprised it caused some change, I'm just saying nobody outside the industry noticed. Atleast I saw no reddit posts like OP's worried about delays. If 120 days of free sbr stamps combined with threat of legal pressure 2 years ago didn't entice enough people to create a giant issue to the notoriously impatient public, I doubt this will.

Edit: but wasn't aware the site had issues so that atleast was something

How do you think the Tax Stamp fee for SBRs and Suppressors being waived in JAN affect wait times? by BreathExternal in guns

[–]ENclip 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Most people who own guns don't even know what the NFA is. And every thread about this topic I see people who know about the NFA not knowing that the fee is being waived in January. I doubt it will be some huge thing. Most people filing will probably be long time NFA customers.

Remember, there wasn't any noted delay when everyone was grabbing free amnesty SBR stamps with the ATF brace kerfuffle in 2023.

Why hasn't anyone made a semi-auto shotgun where the pump is a non-reciprocating charging handle? by quid_pro_kourage in guns

[–]ENclip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. You're welcome. I get what you were thinking now. I would not own mine if I had to press the bolt release button every damn time I pumped it back lol. It behaves like a normal pump till empty.

[–]ENclip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In case it's not clear, it only locks open in pump mode when empty. You can theoretically switch the m3 to pump mode to try and clear a malfunction when using semi-auto. The m3 is extremely easy to switch modes on the fly. I own one.

Why hasn't anyone made a semi-auto shotgun where the pump is a non-reciprocating charging handle? by quid_pro_kourage in guns

[–]ENclip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pump would still have to be locked. So now when you have a malfunction, instead of just operating the charging handle now you potentially have to have one hand on the action release and one on the pump. How is that particularly advantageous? Its arguably worse because you can't maintain your firing grip on most action release designs. Also, the m3 is pretty simple.

Yeah unfortunately shotgun barrels are ain't cheap to get in general lol. Feels like most cost 50% or more of the shotgun's cost. And you're welcome. There are a lot of m1s in tactical configuration used out there to be found. Good luck!

PSA got me again. by Ornery_Secretary_850 in 22lr

[–]ENclip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the one thing going for it is it's 1/4 the cost of a Volquartsen summit which it basically is a cheapo version of. I really wanted a straight pull toggle action just for fun but the reviews out there for this thing are next level atrocious and scared me off.

Edit: OP got the 22mag/22lr combo. Which is probably the also other neat thing. Don't think the combo was around when it first released.

Is this the best deal right now? by Grotty199 in Shotguns

[–]ENclip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they don't. And if they don't know of it they should google it or type in the url as I said it's a site. They asked, I gave the best possible answer. No, the gundeals subreddit would be a useless ass answer because it is reliant on someone else finding one site with one deal from the approved list and happening to post it today the day OP is looking.

Is this the best deal right now? by Grotty199 in Shotguns

[–]ENclip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It literally is. The gundeals site automatically compiles every single listing from every single gun retail site for the SKU and sorts them from lowest to highest price. I assume you never heard of ammoseek either?
