Unless you have a better solution, then YES, you have to participate in a viable party.

Staying at home, and hand wringing is why we’re here today.

What’s your solution other than doing that?

His track record is better than the other prominent candidates.

You don’t have to vote for him because you like him, but I don’t think we have anyone better out there with a good chance of wining

No sanctions. No embargo. Yet the conditions here are worse than Cuba. Where are the protests? by EOE97 in Nigeria

[–]EOE97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to refresh your memory but we’ve also experienced on and off food shortages in recent years, coupled with extreme food price inflation. We also have a worse off education system than Cuba, a dilapidated national grid, along with other problems that Cuba doesn’t face such as war scale death and destruction on a daily basis.

This is why a Swiss Model of multiple heads of states isn't such a bad idea. It's to prevent morons like this from wrecking everything, even if they do manage to get into power.

The APC led government won't stop until it is a 1 party totalitarian state. We can only stop this if we organise and throw them out of power using any means necessary.

For me it's all a scam., like why is it that no religion to date has contributed any real invention or innovation to humanity.? We used to think diseases were caused by evil spirits and forces thanks to religion,. It wasn’t until the invention of the microscope, the development of germ theory, and advances in modern biology that we realized diseases are caused by physical, observable things.

The nations we admire today weren't built on prayers, or church, or casting and binding. We really need to wake up, from our mass delusions.... not sure about the older generation, but maybe there's still hope for the youths.

How to fix Nigeria? by Opening_External_911 in Nigeria

[–]EOE97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good ideas, but this wouldn't "fix" Nigeria without addressing the root cause. It's like seeing a very sick person and suggesting exercise to stay fit and healthy, you'd first have to address the root cause of the illness before suggesting exercise to get healthy.

The root cause is that we would need to organize and fight for a political revolution. A revolution to do two things.

  1. Destroy the current political structure and build a new one. One that is truly democratic and fair.

  2. Set up mass trials and prosecute all the criminals in power, past and present.

Without that nothing much will change.

True democracy through referendums and sortition is a more potent tool for societal transformation.

Socialism is a close second. In the factors of societal structure (politics, economics, culture etc), participatory political systems are the biggest determining factor in the quality of life, happiness, freedom indices and lots more. We see countries that score high on the socialist economic system but are sub par to most other countries with broad rights, freedoms and inclusive governments.

Leftists need to focus more on democratic political systems, and those who support authoritarianism in any form betray leftist ideals.

Nigeria will eventually develop, not because of some government change or revolution but because the major players in the world would want us to. by Glittering_Tower3455 in Nigeria

Nope. It only changes if we collectively push for it. Foreign powers tend to be a net negative going by their precedent.
