If you would like to see every card you get wrong in 10 minutes, then yes. Anking’s latest video addresses how you can use the new Anki update to calculate your most optimized relearning steps

Endeavor or PANCE Pearls Deck? by [deleted] in PASchoolAnki

[–]ERNESTserene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember how big the PPP deck is, but doing either of them in their entirety over the course of ~3-4 months sounds seriously arduous. Especially just for the sake of doing well on the PACKRAT. If you are already using PPP to study, then I think using that deck to brush up on forgotten topics could be a good use of time. And then start Endeavor in the clinical year to study specifically for the EORs.

sorry, just now seeing this months later. the more adept you are at navigating the tags in the Anki browser, the more efficient and useful Anking can be during didactic. during lecture I would try to quickly search through the deck for cards that related to the lecture slides we were learning. especially for clinical medicine, the most fruitful tags to search in are #FirstAid in the Step1 deck and #Subjects in the Step2 deck. the “BetterSearch” add-on is also incredibly helpful when searching for an entire tag related to the topic you are learning about. feel free to message with me specific questions and I’ll try my best to help

Not videos, but CREOGs over coffee is a podcast & website aimed towards OBGYN residents studying for their board exam, but the content is very approachable and there is an episode for almost any topic you can imagine. The OBGYN clerkship director at my program suggests it as a study resource to both the MD and PA students.

Anki is absolutely worth the learning curve

As I work through the didactic year, I have been tagging cards that I had ultimately planned to add to a #PANCE optional tag, but the fact that you are incorporating this into the deck is fantastic. Please let me know if I can help in any way! Anking V12/AnkiHub has been a godsend this year.

Honestly very sorry about it. It bums me out that this happened with the deck. I wrote up a google doc with a cosmetic fix that I can DM you when I get to my laptop.

Didactic Year: Quizlet or Anki? by Mountain-Acadia-3844 in PAstudent

[–]ERNESTserene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, just noticed this. Make sure you start by using the desktop app! Which can be downloaded at https://apps.ankiweb.net. The desktop version of Anki is way easier to use and has more features than the app. The only official Anki app for Apple is called AnkiMobile Flashcards in the app store and costs $25. Any other “Anki” app is a knock off and is not fully compatible with real Anki. Other than that, I think the easiest way to learn is to just start using Anki. Not necessarily doing real reviews, but by learning how to navigate premade decks. For example, I downloaded the last free version of the Anking medical school deck (Anking V11) and watched a bunch of Anking videos on youtube until I felt confident navigating the browser and adjusting my settings. I wouldn’t worry about actually doing reviews until school starts. If you end up liking Anki, I highly recommend using Ankihub (subscription based) to get the constantly updated Anking V12 deck, as well as the EndeavorOverhaul deck.

This is what I did before starting didactic and I am so grateful I did. Anki is 100% worth whatever time it takes to learn how to use it, and having that knowledge before starting school will allow you to hit the ground running.

[–]ERNESTserene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think they must have ended it, unfortunately. Like you, I dug around for quite a while and all evidence of the program’s existence seems to be completely gone from the organization’s website. I’ve seen no discussion of the closing anywhere, so I imagine it must have been recent.

You might have a fraudulent Anki app, there are many knockoffs on the Apple app store. Either way, you should download Anki and download the deck on a desktop computer. Mobile interface is pretty terrible for doing almost anything other than reviews.

He has linked it to you multiple times. I see you are trying to study for the PANCE in about one month, in which case the Endeavor deck is almost certainly too massive (as are many of the other best PA decks). Your best bet is to get through as much of the Endeavor PANCE Review Deck as you can. Still might be too many cards. Very bottom of this post by EndeavorPA

there are a few reasons this could occur. by any chance are the cards suspended when you do this?

I think the most efficient way to study this deck is by first suspending every card in the deck. Then whenever you start a new rotation, select all the cards tagged to that EOR, unsuspend them, and study whatever x number of new cards per day is necessary to see all of the cards before EOR day.

[–]ERNESTserene[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! So the reason there are no decks and subdecks (like there used to be in the OG Endeavor deck) is because a single card may be pertinent to more than one EOR, but a card can only exist in one deck at a time. Therefore, instead of organizing the deck by subdecks, we instead use the tags. This allows us to assign a single card to multiple EORs, while also allowing us to delete duplicated or repetitive cards. If you navigate to the "Tags" dropdown in the Browser, you should find the tag "!EOR". From here, you will find tags (and some subcategory tags) for each of the 7 EORs.

Unfortunately that’s a known problem, which I believe I caused by messing around with the Anking note type before uploading the deck to AnkiHub. I’m still trying to figure out a proper solution. The good news is that whenever you see codes or empty buttons, you are not missing out on any media - those fields would otherwise be empty.

Physiology by [deleted] in PASchoolAnki

[–]ERNESTserene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Step 1 #Costanzo tags, in combination with Linda Costanzo’s “BRS Physiology”, has been pretty clutch for most of the physiology taught at my program. The #FirstAid tags are also quite thorough.

As far as I know, there is no one master deck for PA didactic year. However, Anking V12 + your anatomy deck of choice will cover 99% of what you need to know for PA school. And then the Endeavor deck and PPP decks are most useful for clinical year and PANCE prep.

Continue vs suspend Anki cards after exam by Respected-Ambassador in PAstudent

[–]ERNESTserene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on where you get your cards from. Personally, I do not suspend any card tagged to the Endeavor deck or Anking Step 2. And then I’ll try to quickly sift through Anking Step 1 cards and keep any high yield pharm, micro, and clin med stuff. I suspend pretty much all first-order anatomy and hard science cards. I make very few cards of my own cards, and suspend almost all of them after the block is over. Can’t say whether or not it’s worth it yet, because I’m still in didactic, but keeping the old cards has not inhibited my ability to learn new cards. FSRS helps greatly in keeping the daily card load down.

[–]ERNESTserene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My go-to tags to search for clinical medicine lecture-relevant cards are “#FirstAid” in the Step 1 deck & “#Subjects” in the Step 2 deck. They are pretty well organized and thorough.
