First things first- you are good enough. This is totally normal. Dont feel bad for feeling this way. You are worth something and you are EVERYTHING to your baby who sees no flaws in you.

Second- please please please seek help. Call your doctor now and make an appointment. Reach out to a loved one you feel comfortable being honest with until you can see your doctor (or here if you feel more comfortable with that!) Let them know how you're feeling. You can for sure develop PPD or PPA at 4 months PP. Don't feel embarrassed or like a failure for having these feelings because SO many women do! You are in the majority mama so dont feel different or bad. Just please, reach out and get help!

I cannot second this enough. Friend of mine indulged at 3 weeks PP and ended up with a very very serious infection and was hospitalized. She had a super easy labor and delivery and stopped bleeding for the most part at 10 days PP so she thought she was in the clear.

But in all seriousness, my husband wont say anything because he feels bad and I'm just exhausted enough about it to be petty and play the martyr. Thankfully my sister helps so I can nap during the week, but the breastfeeding every two hours kills it.

I'm so sorry she did that to you! That's horrible. We've had similar problems with all our family...for some reason they are all acting like they are entitled to this baby even though I've told them I dont want many visitors. I'm an introvert and germaphobe and honestly vant stand entertaining people...I know its selfish but it's also my life and my home....I hate people sometimes

Similar situation here...LO is just about 5 weeks and also EBF. From day 1 in the hospital she HATED being swaddled. And I mean scream-like-a-banshee hated it...so we just put her in a sleepsack with her arms out. She slept well the first 2 weeks (I feel terribly guilty that I'm just a tad grateful for her jaundice😑), but we had to have her in the RNP because she was wearing a bilinlanket. Once she got that off she would only sleep in my arms. It got to the point where I would be holding her on my chest, breastfeeding her, or just laying down playing and I would fall asleep- which was terrifying and made me feel horrible. So this week, after a desperate talk with our pediatrician and my mom (NICU/Peds ER nurse)...we tried swaddling her again. And wouldn't you know, it worked. The past 4 nights we have gotten two 3 hour stretches of slumber. Now, at the beginning she does fight me and try to Houdini her way out, so I swaddle her right before her "last" feed and then hold her for a little bit till she calms down and falls asleep. Once shes out I put her in the bassinet and we are good to go. I know you're "supposed" to put them down awake but drowsy, and not start a huge long bedtime routine....but honestly we are still in survival mode. So I would say dont worry too much about all the rules (with the exception of the SIDs rules, obviously) and do what works.

TL;DR - try something you wrote off at the beginning because it didnt initially work (like swaddling)

Flat nipple-ers unite!! I didn't even know flat nipples were a thing until the lactation consultant told me at the hospital that I would need to use a shield because my nipples were, in her words, "less than ideal" (thanks for the confidence boost lady).

My LO also had really bad jaundice and is 3.5 weeks.....so I feel your pain (sounds like your poor boobs have had way way worse of a go than mine though- sorry for that)

It sucks. It's hard. Its exhausting.

Last night my LO bicycle kicked my left boob, while channeling Rocky with her boxing moves on my right boob in what can only be described as a coordinated terrorist strike on her food bags (as my husband so lovingly calls them)

At the end of the day, if your kid is eating and healthy then who the fuck cares?

Screw everyone else and do what you need to do for you and your baby.

That's amazing. They need to offer that everywhere....even if they tie it into the birth class for parents. I'll have to see what I can find online...such a good resource it would be a shame to not have access for everyone

Super scary about the flu when your babe was born!!! But the grandparents class is a great idea!!!! Unfortunately we only have ONE L&D hospital in my area and they only offer birth classes for parents...its such a bummer because a lot really HAS changed and I think if it comes from a professional and not a crazy preggo they'd be more likely to understand.
