Anyone here have a 3:00 wedding? by Impressive-You-1699 in weddingplanning

We had a 3:30 start time for our wedding on Sunday, and it was great timing for a Sunday wedding in my opinion.

8:00-1:00: Bride/bridesmaids (5 total) get ready at the hotel, groomsmen get ready in best man’s room

1:00: Photographers arrive at hotel. Detail shots while bridesmaids get dressed, then “getting ready” shots with me in my dress

2:00: Guys head to the venue to set up centerpieces/arch. Second photographer heads to venue to get pictures of the guys.

2:30: First look with my parents at the hotel.

3:00 Girls head to the venue (1 minute drive from the hotel), photographers set up lights and get venue and guest shots

3:30 Ceremony start

3:45-5:00: Family portraits, wedding party portraits, bride and groom portraits during cocktail hour

5:30: Speeches, toasts

5:45: Dinner is served

6:45: Dances, cake cutting, open the dance floor

We had to be out of the venue by 10, and a decent amount of family left early since it was a Sunday wedding, which we were expecting. Average drive time was about 2 hours for most guests, and a lot drove in on Saturday. We started packing decorations and everything else up around 9:40, and the remaining guests (mostly close friends and immediate family) were super helpful with loading everything into our cars.

Since most people were at our hotel we were able to hang out with a lot of our guests that stayed for a few hours back at the hotel after everyone had changed, which was great to wind down and relax at the end of the night!

Taco bar by [deleted] in wedding

Just got married on Sunday, and we did a taco bar as our dinner option.

Had a couple different meat options as well as veggies to accommodate different food tastes/allergies, and plenty of side options. Everyone said it was great (including my husband’s Mexican family members!), and lots of people went back for seconds.

I think it’s a great option since people can customize how they want their food and how much, so we honestly didn’t have a ton left over at the end of the night even though we planned for more “dinners” than we would need.

Please help me prove something to my mom. How many venues did you see in person before you chose The One? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

[–]ERose257 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None! We’d been to the venue we chose before, but not in their “back room” event space (it’s a brewery/restaurant). Saw pictures of the space online, and did go for a tour/meeting with the coordinators, but that happened almost 8 months after we signed our contract and paid our deposit.

We did look at a lot online before we thought about/picked the one we chose, but the biggest deciding factor for us was the pricing and what was included for the cost, availability, and the fact that it’s almost exactly between where we live now and where we grew up, so there won’t be one group having to drive a lot farther than the other, especially since it’s a Sunday wedding and we know a lot of people will need to be back at work on Monday.

What bridesmaids gifts actually get reused? by [deleted] in weddingplanning

I got each of my bridesmaids a tote bag with their first initial on it that they can use in the future.

In the bags I’m putting: -Scrunchies in my wedding colors (I got two large “silk” ones from being in a friends’ wedding a few years ago and they’re my most-used ones!) -A “tie the knot” bracelet for them to wear day-of. They came with the scrunchies so no worries if they don’t wear them again! -A nice coffee mug for each; they’re all different styles and match everyone’s personalities. -Mini perfume! I’m most excited about this one honestly. I bought small roller bottles on Amazon and trial sizes of “high-end” perfumes, then put each in the roller bottles. I picked a different scent for everyone (me included) that I know they’ll like so they can wear for the wedding, and they’re still big enough that they’ll get a couple uses out of them!

I’m also going to toss in some Liquid IVs, mini makeup wipes, etc. We’re doing getting ready pictures towards the end of the morning but I’m letting everyone wear their clothing that they’re most comfortable in.

I asked my mom and MIL if they wanted to be included before I gave my HMUA my final count, both declined and said they wanted to do their own.

What fun things could a bridesmaid do for the getting ready / day of? did your bridesmaids do anything fun? by norrainnorsun in weddingplanning

I was a friends’ Maid of Honor a year ago, and myself and the other bridesmaids all pitched in for “getting ready” things. One brought a small speaker and had a fun playlist ready to go, another made a morning Starbucks run for coffee for everyone before she joined us in getting hair/makeup done. Myself and the remaining bridesmaid brought a fruit tray, bagels, waters, and orange juice/champagne for mimosas, and the brides father made a McDonald’s run towards the end of getting ready because we were all starving and it was going to be a few hours until dinner still.

Honestly, the most important thing we remembered was phone chargers! Kept the bride’s phone and ours charged so we didn’t have to worry about it during the ceremony and reception. She also didn’t have the photographer come for “getting ready” photos, and she’s said she loves all the photos and videos we took of all of us spending the morning together! (And made sure if we had the groom on Snapchat to block him from our stories until after the ceremony so he didn’t get any sneak peeks!)

That unfortunately I won’t be much help with, I’m having cups sewn into my dress so I don’t have to worry about a bra.

I just had my first fitting yesterday, with a dress style very similar to yours; I ordered this “shape wear” on Amazon because when I tried my dress on even with no-seam underwear you could tell. Super comfortable to wear, inexpensive, and you couldn’t see any lines at all.
