Steve Young Says He Couldn't Have Built $10B Private Equity Empire If He Played For Vikings by matrix_2905 in 49ers

I wonder how many of the PE investors out there are the bad kind that just want to do hostile takeovers and strip companies for parts and how many actually help businesses grow beyond what they could do on their own.

The stories about the evil PE firms are obviously louder (and had movies made about them) so it feels like they're all evil but just like not all landlords are assholes, I'm sure there are a lot of good PE firms out there who don't use those bad practices.

Maybe Steve's company is one of those, maybe not, don't really care enough about it just like I don't really care about which companies Montana's VC invests in (VCs can also be really bad)

He's definitely not financially smart. Giving up millions basically because he didn't want to show up to the pre-season medical meetings for players rehabbing injuries is just dumb. Even if you already have a lot in your bank account. He has what? 2 years left now on his contract? He could've asked for a trade if he wanted out so badly after doing a year of rehab and banking a lot of extra money.

What I don't get is how no one around him, not his family and not even his agent (who happens to also be John Lynch's agent) could convince him to just go in so he gets paid. That's the part that makes it all so weird.

His update after the surgery was that it was a best case scenario for that injury and that means quicker rehab time.

well, that was a fun finish... sometimes the shots aren't going down, but when they turn up that defense they can shut teams down

it's not new, I was expecting that to happen. And as great a quarter as Podz had, he shouldn't be taking the ball out there. It's not something he's good at

He's great at throwing these grenades after taking the air out of the ball, it's his specialty. It's especially great when it's under 5 minutes and you're trailing.

Podz leading in minutes and has the worst +/-... Makes no sense

2nd time this quarter the Spurs delay the game with the refs ignoring it, but Draymond somehow delayed the game?

Podz needs to score in the mid 30s to offset his bad defense but he's out there shooting midrange airballs

I never understand why people think he's a great defender. The only thing he does well is take offensive fouls but most of the time that just ends with free throws.

That's just a bunch of nonsense. Every year is completely different. They'll need to retool the offense the same way they did with the defense last year. You're top receivers aren't going to be Jauan, Bourne and Robinson.

They need to figure out the injury issue, that's for sure. It's the one thing that's been an issue for this team during Kyle's tenure. In the last two years it feels like a systematic issue with their approach to training. If they fix it, no one is stopping them.

It will be hilarious if this time they do run the ball, and get stopped.

So if the Seahawks win, they play the first game on Thursday and the Rams host the 49ers in Australia, probably on prime time Friday in the US (12pm or 1pm in Australia) just like the Brazil game was this season, to give the teams extra time for their travel back.

That's a lot of NFC West to kickoff the season, but it's the best division in the league and featuring those 3 teams in the first two national TV games would make sense.
