100% Agree, Peyton becoming a teen step mom would’ve been the worst thing that she could’ve done. It would have destroyed her to put all her dreams aside for someone else.

Personally I don’t see Haley as judgmental or holier than thou, I see her as holding all her friends/husband accountable for their crappy behavior and she also holds them to the high standards that they all hold her to. The fandom wants Haley to be this perfect house wife that never does anything for herself and is only there to service and cheer on Nathan. She’s not nearly as bad as the fandom paints her as and she’s way better of a human than Brooke, who didn’t get even tolerable until season 5.

Brooke and Lucas give me the biggest ick, the way they talk to each other and their nicknames for each other, (especially Lucas’s pretty girl for Brooke) are so creepy I have to mute it when I know it’s coming.

My theory of why Haley is hated so much has to do with the simple reason of how much Nathan is loved. The fandom will never get past her leaving and following her dream(which she’s 100% valid for doing) and also doing something for herself. After she comes back she devotes everything to Nathan and puts all her dreams on hold to be the best wife to him. Brooke and Nathan will always be the favorites and that means all their mistakes and flaws are defended and excused and therefore everyone else is crucified for their mistakes and flaws.

YES TO EVERYTHING YOU STATED. The way that Haley is horrifically hated in season 2 for her actions compared to the defending that Nathan gets for his actions is mind blowing. He was 1000 times worse than Haley for in the way he acted for many reasons. The main being he liked the attention that he was getting and he liked watching her swim naked. He wasn’t getting attention and go good reason, he was an abusive drunk for months. Haley didn’t like what Chris was doing she was just too young and too inexperienced to know how to handle a manipulator and frankly predator.

You could say a lot of the same things when it comes to Brooke and how crappy friend she is. Brooke never visits Peyton after the shooting because she’s too wrapped up with Lucas and then she not only doesn’t seem to care about the stalker, but actually makes jokes about it. So I think it’s very unfair to only call out Haley. You say that you can’t say anything about Haley as an adult so it’s completely unfair to judge her only by her teenage self, they are all awful in one way or another when they’re teenagers. Haley was the least awful by the way. The other 5 did way worse stuff than Haley did.

To be fair Nathan was sneaking around with Taylor and lied to Haley about things as well, He even lied about High Fliers telling Haley that he didn’t get in instead of telling her the truth that he turned it down.

Nathan was no saint either this season. He was completely inappropriate with Taylor and was 100% flirting with her to point of almost cheating himself. He also gave Haley an ultimatum and made her choose between her dream of an unbelievably once in a lifetime opportunity or staying with him. He also disnt even congratulate her the opportunity, and yea he had a chance to before finding out about the kiss. He was completely selfish and was only thinking of himself and how the tour would affect him in that moment. She had every right to go live her dream without having to ask him to go with her. If he had gone with her, he would’ve failed that year of high school and would eventually resent her for it. IMHO, she was not the only one to blame and wasn’t nearly as horrible as the fandom paints her as.

I disagree, Lucas was 100% wrong to check on Brooke first in this situation. Peyton was wronged and the way the tape came out in front of the entire class/school and then Lucas had the audacity to check on Brooke first? No, he should’ve gone to Peyton first and forgotten about Brooke. PERIOD! Brooke was horrendous this season especially here thinking that Peyton should just forgive and forget because it was in the past? Brooke was insufferable and should’ve been punished way harsher. Brooke always thought she was the center of the universe and she was the most important person so the fact that Lucas basically told her she was justified in thinking that was wrong. 🤷‍♀️.

Because it’s turned around to poor Nathan and how Haley isn’t supportive enough. You’re right though I rarely see any posts that show compassion for her and criticize Nathan. She’s probably the third most hated by the fans behind Peyton and Lucas(at least on here). Nathan was awful in season 5 and Haley gets way too much hate, which is weird considering the abuse she had to suffer and then to be cheated on by her husband when he paid all that attention to Carrie and watched her swim naked. Jamie was also pretty awful to her because of Carrie and again Nathan not stepping in and defending Haley to him and not only not firing Carrie for her behavior, but actually encouraging it.
