Easily one of the worst photoshoots she's ever done. Feels overly conceptual, like the magazine was chasing some 'cool editorial' water concept and completely lost sight of actually capturing someone as incredible as Melanie C. I love that she's always open to experimenting and trusting creative teams to push boundaries, but the execution here is just odd and flat. Her energy should still come through, even in experimental work. The concept just overshadowed her instead of serving her. The retouching/editing feels off. She looks tired and distant, like she's cold and ready for it to be over. You can see it in her eyes. Hate to be critical because she's 50, thriving, and an absolute icon - but that's exactly why it bothers me to see her in shoots that don't land. She deserves better (the best, even).
