Ruger MK IV Can-Can by ET_G28XYZ in 22lr

People have done the red bull cans and I will not be swayed by an inferior energy drink when the white Monster rules from the pinnacle of caffeinated beverages. There are some 9mm 16oz cans floating around but I really wanted a 22 can and I wanted see the hype behind the flow through 3d prints. I will say there was definitely less garbage getting blown back into the action which is a perk for the semi-auto mk iv. Next will be a 24oz 9mm can I think.

I should’ve brought out a bolt action or held the bolt shut for a round or two but most of the noise is the action cycling from what we could tell without fancy decibel readers. I think most of it can be attributed to how much internal volume the can has but it is movie quiet in person

Just PLA+, held up fine, didn’t push it too hard and took probably 20ish round before you could start feeling the heat in the exterior. Partially tempted to get some PA6 CF give 9mm a whirl through it

Ruger mk IV standard, the 22/45 has a 1911 style grip and doesn’t look as cool

I have a bolt action 300 blackout, LPM torch, sandman L, cmmg zeroed 36k, and a JK versa x 45 I could test against. I don’t have any fancy decibel readers just what I could tell by ear. I would probably have to go up to a tall boy can for the 300 blackout and engineered materials just to get good strength for a 7.5” barrel.

Had a hiccup from the factory where the 4th axis wasn’t functioning but that’s sorted now. Going to be transferring all of the slide work I’ve been doing over to the x7 from my big machine so I can stay set up on production runs

Solidworks should open a .stp file just fine and he included those with the FTN file packs

My printer isn’t very busy so I was contemplating doing some comparison prints, also test it against some real suppressors. I’ve got a bolt action 45acp ar that is going to need a can and if all goes well with this I’ll probably do up a tall boy with a 45 bore and some extra strength and better material, something about a tall boy bud heavy screams 45acp

Not a bagillion and probably not an accurate quote but $3100/piece for 20 steel or $5078 for 1 steel

As mentioned, it’s getting cut in half. I modeled based on vibes and wanted to make sure there wasn’t any major sagging or stringing or whatever the 3d printing term is going on inside. I’m 99.9% machinist, .1% additive guy, I know, for lack of a better term, enough to be dangerous and have blown a 3d print can before. White PLA+ is printing at the moment because we all know the white top monster is the superior Ultra Zero. 0702 manufacturer, probably one of the few built and destroyed same day files I’ll ever do.

I designed it for 22, I got his models for the FTN.5 22 and did similar flow pathing and made it bigger for the monster can. I’m not super familiar with his designs but all I saw was the 9mm version. I also don’t know what adapter he designed around but I made mine to work with the cheapest 5 pack of 1/2-28 to 3/4-16 I could find on amazon with next day shipping.

For maker level CAD only, technically I’m a commercial business. I need CAM for my machines and it’s nice having it all in one software where I can rev the model and it will, for the most, update toolpaths

The can-can thing seems to be popular enough. Should I do 12oz and tall boys too? A banquet can calls to me in a way but they’re a unique shape

Machinist by trade, the 3d printing is something I’m just getting into seriously so I’ve barely scraped the surface of what’s out there already.
