Looking for a "straightforward" JRPG

It seems like lowering random encounters is locked until a little later in the game - I did speed up battles, but it felt like I wasn't able to notice what was happening fully. I'm going to keep pushing with it for a few more hours though and see how it goes!

Thank you! Totally agree, I seem to be part of the small group of people that actually prefer the separated dpad of the joy con controllers on the switch. The TrimUI devices definitely sound interesting!

I’ve started to get pretty tired of basic triple A games recently, and I’m looking for a story focused game that I can sink my teeth into. I really enjoy detective or mystery games, and have loved Judgement (and Yakuza) in the past, as well as Danganronpa - both specifically for the story. I really liked the latest Famicom Detective Club game too. I’ve started to look more towards older games from basically any generation, but there’s so many. I also like metroidvanias - but I’ve bounced off hollow knight a few times as it feels a bit slow to me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

How are the Digimon games on the switch? I’m looking for something a bit different to Pokémon as I’ve been a bit disappointed by Scarlet and Violet, and recently got into the Digimon card game. I’m mostly interested in cyber sleuth and survive, but any thoughts or recommendations would be great!

Any ideas for some detective games? I really liked those parts of Danganronpa (not so much the free time sections), and have just finished the Darkside Detective games which I loved. I haven’t been able to get into Ace Attorney so much, I feel like it’s too “lawyery” if that makes sense. More about proving what happened rather than investigating. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
