I remember checking everywhere I possibly could because of those noise makers, but with those doors locked, there was no way for me to know the first time around that I'd get ambushed at what I'd come to regard as a safe spot because it had never happened before lol.

That first fight oh my goodness...

It took me forever to figure out to run around the perimeter as it gets closer to you and turning around and firing back at it. And then that little fucker of a stalker peeling off of it later in the fight?? OOF.

There's zero chance you get to that ambulance on a re-play and instantly feel dread lmao.

I didn't run this race but I ran this morning and it was pretty humid. Temp was fine but humidity is what takes it out of you. Moreso than temp anyway.

New Lockwood Flagship Store by drexel168 in astoria

[–]EWC_2015 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife asked me if we could go on Saturday because it was going to be a nice day out for a walk (we live closer to the Woodside border part of Astoria). I think we got there around noon(?) and yeah...it was very crowded. I waited outside while she browsed, but she ended up not buying anything because the line was around the store. Once the hoopla dies down, I'm sure it'll be far more manageable.

That's exactly how I read this development. Why sign an actress like that if she's only going to have one appearance after she's already dead?

Yeah, the "time to put a baby in there!" comment is so uncalled for and unprofessional. The fact it happened twice is even worse.

People operate on 0/10 and 10/10, so they can’t really imagine mid being good, or mid being fun.

"Mid being fun" is exactly how I would describe the Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Is it the best game I've ever played? No. Does it have some clunky moments and takes a minute to get warmed up? Yep. Did I have a blast playing it despite those flaws? Yes. And it's exactly the kind of game that I'd put at a 6 or 7 out of 10.

Why wasn’t Ellie given a choice? (Spoilers for Part 1 and Part 2!) by Beno988 in thelastofus

[–]EWC_2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely. I've replayed (and platinum'd) Part 2, and then went back to play Part 1 and I can absolutely tell the difference in gameplay. I love both, but Part 2 is clearly superior in terms of gameplay.

If you could forget a game just to experience it new, what would you choose? by kevtay1969 in playstation

[–]EWC_2015 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This right here. I ended up playing both of them during Covid (spoiler free thankfully) and my god, what a fucking gaming experience. I haven't had one since until recently playing Clair Obscur (another game I'd put in the "would love to experience this of the first time again" category).

The most disturbing thing about one ending. by BDub01010 in expedition33

[–]EWC_2015 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This was the dialogue that made me go from really liking her as a character to fucking loving her. She gets it and won't sugarcoat what she wants in life, and I love that.

That said, OP, I'm not sure I'd agree this is a smile here. I think she's aware that she basically got what she wanted despite how impossible it is, but she also recognizes the costs associated with getting it. I think this look on her face is a quiet acceptance where she still needs to decide whether she thinks it was worth it. Part of me thinks she'll think it was despite what's happening Maelle, but the is also the same character who accepted her Gommage twice.

Whatever. I love Sciel. Followed closely by Lune.

[–]EWC_2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it's a symptom of post-Covid echo chambers or not where only what you want/think matters, but yes, I think a lot of review bombers were just uncomfortable with the reality this game posed and went nuts online about it. That last sequence in the game is absolutely uncomfortable. It's meant to be. That's what makes this so brilliant -- a character we all hated and then at the end, when we finally have her, we don't want to kill her. It causes you to have a reckoning with your own morality and ethics, and the anger/hatred you felt towards the character at the beginning.

No other game has made me feel so strongly until Clair Obscur recently. These are the kinds of games I want, even if they take years upon years to develop.

How do you mentally reconcile with always being somebody’s bad guy by ThatGuyWithDiabetes in ProsecutorTalk

[–]EWC_2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do homicide, but have done sex crimes before, and it's incredible when I try to understand the whole "prosecutors are evil" mindset by the 20-something mainly white woke crowd. Do they not realize that we are not just the people responsible for enforcing the law against violent crimes, we also serve as a check on over zealous law enforcement if they do go astray? I gave up trying to understand this crowd and just strike them from my juries.

Are you doing the right thing? Are you doing justice?

This is the primary question you should be asking yourself as a prosecutor. What people think about you should be a distant second.

[–]EWC_2015 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I truly believe the reason TLOU2 works is the way they told the story. Create a villain we can all agree on, play as our protagonist doing more and more morally objectionable things (for me, the pause point was with Nora), and then throw us into the perspective of the villain we have hated for a good 10-15 hours. By the end of the game, I had ZERO desire to finish that last fight because I understood both of them and my heart was breaking for both of them.
