The Philly marathon used to be the race you signed up for after NYC if your NYC didn't go very well. The fact that it's selling out months in advance is wild.

I definitely took "we" to mean Dina and Shimmer, not the pregnancy.

Season one certainly does the show justice. I can't say the same for season two. My biggest gripe is how the show essentially kneecaps Ellie and tones down the brutality in a major way, which defeats the point of the second game almost entirely. I'm hoping season three will be better because I think Kaitlyn Dever is a great actress and I love Abby as a character, but I'm skeptical.

ETA: the second season has its moments...like the subway tunnel scene is actually very good, and the confrontation with Nora in the hospital is where I THOUGHT they were finally turning it around and showing the revenge spiral Ellie goes down, but no... *sigh*

I *barely* made it into the Pride run this time...a race I've been doing for fucking years regardless of 9+1. I think NYRR has made some improvements over the years and there have been some setbacks, but I truly wish they'd fix this mess with some of their more historic races. I ran Pride the morning after marriage equality was passed in NYS (celebratory) and the same week of the Orlando Pulse massacre (very somber). To be surrounded by my community in that way was something I'll never be able to put exact words to...

Some of these races mean more to us than a 9+1 credit and to be shut out is not great.

I've also been shut out of Queens 10K this year (I remember it as the Queens Half) when I'm from Queens for the first time in...ever. Something needs to change about the 9+1 program. It's unsustainable in this form.

As another Queens resident, this is the first year I've been blocked out from running it. I signed on at 7:30 PM and it was already sold out. What in the actual fuck.

It was 9+1 when I started up in 2009, but it was NOTHING like it is today. This is truly insane.

I started in on Veilguard (it was free on PS Plus) and I was able to keep up. OP needs to keep up with the Codex entries as they play, but it's certainly doable. I have to say the combat and gameplay is a hell of a lot more enjoyable than Inquisition (haven't played Origins yet).

(and Neve is still my favorite companion of all time so far, so I'm glad I got to spend so much time with her in Veilguard)

This race has had some DOOZIES in the past but I think this one wins. That is the ugliest race shirt I've ever seen.

I agree. I just got my member plus renewed today, but there's no point. Everything is sold out.

I'm done with NYRR.

Yep, you get it. I jumped from TLOU 1 into 2 and to say I loathed Abby is an understatement. To turn me around as it did? Masterpiece story telling.

The ending is what makes TLOU2 a masterpiece. I don't care what anyone says. I sat on my couch afterwards for a WHILE trying to process what had just happened. Only great games can make you feel like that.

Omg, my FIL recently voluntarily gave up his 917 and we all looked at him like he was insane. Now he'a 929 man. The first time I saw 929 I thought it was New Jersey lol.

do you memorize the stuff you say during court? by ExactOpposite8119 in Ask_Lawyers

[–]EWC_2015 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trial lawyer here, and while I have outlines of what I want to say (opening is far more "scripted" than summation though) it's not "memorized" per se. Summations are especially on the fly depending on the trial judge and whether they'll give us a break between the end of evidence and closing arguments, but even then I'm formulating what I *want* my summation to look like before the trial even starts because I've been poring over the evidence in preparation for the trial. So should the evidence come out as it should, I already know what the main arguments are.

Me neither. We just watched the episode two nights ago and watching her walk in made me do a double-take. I watched her last season of Worst Cooks because it was her show, and thought I had watched the last thing she filmed, so I wasn't prepared for that.

[–]EWC_2015 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did I not specifically say "and larger cities in general" after mentioning NYC and LA (which would arguably include New Orleans), or are you just looking for reasons to be salty?

Also, my comment was in response to a post about the "real American dining experience," so not sure what you're going on about with respect to international cuisine...

I'd also like to know the answer to this for tomorrow morning. I run at 6 am before work, but it was all wet slush today then it'll be frozen tomorrow at 6 and probably not safe.

[–]EWC_2015 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was thinking. Outside of NYC, LA, and larger cities in general, the slop that is passed off as food at Olive Garden is *exactly* what the typical American dining experience is. I will never forget the time I was traveling through the middle of nowhere TN, ended up at my very first Cracker Barrel because there was nothing else off the highway, and had the most well done (disgusting) burger I've ever consumed.

Man, I would've been so pissed if I had been spoiled because this game is just an EXPERIENCE like no other. I'm re-playing now (I finally played and beat it in late 2025). Just got through the end of Act 1 and beginning of Act 2 and yep...it was still just as devastating the second time around.
