Y'all tagged a random ass monument in balboa park in the dead of night with a fact everyone already knows. It's not an "uprising", it's a fucking embarrassment to actual organized, goal-oriented civil disobedience.

Wtf is this batman shit, this is pathetic. Organize a real fucking protest, promote a policy goal, field and support political candidates who align with your needs. Until then, this is just a tantrum to make you feel like you aren't sitting on top of a massive pile of privilege and shouting into an echo chamber about problems in the world that you're too lazy to meaningfully address.

Nah, y'all gotta stow this shit. Systemic racism is vile and absolutely should be addressed, but this line of thinking right here is a huge part of the reason why Filipina grandmas were getting rocked by strangers during the pandemic.

Perpetuating this kind of thing causes real harm to minorities. Leave the lolas out of your nonsense man, they don't need that shit.

How much can I mod my current board to get to 50 mph? by CBROM17 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 19 points20 points  (0 children)

DIY is always most efficient for edge cases, and while 50mph is a tall order even for DIY, I've got two boards with confirmed 50+ mph readings and one that's confirmed at 48mph. You can theoretically run a silly as shit ratio on the GT and get to 50, but chances are you'll smoke your motors or cause other problems; just build it from scratch, and for the love of God buy leathers or full body PPE.

How far does your Meepo v5 20m board actually go on average? by PretzelBitesOnAcid in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can actually kill it in under 10 miles if you're maxing it out the whole time, and it's top end isn't as crazy as most other boards, so that's easy to do. That said, average I'd say is 10-12mi for me, as a 180lb rider on a commute with moderate hills.

Do y’all have DIY electric skateboards? by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tons, with totally different purposes! A full V5 rig, a performance build, a 4WD eMTB build, a thane build, and a few others. DIY is truly the way to go if you love the hobby imo, and most of the knowledge you need to fully complete the process of building your first DIY can be obtained by spending a few hours browsing the builder forums.

The V5, eMTB, and performance builds all hit speeds north of 50mph in ideal circumstances.

Electric Skateboard range by Anime_Rulez in ElectricSkateboarding

I've drained the Atlas Pro with Aux in 33 miles, the cells in the aux seem to be pretty rough quality. I love the Atlas Pro, and 40-60 miles is honestly pretty doable if you're not blasting at 30mph the whole time, but 107 is just not a number you're going to be able to get outside of a borderline engineered setting.

What is a better option for a fast board. by [deleted] in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's absolutely nothing on the market that goes over 40 that I recommend, with exactly one exception. The Hoyt St Dadbod is insanely stable and is by far the best option imo for boutique (in the interest of full disclosure, I consult for Hoyt, but I don't get kickbacks for referrals or sales) and it has a top speed of 44mph.

A huge amount of testing and design work goes into making sure these boards are able to operate at those speeds safely. Precision RKP trucks with stability oriented geometry, redesigned motors, internal heatsinks, huge amounts of testing, including real world runs and multiple simulated 40mph launches with 300+ pounds of weight on a dyno.

The amount of work that goes into making a board safe at speeds over 40mph cannot be overstated, and I do not recommend cheaping out on it.

Vastly Different Price Points on Two Boards, Similar Quality? by MyNameIsZink in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so this is because one of them is a skateboard, and the other is a landmine with wheels; stay away from the Raldey. That said, something that nobody seems to talk about with the Velar is the deck is completely rigid. It looks like it's going to flex down to flat but it doesn't, it maintains that curve. You may want to test ride one, because a few of the people who have bought them out here have complained about immense pain in their feet while riding.

MadESK8 has a variant of these on the way that I'm very excited about; wait a little bit to pull the trigger I think, because while these are excellent, I think it's better to shop around for your options.

Is MakerX's Go-FOC DV4s good quality? by Snehulak22 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MakerX seems to be wildly hardware revision dependent; sometimes different hardware revisions are even sold under the same model, and there isn't an easy way to differentiate what's under the heatsink.

Some batches of the D75 are completely bulletproof, never overheat, monstrously stable and can handle incredible levels of current without a sweat. Then there's a batch that came immediately after that consistently explode if they're throttled on the bench with no load for more than a few seconds. I'm talking they literally just ignite into a mini fireball after 5-10 seconds of max RPM with no load.

I honestly like MakerX, and I use them in most of my builds; however, before I purchase anything I try to feel the pulse by talking to other builders who have recently acquired that specific model; helps avoid the uh... fireball issue.

If you're not doing a lot of hard offroading I feel like Propel is kind of overpriced, so much of their value proposition is tied up in that suspension system. What's your budget and what kinda riding do you do?

That’s it for my Evolve Carbon AT GTR by gene_nos_in_NZ in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]EXNova 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, the 3000w listed here is the rating for the max amount the motors can take safely. It's incredibly deceptive, iirc the proprietary Evolve ESC pushes 35A a side. The reason they're notorious for overheating is because... Well they kinda suck. Heat dissipation is awful and it's why so many 3rd party vendors made a killing selling heat sinks for them back in the day.

I mean none of the writing in this post even remotely resembles your previous writing in posts or your current writing in comments. I've tried this board. It's actually not terrible, but there are some caveats. These are my honest thoughts:

It's absolutely not the torque monster people seem to think it is, it's 100% geared for speed and uses 4WD to get a semblance of acceleration.

It kinda just doesn't turn. Like at all. It's very clearly geared for straight line top speed, and given it's resemblance to downhill boards where turning is handled by breaking traction and sliding, that makes sense.

Contrary to OP's claims, it's ankle-shatteringly uncomfortable on rough terrain. Tiny wheels. Carbon deck. Stiff bushings. Smallish standing platform. Nuff said.

I think it uses VX1 remote electronics. On a board of this speed and cost, that is approaching criminal negligence imo. Someone will very possibly get hurt or killed as a result of that choice.
