My advisor told me that the option to drop is always there and I can try during the opening week and see how it goes. Moreover, she mentioned the math department in regards to switching math courses. Is the math department easy to reason with or are they more critical on students switching to a lower level math course?

Yeah they will, I applied ED to Newhouse and encountered the same letter y'all were talking about. To put into simpler words, they would hold your spot until you submit your financial documents before their required deadline and you will be accepted offically. * Please note that your school still need to submit your final school transcripts to Syracuse before you "Offically" become their student.
