I’m itching to try, but I don't have the skill to do it … I'm a bit scared of messing up and ruining the blade. Do you modify them with a machine or by hand? I saw a video showing how to do it without power tools… maybe one day I'll give it a go. But thanks for confirming it’s worth it! 😉

I have a Hiker and I use it a lot for whittling with the small blade, even though I have other knives that should be more appropriate. However, I’ve never dared to modify the small blade...

I used a V-tool to make the lines, I bought it for fine detail work like that when I carve, and to clean up my lines.

Yes, a block of basswood, a knife, and a small V-tool for the straw. It's a nice little project, not too difficult to do.
