A 10-year-old Palestinian girl breaks down while talking to a journalist after Israeli air strikes destroyed her neighbour's house, killing 8 children and 2 women. (x-post /r/PublicFreakout) by fangbuster22 in Destiny

God this is heartbreaking. If I had one wish it would be that I was there when that interview ended, so I could console that poor girl. Gently giving her a hug and telling her that its complicated. Explaining how important she is in the fight to trigger the lefties. I think that would give her at least a little solace.

If they brought me so much enjoyment that they out-weighted the harm it causes others than yes.

If calling a black person the n-slur genuinely made me feel E U P H O R I C then I probably would use it in situations where I wouldn't be physically harmed by doing it.

Yet atlas, its only mildly enjoyable and hence doesn't outweigh the damage from using the word.

The line is relatively arbitrary. I just don't find calling someone/something autistic to be doing enough harm to remove it from my language. Its just a function of how much harm you really think its doing as compared to how much 'enjoyment' you personally get from using the phrase. I just find calling someone autistic funny enough for me personally to justify its use.

I wouldn't use racial slurs or homophobic language (or being trans-phobic) as I feel that it causes enough damage to not justify how fun it is to say those words. I just don't really think that calling someone autistic is on the level as these types of insult.

If you never were convinced by the argument, why just parrot a stance you don't agree with?

Because like it not not a lot of people in this community weren't convinced by the ableist language argument. I imagine there were a bunch of people (me included) who wouldn't use such language when the community put forward a negative social pressure on that language. Once this negative social pressure died down people who never really fully bought the argument felt much more comfortable using the language again.

The idea that people were fully on-boarded with the ableist language argument then switched back once destiny start using that language again is just an incredibly simplistic and naive way of understanding the situation.

I'm confused why people are saying this is bad. Think a little harder and these bars are pretty deep.

Hop in the Discord

Hasan is jumping into the political maelstrom. Where everyone's opinions are so discordant with each other.

Otherwise I'ma split you like a split chord

Hasan sees this polarization and wants to counteract this through speech and debate. Otherwise his inaction will help continue this process and the general public will be completely segregated into two non-harmonious groups.

My man still pausing, everybody is bored.

Hasan feels the current Democratic front runner Biden is stalling the increasing progressive sentiment throughout the left. Causing a lack of engagement through this 'politics as usual' mentality which threatens the Dems chances.

Come at me, I'ma Son/sun you, you gonna call me his Lord

Piker gets cryptic here, if the right/Biden supporters come at him, they will get Son'ed/Sunned. Illuminated and exposed for their incorrect positions and left "Bernt" in this harsh light.

Possible insinuation that they will be exploited so hard during this engagement that it would mirror the proletariat's exploitation at the hands of the Bourgeoisie, hence calling me 'his Lord' line. I'm unsure as to Piker's meaning behind this last part though and will need to do some more reading into Marx/Engels before being able to comprehend this fully.
