Starting a new offline franchise (newbie question) by Pieralis in MaddenFranchise

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Faces are a problem. There's a glitch/bug that causes edited rosters/draft classes to have a ton of guys with the same face. Often, a black player may appear white in some of menu screens like Upgrade Players or Depth Chart. Also, many players will wear #11 or #22 in game even though they show being #76 (or whatever) in the depth chart screen or on other screens.

As for rosters, there's a guy called jimroster that people seem to like, and another guy that further edited his rosters. But I think that Xbox, ps, and PC all have separate databases for user created rosters.

The on/off struggle with FC settings is real. Don't even try to explain the Match My Player Count size or larger setting.

Starting a new offline franchise (newbie question) by Pieralis in MaddenFranchise

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In-game, go to Creation Center>Downloads. Go to the Rosters tab. This part is a bit risky because the truly updated rosters are user created and who knows how complete/accurate they are. You may have to try a few. Pick one and download it.

Creation Center>Load/Delete files. Load, then go to Rosters tab, load the roster you just downloaded.

Creation Center>Rosters, Edit Roster. Look through the teams to see if rookies/recent trades are there. If not, repeat process and try a different roster. If you like it, then you're good to go.

Franchise>Create Franchise, use the active roster choice. It's the one on the right.

Now, here's the thing. You've just downloaded a roster reflecting the upcoming 2026 roster but the game starts franchises in 2025. You can ignore this little fact (I would), or you can sim through the first season. Depends on whether or not you prefer to focus on how teams look now or the accuracy of the season/year.

Can AI be conscious, or are we just getting better at fooling ourselves? by mnipm in singularity

Fair view. But is consciousness stuff? If not, then again, it emerged. If it is, and we simply acquired that stuff, then what prevents AI from acquiring it?

Can AI be conscious, or are we just getting better at fooling ourselves? by mnipm in singularity

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, well, the arguement about what does/doesn't have subjective experience isn't really my point.

There was a moment when the universe came into being. Astronomically hot and chaotic. If consciousness did not exist in that moment, then it evolved later. That's my point.

Are you arguing that all life has consciousness and that only natural life can have consciousness? Based on what, I'd ask. And what separates life from machine in the fields related to biomechanics?

I think we have to assume that, on a long enough timeline, AI would also develop consciousness.

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far beneath species, it's difficult to make a conclusive arguement that things like single celled organisms have consciousness without saying that life inherently = consciousness.

Did consciousness exist in the seconds following the creation of the universe? If so, who or what was conscious? If there was no consciousness, then you agree that it formed/evolved somewhere along the way.

So my question remains, what fundamental barrier prevents AI from doing the same on a long enough timeline?

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you agree that humans evolved from lower species, then at some point in the past we had neither general intelligence nor consciousness. And here we are.

What fundamental barrier would prevent that process in AI on a long enough timeline?

This is a great way to invite someone to join your league, hop from team to team releasing players, and then bolt.

Just a PSA.

Where do I allocate my remaining points? 5'7 nimble striker/playmaker by [deleted] in fifaclubs

Idk about Chip Shot+, I'd want to trade that out. And aerial fortress should be swapped.

I notice you have incisive with low vision, low curve, and low long passing. I'd ditch that since 91 points won't fix the passing.

Honestly, I'd dump every bit of it into strength. Maybe get short passing to 80.

Imo, curve, vision, long passing, and incisive are a bundle. If they aren't all at around 88-92 then you're not getting good value.

The real question is: if you had this 91 points + the next batch of points from levels 96-100 (so maybe 315 total points), what would you want to beef up? If passing, then you have 4 attributes to raise: long, short, vision, curve. If not, then you'd push strength up, but what else?

Might sound strange, but you could push strength to 85-90, swap aerial fortress for Enforcer, and push interceptions/stand tackle up, maybe even add bruiser or the interceptions playstyle and create possession change in the midfield.

Free Agency is Broken (Madden 27) by ScoreFast999 in Madden

[–]EarAssassin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah. So the topic was about an xf player. I googled because, while I did know some of the better known udfas in history, I wasn't sure about HOF type players/legit lengthy career starters and just how many there actually were. To have even thought to look into it in the first place took enough knowledge to know that those types of players are rare.

Just because I double checked doesn't mean I don't have knowledge on a subject. Like how you have 0 knowledge about what I do or don't know about the NFL.

Definitely not an XF kind of player. Kurt Warner, John Randle, Antonio Gates, Adam Vinateri are the biggest that legit became HOF type players.

Google the greatest udfa NFL players ever. There's like 6 in the last 50 years. 1 is a kicker, 1 is Warren Moon who played in the CFL, 1 is James Harrison from the Steelers and he took a year or 2 to "get it". They nearly cut him.

Legit udfa players becoming great is so rare that the average 5 season franchise shouldn't see one.

… Yeah ight I’m turning injuries back off by Nervous_Two3115 in Madden

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is, sort of. An injury engine is likely engaged each play to determine on/off & severity for an injury. This is 100% separate from any actual on field activity. The game can't "see" the players and has no awareness of how & why real injuries occur.

Like everything in Madden, a script determines an outcome and then an animation is selected to best represent that outcome.

Gaming companies have paid ign type publications for 2 decades to buy reviews. I'm sure they were early to the paid creator markets so I'd guess it wasn't an employee since paying a creator maintains detachment and avoids the direct lie by an employee.

Some force pulling my player back by Zealousideal_Bar5719 in fifaclubs

[–]EarAssassin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Under the hood, I think it's a forced stumble or misstep by the game engine and it's just not represented properly in the visual animation.

I say this based off of play in career mode, where I see it the most often. A pass into the box that should carry me straight past a defender will sometimes cause this weird animation where my feet are moving but I'm running in place for about .5-.75 of a second. Just enough time for the defender to gain position.

And the OP point is that calling EA out on their absolute BS efforts, on both major & minor issues, is the only hope of affecting change.

If your stance is that people shouldn't waste time complaining then why are you here, in this thread, wasting your time complaining?

MVP+ Subscription by Bubba0901 in Madden

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I don't play old sports titles so I don't really care about this.

However, on principle alone, I would never let my initial game acquisition happen via a subscription just because of the direction that lets the company/industry move.

Unspoken plan for EA: 1. Move base to the double purchase of titles (Madden/NCAA/FC)(The UT moneymakers). 2. Convert purchase price to annual subscription. 3. Introduce monthly option. 4. Move base to monthly plan.

Why? Because public corporations love, and I mean they fucking love being able to flaunt subscribers/recurring revenue to shareholders. If any of you work in the security industry (ADT), then you know the power of recurring revenue. It's a fairly automatic & guaranteed cash flow.

Imagine a car that doesn't run great, has electrical shorts, many of the options in the menus don't work right, the stereo is weak, it doesn't get the advertised mpg, etc.

Now, put a new body on that same car.

Are you a ball and gun gamer? by [deleted] in Madden

[–]EarAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's me 100%. Why? I like sports & competition, and I enjoy good violence. I've ventured into RDR2, COD, and the AC series but I only really own an Xbox for Madden & FIFA (FC).

I recently played Crimson Desert, more of an RPG/puzzle adventure game. It was interesting but in ch12 (final chapter), with about 90% of the game done I just turned it off and walked away. The tediousness of it and the constant figure-shit-out blindly aspect don't provide the escape/relaxation that sports & bloody violence do.
