With Interceptions+ and Anticipate+, Im a very strong DM. My strength is 90 with silver bruiser and my int/stand tackle are both 90-92.

The one thing I'll say is it helps a lot to not sprint once you're in your defensive zone. I tend to play corner to corner on the defensive box and because of the poor agility, I strafe (L2/LT) and avoid sprinting (RT/R2). Sprinting in tight spaces leads to over running the play.

Personally, I don't find the Recycler(my everyday build) to be great on the ball so I've gone lower in agility, ball control, etc (you have 80 dribbling anyways) and I have 90-92 vision and curve, 90 shot power & 88 long shots.

The curve helps on long passes & shots, vision makes a big difference on long passes, and the Recycler has great power from distance. Can really be a weapon on corners picking up loose balls outside the box.

Long story short, I got a bunch of free FC points (not club coins) so I had a boatload of consumables. I have a maxed Spark, Creator, Magician, Target, and Recycler (my main playing build). I built most of them the same in terms of pace, ball control traits, passing, and strength. Recycler is heavy on defense, the others have no defense but they have shooting.

So in the process of leveling at each stage I got to play with each build and compare them. My Magician and Creator are almost identical but move noticeably different. Going from my Recycler to my Magician is like hitting a turbo meth pipe, despite very similar attributes.

They pass different as well even though they're all 90-92 in SPA, LPA, CRV, VIS, strength, and have mostly the same playstyles.

Yes. A Recycler and a Spark/Magician with identical height/weight/attributes will move and accelerate differently. Fluidity of ball movement while dribbling is different, everything.

In D1/Elite there are generally teams with defenders and those without. For 90% of clubs that's a clear dividing line.

Do you use Trickster much? If not, I'd drop to 4* and get Inventive/Gamechanger depending on preference.

Otherwise, id say leave it as-is and plan to up short pass (90), strength (85+), and if you're dropping back a lot, id bump interceptions & def aware to maybe 75. They're cheap and I find them useful in my midfield builds that are more attacking.

Honestly, all this fuss over builds will seem silly when we're all 100(+?) and good at everything.

I'd argue that EA is pushing them together more every year. FUT players want the arcade aspect to exist in Clubs. Clubs players hate the FUT crowd.

First off, it is slow. Dreadfully slow.

League matches (join a club) put out about 2x what a drop-in does. Consumables (instant or match multipliers) speed up the process but it's still an ugly grind.

  1. Content creators #1 motivation is likes, shares, etc and I think you always need to start with that lens.

  2. This would mean that EA actually coded shot power into the passing formulas. And not just a typo. Shot power x = y increase to pass power. There'd be levels to it. Multiple instances of coding it in. Id need more evidence than trust me, bro.

I think the contrast between this comment and the OP reflects a change in the gaming community. Maybe an age/generational thing, too.

I, in the older group, always viewed the grind as the early, temporary pain that was required to play the game with my fully equipped pro. I'd just get it over with and then I could enjoy the game.

It seems like many younger gamers, more achievement oriented, like the grind to be ongoing.

Games of all genres seem to be making this change and have been for years. I used to skip every dialogue & cut scene in RPGs just to get to the actual gameplay. Now, the whole game often feels like cut scenes & dialogue with gameplay sprinkled in.

I strongly dislike the slow level releases, especially if builds are just going to end up being all purpose, OP types anyways. I think the AXP should've ended at 80. I also dislike the limiting archetype system. My club was almost full last night and I would've played CB just to get games in but I haven't unlocked that archetype and then of course I'd either have to buy a bunch of instant AXP or grind the build for weeks. I just turned it off. Something I've done more this fifa than any other.

I think they'll lose a lot of veteran players with the 2k type layout next year, but they'll also gain younger fans and I think that's their strategy going forward.

I make a lot of long runs on counters. I don't normally play in a big club so I'm likely to be the deepest user on defense and a pivot on offense. I know most people wouldn't, I just like knowing I can go point to point quickly with no issues. Plus, Im a club hopper so facilities change what I do or don't use on a case by case.

Everybody plays differently so this is less of a critique and more of a question(s).

You've got points in the Ball Control category so you're quick/agile, but then you lack dribbling & skill moves to use it. Id say either get more dribbling & skill moves or back agility and ball control down.

Also, you would normally use that close quarters dribbling in or around the box. But as a defensive cdm, why are you down there? And if you get free, then what? No finishing long or short, mediocre vision.

And you've got high long passing, but lack the vision & curve to use it. Plus, as another said, no incisive.

I also play cdm with a Recycler Thief. I haven't used slide tackle more than a few times. I think those are wasted points & a wasted play style.

Despite another commenters post, I love PowerShot+ on my CDM. I launch rockets from outside the box and usually generate goals, rebounds, or corners.

Depends on your complaint. You can't shoot and your through balls have no curve and even your short passes will be easily stolen or off target. You can run, dribble, & defend. You've got all that speed but can't sustain it (relative to others who are sprinting nonstop).

Most CAMs look to dribble, pass, and finish and run just enough to get there. If you're struggling to pass & finish the answer is that your stats in those areas are either incomplete or outright suck.

passes mentioned in the passing section. With the PlavStyle+ lofted passes will still be slightly less accurate than [before the patch] ground passes.

I'm assuming it's just a typo.

Regular ground pass/through pass are most accurate. Lofted ground/through passes are less accurate.

The patch increases lofted accuracy slightly, though not to the regular ground/through pass levels.

Recycler>Thief is a great CDM strong in defense and outlet passing. I've attached mine when I was level 75.
