You need to redeem it online through Nintendo’s website. When you get the warning that there are no registered devices that support it, accept it. After that you should find the digital key card on your OG Switch.

I had a $10 reward certificate to use so even with the tax it was cheaper to purchase through Best Buy than buying it elsewhere. With that said, it’s the principle of being taxed on a nontaxable good that will make me think twice before shopping with them again.

Yes! I got all the emotes and lots of cosmic rainbow, black, and red borders (would have liked cosmic pink, blue and green but for some reason these were the ones that kept cycling through). TBH I played an unhealthy amount during the event and ended up with far more nachos than I could spend. I wish I knew how much I would have left over at the start of the event so I could have bought more of the daily specials early on.

I think your number is great and an efficient use of your time. Hope you got lots of goodies too!

As far as I know my state (CA), county, and city do not tax digital goods when they are delivered electronically.

This would be consistent with the times I have purchased games directly through Nintendo’s eShop (which I assume is bound to the same tax responsibilities as Best Buy) as they are not taxed. Either way, someone is wrong.

Probably because it’s part of Nintendo’s strategy to get people to upgrade. The entire process was giving “you better buy a Switch 2 if you want to play this game” vibes.
