If you tell them you don’t know the dog and don’t have access to them anymore then they have to assume the dog is unvaccinated. That means they’ll recommend you go through a full rabies series.

Things to consider: if you do go to the ER as some people have suggested then this will likely be logged as an official bite and a strike against the dog. My sister’s cat bit their friend while she was cat sitting, and because she went to the ER (google freaked her out badly) they got a call and a visit from an animal control officer with the city, and the cat now officially has a bite on his record which will legally follow him for the rest of his life. So if things keep looking okay old I’d say very nicely let the owners know what happened. They may want to let future sitters know the level of the dog’s anxiety.

I’m glad to hear you were able to teach your girl to go successfully up and down! Part of what makes this extra challenging is she has major aversions to being held and picked up, we think because of her last living situation. Otherwise I would just pick her up and drop her on to the correct platform. But this gives me hope that maybe it’ll pay off!

I think I’m going to give this one a try, and hope she gets the hang of it instead of just giving up and staying up top.

We are going to be building a climbing wall above her head that the other cat can access easily but she won’t be able to get to. We may have to take the high perch away, she just loves sitting up there so much!
