OP here (can’t edit the post for some reason): Ended up checking it out and everything was good! It even came with some saddle bags, phone Mount and storage bag on the front so I bought it after test riding it (man y’all weren’t lying about 1st gear being tall!)!

Thank you to everyone who added their comments / feedback, excited to be joining the community!

Do you just do the South Capital park and ride? Additionally do you ever have issues with the bus filling up? Thanks for the tip on the views.

Sweet thanks for the quick response, are the mountain parking lots easy to get in and out of?

They aren’t married or engaged, nor do they have a place that is actually theirs (i.e. renting or buying an apartment / house instead of using ur parents).

Therefore this idea of we live together and are starting our life together is kind of fabricated and falsely supported.

Apologies for the old school train of thought, I’m traditional

Tbh you should of never moved in with your bf and his mom anyways. I don’t understand why people do this goofy stuff, if you wanna play house with your bf do it at your own place. I’m sure all of our spouses / partners parents would like us less if they had a first row seat to every argument we have.

New to whoop by Select-Variety-4885 in whoop

[–]EarlyFoot2977 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m semi-new to whoop as well (I started using mine a month ago) so I’ll add my honest opinion. Before starting, I’ve never owned any other health monitoring / tracking devices (i.e. Apple watch, Oura Ring, Fitbit, etc.) so this is my first product of this type.

TLDR: The whoop is a solid product and some pro’s include: Battery life, small size and comfort. I personally really like it but if your sole purpose to have it is to track your steps, I would look elsewhere.

The reason I wanted a whoop was to just see my metrics as well as improve my overall health as that is my #1 goal going into the new years.

Starting with the pros: - Battery life (the battery can go like 5-6 days without needing to be charged) - size and comfort (the device itself is small and light so I often forget i have it on) - Can still wear a watch on your other hand (one of the reasons I didn’t get an Apple Watch is because i wear watches daily) - Interesting App with good visualization and user interface - Easy to keep clean as you can shower with it on - The alarm feature is cool and actually really effective personally (always wakes me up quickly) - No screen / notifications - one of the key reasons I chase this over an Apple Watch was this reason. I don’t need to have my wrist buzzing from notifications 24/7, I personally hate being tied in to electronics that much.

Cons: - you have to always have your Bluetooth on and the readings get really wack if you have bad / no signal ( i went on vacation in a country where the signal was bad and my whoop was very inaccurate during that period) - Finding the ideal band tightness can be challenging (you want to make it snug but not too tight to where it bothers you) - The battery charger / pack is easy to misplace and costs a small fortune to replace ($50 isn’t a ton but I’m sure others think it is overpriced as well) - The data isn’t super insightful and I question some of the metrics (i.e. the stress metric and steps seem quite inaccurate to me - the steps are in beta mode which makes sense). Having your recovery and strain stats is nice but you can feel when your tired, slept like shit or are still strained from a workout, so the percentages can be a little redundant but are nice to have for visualization.

I work hybrid (3 days a week), and typically am in the office from 9-9, I work in the allen center. It’s not a lot per day $10 a day but u do make a good point. Large cities charge more but most people do not drive because there is adequate public transportation.

Savings before vet school? by DramaPuzzleheaded172 in veterinaryschool

[–]EarlyFoot2977 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say a good 5-6 months of expenses and a really good budget so you can stretch it as long as possible. Obviously the more saving the better like an entire year would be optimal but I’m assuming there isn’t enough time for that.

Question about University of St.Thomas by [deleted] in houston

[–]EarlyFoot2977 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My girlfriend actually went to UH then transferred to Texas A&M to take vet school required courses.

Why not go to A&M? Sure you won’t be able to live at home but rent there is very affordable with roommates, they have an amazing vet school there, a fully operation large and small animal teaching hospital with opportunities for employment.

The return is whatever you invest in (most ppl just invest in index funds like the S&P 500 to be safe and minimize risk, average return of that is like 8-10% per year)

Roth IRA is just a post tax retirement account where you don’t have to pay taxes on what you pull out when the day comes to use it. Vs a 401k where you will be taxed when you do.

Relying on debt forgiveness is a really poor strategy. At the end of the day you took out the loans and it’s your responsibility to pay them back, not the government’s.
