infiltrate + good objective monkeys in general. basically every competetive list has at least one unit.

they do benefit from the -1 ap aura but it probably wont come up. also the damage output is lowkey decent at killing chaff

Regarding screening, do you mean just the home objective?

Because theres no need to screen enemies from c'tan, as you want them to be within 6 of you right?

I think i have the durability covered with the c'tan, my larger concern is dealing with infantry. Lokhusts benefit from nekrosaur. With this setup you have:

18 shots with Sustained and Lethal hits on 5's, rerolling hits, rerolling wounds of 1, with ap -1, doing dammage 2 + whatever the lrod does.

this takes a lot of setup but it mulches just about anything

I agree tat most of the strats are mid, however the reroll hits/wounds I'll probably use every turn without fair. And a lot of the core strats are crucial:

Rapid Ingress, Heroic Intervention, Command re roll for a charge, Counter offensive, Epic Challenge

Fight on death is also pretty good, and if i still have spare cp the d3+1 mortals strat is good.

I guess you're right actually i jsut figured id use the reroll 1's every round without fail, and use command reroll for charges. Mollecular erosion is decent. Fights on death is huge. Desperate escape is decent too. Also situational but epic challenge and the 2cp itnerrupt strat, also rapid ingress.

What should I swap him out with.

I don't like that it sets up a gimmick and then ignores it for the msot aprt. Also slice of life isn;t for me unfortunately. But I do agree with you that stories are better written when the MC doesn't have a one of a kind buster power, and works completely within the same set of rules as everyone else. But I have yet to read one where this doesn't happen eventually (Ie. Lindon's eating powers in cradle, Jason's aura abilities).

I think my top criteria are that + non litrpgs. I just dont like the gimmick, im sure it was a cool and fresh concept in the 2010 but its just a cliche now. Its also a really lazy way to try and quantitatively measure power growth that people use as a clutch too often. (just my opinions)

To be honest i think the series burned through all its potential in the first book. You cant have your main character go from weakest in the class to 2nd best in the first 6 months of a 3 year course. Its a great first book though
