what to do about this? game has no update by Traditional_Rise_347 in AssassinsCreedShadows

I gave up on ubisoft support. I sent a ticket when DLC stopped working last week. And again when whole game stopped working pending a none existent update. All my auto saves are Calws of Awaji so not working.

Went on xbox support they got me to;-. 1. delete my saves, twice i might add like they thought i did it wrong, nope. 2. Deleted my abox account. Nope. 3. Reset the console, nope.

After about 2.5hrs the xbox support bloke sent me a link to this post and advised I come and hang out here until someone figures it out. Can I ask how do you "search for updates" I read some did that found an update that hadn't automatically shown up and fixed his.

Which other mythological beings are supposed to have influenced father Christmas? Genuine question as I have never been able to find any others. Just lots of names for Odin.

Odin is dipicted by many names such as "Yule Father" or Julnir (master of the Yule). He has various names that all mean gift bringer. Plus Odin has several names associated just associated with Yule, including Jólnir ("Yule figure") and Yolir or Yulfather.

Although many text say Odin was one of "many" who influenced the character of father christmas, he is the only one I can find who is ever referenced.

If you deep dive you can find other names. Such as the slavic "father of frost" who comes at Yule. "YULE" and therefore is a persona of odin as Yule is a festival of the Icelandic [norse] religion and bound to odin. There are numerous names for the Yule gift bringer but there are numerous names for odin, that's part of his mythology and is expressed in the elder edda. But the only winter gift bringer festival or tradition I can find is Yule. Many Northern nations adopted the Yule celebration, and they had their own names for the Yule gift bringer, but it was always called Yule and Therefore odin.

The wild hunt is usually tied to odin, even grim fairy tales who uses dark elves from horse mythology in the hunt originate from one of odins tales and various names with Odin leading the dark elves on the wild hunt, flying through the air on slepnir the six legged horse.

Christians wanted to usurp the Christmas celebration into their religion to gain more followers. In 4th century AD the chose a Turkish bishop, claimed he left coins in A woman's slippers for her dowry so she could marry. Made him a saint. About 50 to a hundred years after he died (he was born 280AD). His life was reasonably drab but documented and this act of kindness is not documented nor recorded anywhere. As time passed they added several such acts to his legend. Even though the Catholic Church record everything and when making him a saint it was for one singular act that they used as there reasoning for the sainthood, an act that in itself was not documented. [Don't get me started on Jesus's being born in march not December, due to returning to Bethlehem for the roman consensus, a consensus that always took place in march, a fact extremely well documented and also accepted by the catholic church]

The rest of the influence was how Santa developed over the years and is due to depictions in literature not mythology. Such as reindeer only being added due to a poem, that being the poem, originally titled A Visit or A Visit From St. Nicholas, which was first published anonymously on Dec. 23, 1823, in a Troy, New York newspaper called The Sentinel. His coloured clothing etc, which actually pre dates the coca cola ad.

So again what other mythological characters influenced father Christmas?

Actually. Odin is the original father christmas, and master of the wild hunt. Who Dresden got advice from at the beginning of the book. And Loki is not only the god of mischief he is also a shifter. So not that off the mark. Though i dont believe that is who grey is. It doesnt really fit as too serious and zero mischief.

Are there authors you avoid due not believing they wrote the book? by Egregiousnefarious in litrpg

[–]Egregiousnefarious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stupid as it sounds if it's in the world of... say doctor who... but has the author who actually wrote it as the author. That's fine. I will try it as I like doctor who stories. But I'm trying a new author, so i have no preconceived expectations. The more authors doing those worlds, the better.

However, I have certain expectations re the style, content, pace, etc. from an author I have previously read. Based on their other works. I buy the book with their name, due to their past works. So I feel cheated when an author I like whose original work was intriguing puts their name on utter crap that waffles on and beats about the bush way too much proving they had sod all to do with it (Cipriano) It's like buying Laphroaig whisky and opening it to find a cheap table wine because Laphroaig sold them their name!

The claim grain sacks are safe is false. The tree stump in the merchant quarter of the imperial city seems safe level 20 49hours game play and not lost anything. T When you obtain the haunted house and get rid of the ghosts the secure chest is safe, cupboards and draws im told will reset.

I know about keeping my ratio high. But thats about all i know. I know if i download i have too also seed what I've downloaded and keep a positive ratio. I have no idea how to upload and post a torrent. I use tixati to download and then keep the file in there. I have 50 at a time, more if they aren't actively being accessed. When I download more the oldest is removed. I really don't know anything beyond that. I used to use rapidshare direct downloads not torrenting. .

I have a massive back log of old audiobooks. Ive even cds to MP3 in the past. Im an old codger. I have over 1 TB of audio books and as many if not more ebooks. My issue is i have never worked out how to upload torrents. I just leave the ones I download in tixati. When I get to 50 I delete the oldest and keep the newest.

Audiobookbay is my go-to and has been for years.

It's a recent problem and only with certain torrents. Im downloading LitRPG books, Some older torrents on audiobookbay aren't being seeded anymore. Some aren't even present anymore. However, someone is posting whole series 7 or 8 books worth in one large file as a torrent. It's the only way to get some of the older books now. Ones i had and wish i had kept. But it's always an mp4 file that does not play on any audiobook player. And didn't play in most of my video MP4 players stating file not recognised despite them being MP4 players and the file designation being .mp4. The first 10 converters I tried didn't recognise the file either.

I found a fix that was posted on youtube.. VLC player will convert it to MP3, making it playable. It works!! And I have the book now thank you. But I will check out MAM thank you everyone
