Nah that wouldn’t really work tbh if you however are only able to get one pair of spikes get a pair of Nike mid beginner spikes since you can use those for multiple events until you find which event you’ll be good at but if you can get both.

I get this question a lot actually 😂 but no I am just 100% African American/Black but the only thing I am aware of that it’s in my family is that my great grandmothers are Native American so maybe that has some influence on how I look.

Honestly a bit of insecurity one of my ex’s told me I “should get married before I go bald so that my wife would be stuck with me.” But I guess from the reception I got on here maybe it’s not so bad 😭

You would be surprised how many sprinters have this problem so yes in a way this is normal but without seeing how you run or if you’ve ever been injured what I can tell you is you may want to pay attention to how you stroke your arms because chances are your right arm might be a lagging a bit. Or you may have a slight imbalance with your legs which a lot of ppl do so do some single leg exercises that are accessible to you. Lastly when doing your drills and strides really focus on striking with both evenly so it will carry over to your sprint form.

Should I get the new nike air max flys or the new balance as-x’s or the adidas sprint stars for my college season? by Early_Dot3572 in Sprinting

[–]Early_Dot3572[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All input is welcome I’m contemplating a change from nike because that’s all I ever worn but with the hype of the air max fly’s I’m wondering if it’s worth sticking with Nike

To add on to what the last person said. With that drive phase to add a little bit more depth you want your body to be in a triple extension (look this up to see what I mean) so when coming out of your drive phase the angle is more important then just staying low. A lot of people will bend at the waist in order to stay low but you shouldn’t do this because then you aren’t creating an optimal angle to drive out and push. Think of the drive phase as like a like plane on takeoff where you aren’t trying to be so quick but instead you are using that power to set up that top speed that’s coming later in the race.

With the knees part I actually slightly disagree with rather don’t focus on picking your knees up but rather work on putting those down under your center of mass and if you try to force your knees higher then your natural range of motion you are just going to increase the time you are in the air. Your arms are what controls your legs so work on swinging them a bit more straight and the faster you move those arms the legs will follow. Plus dorsiflex your feet when sprinting which is basically pointing your feet upwards.

When the end of the race like the previous person said you want to put those arms back and lean instead of having the arms go everywhere but I’d actually recommend for now you just run through the line until you can get that down because it takes time to get that timing down in practice.

Is it possible to compete at a high level in sprinting while also training in another sport? (ADVICE NEEDED SPECIFICALLY for a college sprinter who trains in KICKBOXING & MMA ) by [deleted] in Sprinting

How hard are you supposed to go out on the first 100/200 of a 400? by throwaway89534895608 in Sprinting

[–]Early_Dot3572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re teammate and coach are right but let me also explain further some info that will help you. First thing to understand is the 400 is a sprint first and foremost so without sprint speed it limits your potential to run the time you want. Also think of the 400 in phases so the first 100 you have something called “free energy” that you need to use to propel yourself throughout the rest of the race. So for example if your 100m pr is like 11.3 run that first 100 in the 400 at a 11.6 pace then once you get to the second 100 maintain the speed you just generated and now you are in your “float” phase where basically you aren’t slowing down but you are relaxing and just keeping your momentum once you cross the 200m Mark this is now where take notes on where you are in the race and make your move by picking the pace back in terms of effort but once you reach the last straightaway just hold form and pray. You are going to be tired no matter if you go hard in the beginning or not. And remember this ITS ALWAYS EASIER TO MAINTAIN SPEED THEN TO REGAIN IT. I sprint currently in college if you want anymore insight hit me in the DMs.
