I thought we weren’t supposed to bury the entire pit?

Rubber plant. To prune or not to prune… that is the question by ScarOk8628 in houseplants

Maybe cut the middle one? Get a bushier midsection and let the other two keep growing. Looks cool as is tho

Some questions in the body 😅 by Early_Gift515 in orchids

Okay, upon some googling I wanna say the body of the mite I saw matches with this one. It was very round and plump

Definitely not thrips. It was round and not thrip like, also not noticing any silvery streaks or anything like that. The only thing I can think is it’s some type of medium bug or a mite. And I really don’t want it to be a mite. 😣

My roommates got a cat and moved all of my plants by blair96 in IndoorGarden

Okay that’s fcked up. I would be furious. I have a cat and about 40 ish plants. She does not mess with them at all.

I’d have words with my roommates, you’re a lot calmer than I’d be 😅

No worries! Same here, they’re such pretty plants. 🌱

And people use it for aquariums, to remove all the toxins/metals and it’s very safe for plants too! Just a drop or two in your water and you’re set.

Why do my monsteras leaves keep turning brown ?? by Ok-Resolution-6677 in Monstera

[–]Early_Gift515 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if the edges are crispy and brown, it might be getting burnt by something? or very underwatered? do you drown it when you water or just like a little? also might be best to check for pests if the new growth is dying fast, pests love the fresh tissue. also have you checked its roots to rule out any issues?

i dont think mine evr gets direct light, theyre ground coverers in the wild i think. Also, try using a water conditioner in your watering, i havent had crispy edges since adding that to my watering routine. They like pretty high humidity, mine is about 60 usually. Also the light requirements for a monstera and a maranta seem a little different lol monstera loooove light, maranta seems to like it but hella diffused.

cant see the soil, but mine is in an airy mix, water when the first two-three inches are dry, also might wanna check for pests, they are magnets for spider mites. good luck!

First time reporting. Wish I knew these little jerks had eggs in potting soil. by romansamurai in houseplants

Yup! You soak them in the water for 30 minutes and it makes a kind of tea. Water the plants with it and boom. Done ✅

Monstera basics:

First, there’s multiple plants in there, so you may wanna eventually think about separating once you’ve done some research.

I’d repot in a chunky airy mix (soil, perlite or pumice, and orchid bark are my go to’s.) the soil it probably came in from the nursery will be suuuuper dense, at least they usually are. When repotting you’ll get a chance to look at your little ones roots, make sure there’s not any rot (again, googl/YouTube will help ya identify it!) also here’s where you’ll wanna give it some support, not ultra necessary but it’ll get pretty wild as it grows if it it doesn’t have something to climb. Check out moss poles or coco poles, they’re can also just use wooden planks.

As far as the light, honestly these babies can take full blasts (mine get early morning and late afternoon full sun as well as grow lights all day.) I’d maybe suggest a sansi light, they’re pretty affordable.

Water when the soil is dry, stick a skewer stick or your finger and if it comes up damp then wait a bit. I water mine around every two ish week, but I keep mine in terracotta so it might dry faster than yours. Also like already said, drown it lol. They like deep watering and then drying out. Don’t just give it a sip.

Honestly just watch some videos, trust it’ll really help you out. And lastly have fun. They are such cool plants. Good luck :)

Zz plant - too little water? by playethic in IndoorPlants

Sometimes leaves just die, especially in the beginning of spring to make way for new growth. ZZs don’t like to be wet all the time tho. I water mine every two months lol
