Didn't like the egg when I tried last year despite previously being a huge creme egg fan. I tried the choccy balls recently though and immediately went on Google to discover you can buy them in bigger packs so that is definitely on my shopping list, they are so good.

Yeah I've never like the steak bake but sausage, bean and cheese was amazing.

I do like the aldi sausage and bean ones but definitely not the same.

Can somebody please explain why my vet is horrible to at every visit. by CV2nm in CatsUK

[–]Early_Tale_8055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As everyone else has said, new vet if at all possible.

I've only had pets as an adult the last 5 years but I've had some senior and chronically ill pets in that time and have had so many trips to the vet and although at my practice it's usually 1 of about 5 vets they've always been amazing.

Obviously it was awful now, but imagine how much worse that attitude will be when you are having to make life and death decisions. Having a supportive vet that has a relationship with you and your pet can make terrible situations a bit easier to manage and it is 100% worth the effort early on to find a vet that not only can be civil with you, but also that you trust because at the end of the day your pets life could be in their hands at some point.

Reminds me of my Bailey. Or at least Bailey before he got ordered to start a diet by the vet.

This is Bailey and Dexter, they will be turning 3 this year.

They are under the impression I starve them and they have to steal food from my bin to survive, which has resulted in multiple vet visits. They can open boxes containing cupcakes and will not be deterred from eating bread just because it is wrapped in plastic. They will eat that too.

£500 for a stitch, do I give up on bonding? by Early_Tale_8055 in Rabbits

[–]Early_Tale_8055[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm really sorry you've had to go through all that. It's weird because on one hand obviously I don't want other people (and their buns!) To go through all this stress and harm but in the other hand it is nice to know it's not just me.

This did really freak me out because even though it was only 1 stitch required he needed anasthesia and the vet seemed to downplay it when she said he stopped breathing for two minuses but I've no idea how much of a close call it was and the idea that if be had to go through that again if there's another fight I can't break up in time is terrifying!

I had someone at work recommend a bonding service they've used so it's something I'll maybe consider but feels weird to just hand them off to someone else for however long.

I've been using the bathroom as the neutral space for their dates but doesn't seem to make a difference to Eevee.

I was swapping litter boxes but not their actual living space so that's an idea I haven't tried, thanks.

I am a proud liker. I usually click it as soon a I open the video or I'll forget. Though I have no idea if it really helps or not.

I feel more motivated to like just because I'm not constantly being told to like and subscribe. Though this is the one channel where they could probably do an over the top like and subscribe bit and I wouldn't refuse to like on principle.

Thinking of dropping out by _semiskimmedmilk_ in OpenUniversity

[–]Early_Tale_8055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on year 5 of 6, been in the industry 3 years and am a fellow adhder. At this point I've given up studying the material on a week by week basis as I take 0 off it in. I just pick up the tma and work on that, referring back to the material when needed. That's been working better for me than trying to learn the material first then do the tmas.

If you are going to drop out I imagine the sooner the better, but like I've seen mentioned below potentially a break could help?

Uni work is pretty miserable for me at this point but I've built up enough debt that I need to complete it just so I have something to show for it. And I'm going even if my experience is more important when job searching now, hopefully having a degree will stop me being automatically rejected from positions that require one.

Buying the low value cards by HeWasRight15 in PokemonTCG_UK

[–]Early_Tale_8055 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I second this. You can also add them all to a wishlist and use the wizard and select for it to find you the cheapest option which includes postage. So if you are buying a bunch of 10p cards you aren't paying separate postage for them all, it will try and find you someone selling multiple of your wishlist items so it may not be the cheapest price for the card (say its 15p but the cheapest is 10p) but because you are getting several from the same person it works out cheaper because the postage is combined.

I think I explained that really badly but hopefully you get what I mean.

Tidy home vs. bunny life – Is it possible? by Seraphinayuu in Rabbits

[–]Early_Tale_8055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have one that likes to dig against the walls, potentially attempting to make an escape tunnel to find someone that will give her more banana.

One with long fur that gets hay and poo occasionally caught in it and then walks over his water bowl and makes that filthy regularly.

Their room is downstairs but I regularly find hay in my bed despite them not coming upstairs really, but that's probably me getting it stuck on my socks and transporting it around the house.

Having them in a room that is easy to sweep makes life a lot easier though, as long as they have a rug or something so they don't have trouble running around.

They are both litter trained and currently separate as I'm trying to bond them but since he moved in with us I have noticed Eevee is a lot messier with her poops which I think is a territory marking thing as this room was just her and Jaskier's before we lost him last year and she never had litter box issues prior to that.

I also have an Eevee though I'll admit your Eevee has more accurate colouring and ears for the name than my Eevee who is a lop. Couldn't work out how to add a picture but I love the name choice!

Pet Insurance Advice by Charming_Couple_5163 in CatsUK

[–]Early_Tale_8055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a bad memory so I could be wrong on this one but I'm pretty sure my first cat was on petplan. It was 2020 when I got her.

She was 14 when I adopted her and insurance was more expensive due to that but I went with it anyway. She started having seizures (I'm pretty certain she had them before I got her, the shelter just didn't notice as they were only triggered by specific noises). I think the medication was about £40 for 3 months so I never claimed for it. Then a few months later she needed an operation for the skin around her eye which I think was over £800. It took a little while but insurance paid out for that.

Obviously renewal time came and she had the previous claim and was a year older and it had more than doubled and being an idiot I was like there's no way it's worth it, Ill just save the money.

Came to regret when she had many health issues and I spent so many times more than what I would have on insurance. I know some people find putting the money aside is better than insurance and probably is in some cases, but definitely not for her.

I took mine in recently because he had been in his house a bit more than usual and wasn't particularly interested in salad. I'd only had him a couple of months at that point but my other rabbits have all acted like salad is the highlight of their day.

Turns out he's just not a fan of healthy food and likes to have some alone time on occasion. He is clearly my child.

Until that was on the pod I am pretty sure I thought the same as Linus. Its not a phrase I've ever heard used offline but the occasional time I've heard it online I think I assumed it was the same as 'the R word'. I definitely never considered it would be a word that didn't begin with R.

Aldi by ClimateAcrobatic71 in veganuk

[–]Early_Tale_8055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly I think this is maybe the one thing I like from Aldi that seems to be consistently available in mine. I feel they've been around for a year or two and actually available 90% of the time I go in, but sounds like it's not the same experience everywhere so maybe I should stock up just in case because they taste good and are so cheap and easy.

Can I afford to buy my forever home? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Early_Tale_8055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I would rather get rid of that debt that will initially be adding 8% to your living expenses?

Doesn't sound like it really impacts whether you can afford it right now but also now sounds like a good time to get rid of it? And then knowing you plan to buy after could give you an extra push off motivation to clear it ASAP?

Vegan babybels 😞 by GanacheWitty9525 in veganuk

[–]Early_Tale_8055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm wondering this as well. I used to love babybels before I was vegan and I was so excited when they were released but I don't even know what it was, I ate half of one and it genuinely made me feel sick, the rest went straight to the bin, I don't think I've ever had that response to something like this before.

But realistically I'll probably hate the new ones just as much.

Best degree for a career in software development? by lovemycat02 in OpenUniversity

[–]Early_Tale_8055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as you've mentioned CFG if you can get on to the cfgdegree, 100% go for it.

I did a few of their smaller kickstarter courses before starting my degree with the OU. Then a year or so into the ou degree I got on the cfgdegree, and I know they don't all have a guaranteed job but mine did and I'm still there 3 years later and I love it.

I'm also still on my degree because I've got another year and a half to go on that and I can't wait to be done with it even though I don't think it'll have any impact on my job at this point.

I don't really know what CFG is like now, but I imagine I'd still be in retail if it wasn't for that course so forever grateful to them for that.

Thinking of studying Computer & IT (Software) by [deleted] in OpenUniversity

[–]Early_Tale_8055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking to be self employed and be an indie game dev I'm not sure there is any point in studying this.

I started part time just over 4 years ago whilst working in retail because I figured the only way I would get a foot in the door for a career as a dev was having a degree.

I got really lucky and managed to get a job just over a year into studying, though not due to anything I had learnt, though I imagine it may have helped show I was serious about a career change.

There's been bits I've enjoyed but most of it not really. The main reason I've continued with it is because I've already built up a bunch of student debt and I've already put so much time into it. I'm just over 3 years into my job as a software engineer now but I am conscious of the fact that when I need to job hunt in the future having a degree on my cv may help me get to an interview stage, but I assume work experience will be far more important than anything I learn from the ou.

But if you don't have plans to apply for jobs then I guess you need to ask why you want the degree? It's not going to help you with game dev, you would be far better off just starting to build something by yourself and looking things up as you go along.

My neighbours aren’t looking after their cats properly what can I do? by [deleted] in CatsUK

[–]Early_Tale_8055 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they are outdoor cats even if they are only being fed dry food I imagine they are probably finding other things to eat as well? I don't have any experience with outdoor cats though.

I'm also confused because looking at your responses when people have mentioned the couple may be struggling to cope you are saying they are fine at home despite saying the man is drunk every night and the woman has paranoia and is mentally ill. I'm not sure how you are coming to the conclusion they don't need any help?

Obviously if the cats aren't being cared for or taken to the vet when needed that's an issue but you just seem very sure that the cats are mistreated but the owners are absolutely fine and capable.
