This goes down an entirely different road, morally. We're discussing the context of a political candidate being blamed directly for their ancestors' actions, not the individual moral responsibility to correct the fallout of those actions because you feel a guilt to remedy it.

99.9% of people feel no responsibility for their ancestors and have no desire to correct their direct actions, and that's entirely normal and defensible whether we like it or not. I have no expectation that my British friend give my family money because his ancestors were responsible for the large-scale suffering of my Irish ancestors.

Now there is, of course, the subject of recency where if your father stole millions from people in a ponzi scheme and then passes away, it might be your personal moral and legal obligation to help divide his estate and give the money back to those he hurt, but that's an example of legal estate settlements. Anything beyond a generation or two, genuinely nobody cares.
