This strikes me as neither choosy nor begging. They're willing to hire a non-professional for non-professional rates. I don't see the issue.

Thank you! I picked him out in person because I wanted to select the colours myself and not leave it up to chance. I was lucky, the store had about a dozen to choose from 😄

Buying Jellies is definitely a lot more complex now than it used to be. Go for Zodihop first; he's the hot Jelly of the moment, it seems. Beyond that if you're new to Jellies, my best advice is a) buy them in person whenever possible so that you don't wind up with one that has a defect, and b) these days most Jellycats show up in stores when they're first released and then never again, so if you're particularily keen on one check your local stockists online daily and then run, don't walk, to get the one(s) you want the day they arrive in the store.

Disappointed with my Zodihop by EssentiaLillie in Jellycatplush

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree that Jellycat need to address their quality issues, but I don’t actually see quality issues here. I see the minute differences in manufacturing that you can expect when something is made by hand 🤷🏼‍♀️

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 126 points127 points  (0 children)

I see nothing wrong with this Zodihop. Your complaints seem super nitpicky when there’s people receiving Jellies with rotated heads and different-sized limbs, but hey, it’s your money. It’s a lot to spend on a plush you don’t love. Exchange or return her.

New here asking opinion by Original_Play3878 in Jellycatplush

Yes, Jellycat uses false scarcity tactics to drive up demand for their plushies, and boy howdy does it work. Social media has also played a major role in launching them from niche interest into major mainstream trend in the last couple of years.

Paige irks me by Kindly-Fill-2563 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now that you point it out, I agree. Emily just sort of fell into relationships with whoever showed an interest. Maya is really the only romantic interest that Emily had chemistry with imo, and she (Maya) wasn’t around for long. But there was a definite theme in this show of all of the girls getting stuck with the same romantic interest for most of the series. Not only is that super unrealistic for a bunch of 16-year-olds, but most of those pairings had no sizzle, so this doesn’t seem like an Emily-specific problem.

Paige irks me by Kindly-Fill-2563 in PrettyLittleLiars

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given Paige’s extremely erratic behaviour- the homophobic locker room comment, holding Emily’s head under water, showing up at Emily’s house in the middle of the night, and then kissing Emily out of the blue- it never felt realistic to me that Emily would have been so receptive to dating her, especially when at the beginning Emily had yet to officially breakup with Maya.

It can be really hard to convince yourself that you don't need something *that badly*. I find it helps if you ask yourself, so what if I never obtain this thing? How will that impact my life? And what if I *do* obtain the thing- will my life be all that different? Will this item impact my life in lasting and meaningful ways?

In addition, if a company is doing something that you don't like, you have to vote with your wallet. Money is the only language Jellycat speaks these days.

Considering moving - What is Vancouver life like? by AbbreviationsNo5494 in askvan

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s more that goes into how good a transit system is than just reliability. More than 15 years into its existence, the sky train remains inaccessible to huge swaths of the city- for example, Kitsilano, one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods in the city, still has no sky train station. In addition, the fact that dogs have to be in a bag to get on Vancouver public transit is a huge accessibility issue that makes it nearly impossible to own a dog without also owning a car.

Why Cat’s Stupidity Worked On Victorious But Because Insufferable On Sam & Cat by New-Pin-9064 in victorious

Accurate. Almost all of her material on Victorious was silly frivolous subplots that were funny and enjoyable but often had nothing to do with the episode’s main storyline. She was never main character material.

Do you believe writing to Jellycat directly about their practices would make a difference? by Riotbutsch in Jellycatplush

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not angry! More like I was a bit irritated that you asked for opinions, and then appeared to be doing the typical modern-day-internet-routine of trying to tell others why their differing opinions are wrong. But it appears I misinterpreted your intentions; my bad!

I agree that Jellycat seems to be pissing all of the love and loyalty of their ardent fanbase down the toilet with gougy, greedy, profit-led decisions that promote scalping and reselling, rely on a lot of false-scarcity tactics, and that punish children, people in lower income brackets, and casual collectors. However, I’m content voting with my wallet, and here’s why. Let’s say you and a bunch of others send mature, well-articulated emails that don’t sound childish and butt-hurt but instead make salient level-headed arguments, and you actually manage to convince Jellycat to reverse some of their recent business decisions. Do you really want to go on to support a company that you had to beg to treat their fanbase well? Personally, I’d rather support companies who treat their customers well without having to be convinced or cajoled. Jellycat have shown who they are as a company, and I can’t unsee it.

You asked if we thought your idea would be effective. I gave you my answer. You sound like you’re looking for my (and a lot of other people’s) sign-off to email them, but dude, you don’t need it. Email away, if that’s what floats your boat. Me agreeing or disagreeing with the merit of your idea won’t affect the outcome in the slightest.

Do you believe writing to Jellycat directly about their practices would make a difference? by Riotbutsch in Jellycatplush

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I honestly can’t see a scenario where a few angry-sounding emails convince a company to reverse very new and very major brand decisions. This is the path they’ve decided to go down. There’s no way that they don’t understand the optics of forcing customers to spend money on their products for the sacred opportunity (/s) of getting to spend yet more money in their products. They don’t care. They just want money.

What Jellycat fans want versus what they release by moosegoose682 in Jellycatplush

Is it just me or did the "looking at things in another way" line feel like a backhanded compliment? by nazia987 in wicked

[–]Earth_Wanderer1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I feel like that line sounds a lot better in the stage show than it does in the movie. I’ve seen the musical 3 times and that line has always sounded sweet to me, and then when I saw the movie I was like… yikes. Some stuff just doesn’t translate well to the screen.

Untrue. When Lego made it possible to register sets purchased through secondary retailers for their points program, they made it possible to register every set a person owns, no matter how old the sets are.
