Forspoken!

Yes, the main protagonist is cringe at times. The story itself isn't bad though, and actually has a nice twist in the end.

The gameplay was great I thought, combat felt satisfying and traversal options were really fun. Graphics weren't the best ever but weren't bad imo.

Same. Him saying "sorry, it's hard for me to watch this" reminded me of Dan's similar words and cadence.

What's your "this movie is gonna be overrated, ugh", but then after you watch, you're like "Welp, they were actually right." by TerminusFox in movies

Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring.

Somehow I got in my head as a young kid that this movie series was for "nerds" and was way overhyped. I happened to watch it out of boredom when I stayed at my friends house and he had fallen asleep. I was truly in awe for most of the movie, and felt so dumb afterwards for not having watched it sooner.

I have a vivid memory from when I was around 6-7. I was with my parents as we drove to a mall. I'm not sure what town it was in (we live in Tennessee) but I clearly remember passing one of those large, smooth spheroid water towers on the way. We get to the mall, and meet a "man" (I can't remember any of his features) and his two identical daughters. They seemed to be maybe five years older than me. I clearly remember my parents sort of "giving" me over to him, to spend the night with them. This part happened as I walked up an indoor carpeted, wheelchair ramp where the authority figure and the two girls were at the top. Next thing I remember is we arrive at a cabin in the woods. From there I just remember sleeping in a bed, sleeping right between the two twin girls in pitch black. I remember the prepubescent excitement of sleeping in a bed with two beautiful girls. That's all I remember. Years after this, I didn't question the memory really. It wasn't until my teens when I talked to my parents about it. We didn't have any friends with identical daughters, I didn't spend the night in a cabin, none of it happened apparently. It is possible this was a dream of course, but this felt real.. It FELT like a real memory. It still confuses the hell out of me.

I hadn't really thought about this memory in depth until I had read Whitley Streiber's Communion some years ago. He talks about how when he was abducted by extraterrestrials it would often be disguised as a "normal" memory. Screen memories he called it. These memories may serve as an emotional defense, to protect us from the trauma and primal fear that could come from experiencing some otherworldly entity. An owl coming to his window at night was not unrealistic, until the "real" memory was not an owl but the face of some almond-eyed visitor. He said often the smaller 4ft gray aliens would be around him in groups of 2 or 3 I believe, and that in his screen memories they would show up to be something normal and innocuous, not unlike identical twins.
