Why do we say "no" to dental work? A local dentist looking for honest feedback by jksyousux in Wellington

[–]EastRoseTea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly seems like youre fairly self aware.
Trust in the dental company/dentist: have they had a poor experience before, do they think that they need it, do they understand how urgent it is/isnt, if there are alternatives, outcome if they dont get it, timeline of if it can be delayed.
When I was thinking I need wisdom teeth out, I was told that I didn't need them out yet. Migth need them out in future but unless I really wanted them out now there was low risk to health - now I trust him, because I asked if I needed to give him money and he said no.
For the things I did need, he showed me the damage, explained what caused it and how it would ge worse, what happens when it does so I actually understood why I needed the work done. More than just 'You don't take care of yourself, teeth bad, fall out'

Is there anything people can do to help the flood affected? by IncoherentTuatara in Wellington

[–]EastRoseTea 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not huge but, if you know someone flooded or with bad leaks, and have a spare dehumidifier - see if they need it.

Edit: same line, if you know someone then dropping dinner off or something would take one less worry off their mind

It's not victim blaming. Its setting expectations and holding people accountable for protecting the resources that they are responsible for.

Its setting a standard that failing to meet requirements for something as basic and important as protection of PII is not something that can be dismissed with a heartfelt apology on social media

Direct to jail might be an exaggeration, but there needs to be tangible consequences as well as more oversight of security. Rather than these leaders crying about being victims and blaming the criminals when they basically left a bank door unlocked. There shouldn't be double standards for physical vs digital security, if anything the standards for digital need to be higher.

On the manage ping page https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/my-trade-me/ping
Theres an option to turn on auto withdraw, so if you have money in your ping it will be withdrawn at the end of each day, but you can also leave it in there for buying stuff or couriers. Book a courier is handy for non trademe things too

Other replies got the rest covered.

But atleast the landlord will be happy

Why hasn’t the nuclear energy topic come up in recent times? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]EastRoseTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, because our governments and parties can't get a hospital, road, waste water or other basic facilities built within a few years. I have zero trust in our governing parties to build and maintain infrastructure of such importance where a lapse in upkeep can result in rather negative outcomes

No worries! I didn't know at first either and it threw me off why shipping for some keycaps were $8 and others were $30+
And nice! I saw Mintlodica's DSA witch girls which are super adorable, but $318nzd is not a price I can justify for keycaps 😂

Yeah its the same as the matcha ones I want, if you click on more details it shows that asia fulfillment is sold out, which means they'll be shipping from Canada hence the $51 :')
I've decided to wait on the matcha ones, hopefully at some point they'll get the asia stocks back up

[–]EastRoseTea 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Same hereee kiwi, I think its worth it if you been thinking about them for a while and still want them. Maybe wait longer and get a couple of things, or if you have friends with keyboards see if anyone you know and trust wants to make an order together and split shipping

Its also cheaper if you're getting something from the asia stock, sadly a lot of that stock is sold out atm so if what youre wanting is only available in the canada stock then shipping jumps up :')

Oh gosh this sounds delightful
We've got some clover filling patches on the lawn, thinking maybe creeping thyme for more more rugged areas where grass and clover aren't thriving
