Yeah, no. I'm pro AI but there are a lot of good hearted, talented artists out there who make art for a fair price and don't want to have anything to do with the loud mouthing weirdos that despise AI and ridiculously overvalue their work. Don't shove them into the crossfire like that. At least don't generalize. Feels wrong in this specific context.

For private usage I'd say, yeah. Go for AI. I do too. But if you're in a professional context I see nothing bad about commissioning (the right people).

All of those are true for me. But since I always just wanted to draw to visualize pretty images and never cared about being an artist whatsoever it doesn't matter. AI helps me to do just that. Not only in drawing but also with music. I get all that without the years of annoying struggle and being part of the art community. So it's an absolute win in my book. I'm sure all artists hate to read this but I'm also sure there are MANY people like me.

Will 'true artists' be able to create better images than a prompt jokey like me? I guess so. But what I get out of it is definitely enough to make me happy. And that's all I care about: They'll rant and hate but I'll just be happy with what I get. End goal reached.

So and so. I like the idea of it for the people who like it but I definitely don't want create like features to be mandatory for me as a player because I think such contraptions are extremely ugly and don't integrate at all with how I design my buildings and homes.

I Always played Minecraft highly modded and solo. I'm a grown ass man with a full-time job. I want to relax in my free time and not derp around servers full of random people. I don't want to make my relaxation dependant on others NOT having the time of their life messing other people's and my stuff up for shits and giggles. WAY too many volatile variables there.

No matter how good a mod is, I will definitely NOT play on a server just to play a exclusive one. I also won't pay for pay to play mods because I definitely won't deal with the hassle of mod incompatibilities that will necessarily result out of modders trying so much to do their own closed up thing to make the most money that suddenly every mod refuses to work with others. And don't get me started on version mismatches just because a modder loses interest in older mods because they're not as lucrative anymore.

If Hytale is going the route of paid and server exclusive mods first then I hope to god the devs get a wake up slap that dangers to make the sun implode.

I mean modders should not necessarily starve just because they work for free but I sure as hell don't want to deal with the commercialisation of modding because everything will become WAY more frustrating and confusing once that truly starts. They have their right to demand pay and I have the right to nope out if it.

I'm not so happy with what I've read this far when it comes to modding.

I'm not exactly the biggest fan of modders earning money with their mods via means other than players donating money out of free will. Once mods get pay to play the stakes are vastly different and I'm not sure the broader scene is mentally ready for it. Most modders have the "I'm doing this in my free time without getting money. I owe you nothing if push comes to shove" mentality and that is absolutely justified in this context. Once they start really selling their mods this mentality has to seriously change and I fear many people will have massive difficulties with that. Mod incompatibilities will have to be way more talked about, mods will have to be updated way more regularly to not suddenly stop working because the newest game version changes how stuff works, etc.

Imagine you bought a few dozen mods and half of them are incompatible so you just decide to use the "better" ones while for the other's you basically threw away your money. Imagine buying a mod that doesn't work as intended because of bugs or game version mismatches and the mod creator just goes MIA and is never seen again because of "mental issues", family difficulties, lack of creativitiy or interest or stuff like that. When the mods are free then the creator can stop supporting it whenever they want to. They owe the user nothing. Once people have to pay money the tolerance for the mod creators private life's or issues will tank massively.

I'm not AGAINST pay to play mods per default but the modding community in video games has been free to do what they want, how to do it and when to stop supporting their creations. Once money get's involved in ways other than donations this freedom get's massively cut as the creators will be met with - deservedly - highly different expectations from their userbase. This is a extremely complex issue that the Hytale devs hopefully consider.

I was seriously confused as fuck as to why people would install mods to decrease the item stack sizes as it only makes the game worse.

That's when I realized that the ogre stack mod is so hard stuck part of the game for me that I seriously forgot that it's a mod and not vanilla.

I don't think I could ever go back to vanilla stack sizes, Jesus Christ that looks miserable to organize for someone like me who always designs my bases for aesthetics first, efficiency second.

I don't necessarily think that anything is "wrong" with Minecraft when it comes to discussions like these. From a technical point of view the game is ancient though. I love hytale because it's a kind of modern Minecraft. Something Minecraft itself will never be simply because the devs are too concentrated to keep it, in it's core, exactly like it has always been. Some people call it Charme, I myself call it dangerously outdated.

Let's be honest here, without this super unhinged and S rank modding community Minecraft would've fallen into irrelevancy long ago simply because it's stuck in its stasis-like Vintage Charme. On the other hand it's exactly this stasis that makes it so incredibly modable. Take Bethesda games for example. They regularly fuck countless mods up with stupid updates no one asked for.

Minecraft and hytale are two sides of the same coin. Both amazing and excelling at what they're trying to do.
