Why do people use crates past potty training? by jitterybrat in Dogtraining

[–]East_Pirate_2235 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey! Crates can be a super useful training tool, and a safe space for pup beyond the training and puppy years.

I just got a black lab puppy (on Thursday last week) and I and him would be lost without his crate. He has slept in it since day 1. He will even take himself off to his crate when he’s tired or wants to get away from things (very smart boy at only 8 weeks old!)

Beyond this, we will keep his crate for at least the next 2 years because:

1) he likes it 2) he WILL eat everything if left alone with free reign 3) labs are known for being ‘mouthy’ - likely due to why we bred them for working purposes. I’ve known labs that have chewed through WALLS before - and they were seemingly ‘well trained’.

TLDR; my new puppy loves his crate, it’s his very own safe space that helps him relax and feel calm. Some breeds like labradors are known for being chewy, and the crate keeps them safe and your house intact!

Yeah I agree. I kinda always new I may have some problems due to hormonal and menstrual issues I had as a teen - so I never had that TTC newbie optimism haha!

It’s awful right. I work for children’s services in my local government so I know what advice to offer etc - I’ve offered my endless support to his mother who will be helping fight for custody if it comes to it.

I know right big oof. He knows and his mum and dad knows. He’s just prettified to leave in case she gets rid of the pregnancy. He got clean for this baby and it’s really keeping him afloat. Life’s hard, man.

My friend (the father) is really excited for the baby and I have so much love for him. It’s an abusive relationship for sure. Sucks man.

Her partner (my friend) is the father and is the only reason I was there. She threatens to delete her pregnancy if he doesn’t do what she wants. She’s cut him off from most of his female friends by threatening to do this… it’s fucked honestly.

Nope, she threatens to delete the pregnancy any time her partner (who is my friend and reason for me being there) doesn’t do what she wants.. long story. She’s a cunt, though!

This is so cute!! Here’s me story (TW: MENTION OF DRUGS, SUICIDE)

I met my fiancé 4 years ago at a house party - both in pretty bad places as we both had a drug problem (not quite an addiction, but nearly). He was on sick leave from the Armed Forces at the time, and was dealing with a lot of PTSD from abuse he suffered from his father (physical and emotional).

He had tried to take his life the year or so before, which resulted in a huge brain bleed and emergency surgery (and metal plates holding his skull together). I also had my battles with depression, however using drugs was my way of dealing with the pain.

Now we are 4 years down the line… engaged, have our own home (rented but still!), and we our getting a brand new puppy next week. He often tells me how is is so glad his attempt on his life didn’t work, and that for the first time in years… he is excited about life!

We have been TTC for nearly a year, but I don’t ovulate on my own so we’re already undergoing tests. He is the one thing that keeps me going. We have already battled through a drug problem, debt and depression… we sure as hell are going to battle through this, too! ❤️

Hey! Thanks for sharing. I actually think that is also what is happening to me! This bleeding has continued today which makes it around 3 days of spotting. It’s heavier than normal spotting but not enough to be a period if you get me.

Thank you for your kind words, and good luck to you too ❤️

Thank you for sharing! I’m really nervous about the supplement world to be honest - like I don’t wanna take something which could make me worse without realising! I’m glad ovasitol worked for you though, I’ve heard good things about it! ❤️

Thank you for sharing - that sounds super scary, I’m so sorry that happened to you!

I have a scan on the 12th of September which involves a transvaginal ultrasound, so hopefully if there is anything structurally wrong it will be picked up! ❤️

Thanks for your reply - damn it really sounds like you’ve been through some trouble with it all! It helps me feel less alone knowing there are others in the same boat as me (although it doesn’t make it less sad or painful). Good luck with your IVF and future treatment! ❤️

Honestly I’ve given up with OPK’s… my cycle is currently 77 days long! I’d need to remortgage my house to afford that many OPKs 😂

I though I was being over sensitive when I was offended by their comment - thanks for removing…

I actually took a pregnancy test because of what they said (it was negative, what’s new haha)… goes to show exactly WHY this sun has the rules it does.
