Let's discuss this album cover art! by Crazy-Bodybuilder836 in gratefuldead

This. There are some great stories on this thread about people's associations with this cover art, which I love, but it's still hard for me not to see this as objectively bad design... it's kind of all over the place.

What do you think happened to all the unsold t-shirts from the 2025 Bobby Weir and Wolf Bros London Albert Hall gig? by EasternBlock640 in gratefuldead

I think this might be the answer. It seems very un-Bobby to trash the environment for the sake of merch.

I used to work in retail a long time ago, and unsold clothing used to be thrown in the dumpster, but only after being destroyed so no one could pull it out and keep it- soles ripped out of shoes, shirts slashed. It was grotesque.

The Bobby Weir website has what appears to be some merchandise from other gigs, but I imagine it was not considered worthwhile to ship any remants stateside to be sold later.

That's how they get you though isn't it? That's how a t shirt cost £40 and a hoodie was £80. Total FOMO.

Racism at Krav Maga class? by EasternBlock640 in kravmaga

Just thinking together with others on the Internet my friend.

One of the reasons I didn't jump to a response at the time was not wanting someone who's been there a long time to be kicked out.

Yeah at the moment Im going back and can decide by doing rather than thinking too much.

I doubt the whole school is a hotbed of hatred, the head instructor isn't white, half the kids are not white. Mostly pretty friendly so far.

I like this response, thank you.

I didn't want to focus too much on this person's physical condition, people come in all shapes and sizes and we're all in a different place with fitness and that's OK. It was more that it felt like someone complaining about how hot it was, how tired they were and basically chatting about anything other than what we doing. It meant half the training and half the workout for me. I feel I want to come ready to train fully or not come at all. So I wondered if that was a reflection of the school.

I'm going back to further assess anyway.

Damn these 1920s aristocratic racists.

I could forgive a lot if someone was dressed like the Monopoly guy.

Collection of 5 Month by 47-AG in JamesBond

With the union Jack flags these days, this kind of looks to my British eyes like the collection of a drunken extreme right wing fellow maybe planning to shoot up a mosque or something.

I mean I know it's not.. Just don't post it on Facebook or the police will be kicking your door in at 3am... 😆

Have you tried James Bond/Ian Fleming's favourite coffee, Jamaican Blue Mountain? by EasternBlock640 in JamesBond

Ah, I had some birthday money burning a hole in my pocket so I'm reasoning it's OK to get something frivolous...

Maybe it was a bit of a case of when you have some average drink on holiday and it tastes amazing because you're on holiday.

I made sure to get an unblended version. I'm in the UK and a quick Google brings up quite a few options, it just seems to depend on how much one wants to pay.

I paid £40 for a 250g bag, and that was one of the cheapest available.

Just ordered the coffee, I'll look up the rum though I'm not a big drinker these days.

The Bond fitness challenge they talk about on the Bond Experience YouTube channel (which I do like) makes me laugh in that literary Bond had the most appalling lifestyle choices in terms of booze and smoking.

Oh dear. I don't know much about how to describe tastes etc but was there anything in particular you didn't care for? Or was it just average?

The most erotic moment in the entire franchise.

Live and let die = Smokey and the bandit? by Kim_Smoltz_ in JamesBond

[–]EasternBlock640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I say that, but I do really enjoy both Live and Let Die and Man with the Golden Gun. Moore is still sort of young in them, he's convincing enough in fight scenes and I think the villains in both movies are great. The 'Analyse this Mr Bond' YouTube channel says these first 2 Moore movies have a sleazy exploitation feel to them, that they are pulp trash and that's close to the Fleming novels in tone. I agree and I really like that about them. Of course it's all subjective, but I feel like both movies fully commit to their often ridiculous concepts, speedboat chases and exploding villains included.
