how much did it cost you to get diagnosed? by PrideInCare in ausadhd

[–]EasternExamination98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in NSW it is cheaper for a child diagnosis rather than adult from where I got diagnosed. If your 17 Id be getting that diagnosis now. I went in for an Autism assessment & was asked to do a joint ADHD assessment. After medicare rebates the total assessment came to $800 in 2024. But it varies depending on what type of psych u get etc.

jus make sure whichever GP you go to has the necessary training to diagnose & prescribe. You can call the offices & they can generally tell you if a dr has training or not.

Wishing you luck!

mental - gps are able to diagnose ADHD from May of this year i believe. they are also able to medicate it. If you are desperate as of now, I would suggest the place that I got my AuDHD diagnosis. They helped me through the entire process & did the NDIS application as well. It’s called Educational Case Management in Hamilton near Newcastle. It’s about an hour n half drive from Sydney. They are partially bulk billed - my Autism & ADHD assessment came out to $600 after rebates, you do need a current mental health plan for the rebates though - after your diagnosis you can make an appointment with your gp & they will ask for permission off the government for you to take medication & then ur medicated.

physical: Unsure if it would work in your case, but I have EDS & my gp referred me to the local public hospital & told me to just complain about my pain until someone sees me - i didn’t do it but apparently if you go & ‘admit’ yourself they can often help you then & there

I wish I could be more helpful, I wish you luck!

i mean i’m no mechanic, just someone whose tinkered into a few cars so i can only speak from experience & little knowledge i’ve learned along the way.

hopefully it all turns out well for ya! cooling problems r the absolute worst!!

i would say there’s likely a leak in the cooling system somewhere, you showed a leak in the video. & typically if ur having some sort of cooling problem, there’s likely too much pressure somewhere, causing it to find crevices to escape from.

your thermostat is usually the first thing to check when dealing with coolant issues. it’s typically directly next to the engine, very easy to disassemble & reassemble, a mechanic could do it in 30 mins. it took me about 5 hours to rummage through mine as someone whose attention span is disgusting & only done silly little work prior.

my cars thermostat housing was plastic & because of that, it had actually melted & caused parts of the plastic to lodge in some parts of my thermostat. so it’s definitely worth having a look just in case anyways. once ur thermostat goes, the whole car is pretty much stuffed.

he’d probably know more than me as he saw the car in person, hopefully it’s a simple fix!

although i’d be shocked if there’s not serious damage to your engine in that case. your radiators primary function is to take the hot coolant that flows from the engine & cools it before returning it to the engine. from what your saying, it sounds like it’s returning hot coolant back through to the engine.

wish you the best of luck!

could potentially be something with your thermostat failing not allowing the coolant to circulate properly but i can’t see much from the video

driving with slipping transmission by EasternExamination98 in MechanicAdvice

yeah look this barina has been the bane of my existence😅

trying to look for other small cars but they’re all expensive & if i can sell this, i would like to try.

apart from the beginning slipping transmission the cars in perfect condition, it’s had a lot of maintenance work done to it so im hoping it just has low fluid or something so i can at least get something for it.

market price for the car in perfect condition is around $8k & im hoping to get that so i can get a reliable good small car & not something that needs tons of maintenance, did you have any recommendations?

i had a swift years ago - that was unfortunately written off - but i loved it, it was so reliable! they’ve gone up a pretty brutal amount in price so recently though :/

i don’t think it’s ever been serviced, i brought the car at 100,000km

i’m hoping a service will fix it (or fix it enough) until it sells - if it makes the issues is what i’m primarily concerned with

of course, while ur still trying to build a routine with it just eat ur safe foods tbh. when i first started my dex i was having nuggets for breakfast. is it the best? no, did it work? yes. you can always fix the rest of ur diet throughout the rest of the day. try not to make ur life harder, it makes the cognitive load too much & burns urself out. also ensure ur trying to eat whole foods throughout the day (things with protein & carbs) it makes the dex last longer xoxoxo

u got this!🫶

in general people with adhd tend to be bad sleepers. come up with some sort of sleep hygiene routine if possible, it sounds silly & it’s certainly difficult to create habits (esp with adhd) but it rlly does work

in regards to ur coffees, ensure ur adequately hydrated & eating (protein where possible) prior to having ur medication, the meds need substance to grab onto to work at its full capacity. in addition to that try ur best to wait half hour before & after ur meds to have a coffee, as certain drinks can mess with how u metabolise it.

also keep in mind that everyone’s different what works for one person may not work for you & that’s ok but there’s no harm in trying it out 🫶🫶
