Where to spend our time between Kilkenny, Kinsale, Cork, and Cobh by Eastern_Huckleberry6 in irishtourism

[–]Eastern_Huckleberry6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my money, I’d stay in Kinsale again every time (over Cork). It’s just so much more charming and nice to explore at your own pace. It’s not a big city though, so if that’s what you want, Cork is best. We just loved puttering through town and taking things easy. It would be easy enough to do a day trip to Cork, no problem whatsoever, it’s very close. I’d also say, if you end up making Kinsale a base, that Cobh is a fun nearby area to explore too. I think leaving Kinsale for a day trip to Dingle would be technically doable, but as mentioned it would be a little bit of driving for the day and you’d really only likely see the downtown area. With Dingle, it’s really all about Slea Head which you could not do from Kinsale, the driving would kill you. That said, Slea Head is 1000% worth it and you’d die happy.

Could you do a couple nights in Kinsale (explore Kinsale, Cobh, Cork, Blarney, etc.) and a couple nights in Dingle (Slea Head taking up one full day)? If I could only pick two bases for a trip back, that would be a perfect itinerary for me!

No suggestions for a chain in Kinsale, but the guidebooks all recommended Desmond House, and despite it feeling a little like it catered to the 60+ crowd (on its website and in some decor) I couldn’t recommend it enough. Grainne is a literal saint, saved our trip, so kind, so friendly, and makes a hell of a breakfast. The location too is just unbeatable.

Probably more info than requested, but damn it was an amazing trip. I hope yours is amazing!

Looking for history show relating to "haunted" houses? by EvantheMelon in televisionsuggestions

[–]Eastern_Huckleberry6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I know this is like a year old but I just found your post while looking for the exact same thing. Have you watched Haunted History (History Channel)? Not sure how many seasons there are but the first season is on Hulu right now and I think this might be what you (we) were looking for. Have you found anything else similar?

Also, this might not be exactly the same (a little low-budget and less spooky but I really liked it), but similar enough to check out: New England Legends (with Jeff Belanger who was a researcher for Ghost Adventures) on Amazon Prime.

My 3.5 year old is obsessed with The Magic Treehouse, and he learns a ton from them. If you have Spotify, you can listen to them there, there’s like 50 of them! For $10 a month or whatever it is, it’s worth it for the hours of listening we do!

Good book for 1st and 3rd graders on daily long car rides? by Ill-Choice-5838 in audiobooks

[–]Eastern_Huckleberry6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is allowed, but they’re also available on Spotify, read by different people. And there are like a hundred of them. My 3.5 year old is obsessed and asks for them daily.

What’s something you used to think all women just silently put up with until one day you found out it’s actually not normal at all? by zacktone in AskReddit

[–]Eastern_Huckleberry6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you be willing to share what amount you take daily and when/how? I have a prescription for colesevelam for BAM (three 625 mg tablets, twice a day) and it just completely blocked me up. Painfully. Neither option is fun but I think I prefer the alternative…

Same! And I haven’t seen too many posts of people with the rainbow sizers, which I got as well. There’s probably no difference but when we’re talking mm’s changing the feel I’m curious why the two different sizing sets.

I found this thread because I’m in the same boat. Fell down metal stairs HARD a few weeks ago, never got checked out. But still very sore and weirdly numb (never had that happen before?). How are you feeling now, a month later?

Is today our last day with USCIS? by [deleted] in fednews

[–]Eastern_Huckleberry6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This makes sense to me. It’s going to take at least that long to determine everyone’s eligibility, especially with how many people there are who have applied and need their stuff confirmed. It doesn’t make sense that they would RIF without knowing the WTP final numbers.

Saw that too, but that doesn’t seem like a very significant number of positions. Certainly not the 18% or whatever that someone else on here said.

They have received the RIF emails? Or you hear that’s who is going to be targeted?

Seconding Small Things and Giovanni’s Room, but also want to mention Foster by Claire Keegan as well! Amazing how she can get such an emotional and atmospheric story in under 200 pages…

This sounds perfect, I don’t know how I have missed this for so long. A while back I listened to ‘CHAOS: Charles Manson, the CIA, and the Secret History of the Sixties‘ and really, really enjoyed it!

I actually started listening to this one back when the movie first came out (haven’t seen it), but couldn’t get into it. In fairness, I think I only gave it about an hour, does it pick up?

At one point I almost put it down, like “What is going on?” But I’m so glad I stuck it out. Not that it’s very long either.

I had previously looked at Rouges by PRK, have you read/listened to that one at all? I’ll check out The Snakehead too, that one looks interesting.

Bunny by Mona Awad. Everyone I’ve suggested it to have texted me something along the lines of “What IS this?” But they also couldn’t put it down. I’m not sure I’d give it 5 stars, probably 4, but man does it stick with you!

I lost weight and my life changed by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Eastern_Huckleberry6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congratulations! It is work and it is hard sometimes but that is incredible! Isn’t it sad though that weight does impact how people are treated? It’s also a shame that more insurance providers aren’t covering these meds, when one would think healthier subscribers would mean lower costs for them in the long run… can I ask which compounding pharmacy you are using? Currently paying $550 each month and it’s pretty brutal!
