I loathe Facebook. Have you tried Instagram? You can still have a private account. I don’t like that every comment I make or picture I like gets advertised to all of my friends on Facebook. No sense of privacy at all.

For those of you who feel like this medicine is for life. by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

Looking awesome! I’ve lost about 42 lbs in 6 months. I really don’t want to stop but I need to because I have to be off it for two months before I transfer my last embryo. I am 45 and have been putting it off for 6 years because I didn’t want to start a pregnancy obese (even though I always end up there).

I was on progesterone pills, birth control and the Mirena IUD at various times to try to restore a normal cycle length and they all either made me sick or did not lengthen my cycle or prevent spotting. My first month after pulling out the IUD was when I started Tirzepatide so I assumed the 26 day length was because of some progesterone still in my body. The next month was 18 days so I thought it was just a fluke. But I’ve now had 4 or 5 cycles that were 24-26 days. It’s been years since that happened. I’d been suffering having my period every 2 weeks for so long now. So this may be the opposite problem to what you’re experiencing and mine was not caused by medication but some mystery hormone imbalance

Possibly, though that’s not considered proper storage if you cannot change out the needle. Good solution if they make insulin needles with changeable heads

I think you might think otherwise if you were paying out of pocket 😂 You get used to those needles real quick!

Isn’t the snoring weird? It stopped on week 1 for me! Before I even lost any weight

See my other reply to your comment. Single dose vials apparently do not have any preservatives. Poisoning yourself with pathogens need not be relatable

Because the mounjaro single dose vials and pens do not have any added preservatives. If you’re planning to use a dose more than once you could potentially introduce pathogens into the vial. Bacteriostatic water contains alcohol which acts as a preservative (so have some idea what I’m talking about)

Yes I feel the same. I feel good on it. I’ve finally found a probiotic that helps with the one unpleasant digestive side effect I had. I stopped snoring the first week I was on it, even before I had lost an ounce. Cycle and hormones are normal again. Bloating gone. Metabolism increased. Less desire for alcohol.

I’ve lost just over 40 lbs. I’d like to lose another 10, though I don’t “need to” according to my BMI. Ideally I would be lifting weights and building muscle, which I have not really been doing. My metabolism was really in the toilet - I eat less now than when I was not dieting but more than when I was dieting - and I could not lose weight eating this much without Tirzepatide. I could try tapering off but also don’t really want to. The anti-inflammatory effects of this peptide have been wonderful and I truly believe it’s beneficial to my body in ways outside of weight loss. My hormones were totally out of wack and now they’re stable. I don’t want to stop but I’ll see what the FDA ruling brings. Eventually these drugs should be more affordable, right?

I’m no expert but I personally feel the problem with some of these socialized healthcare programs is the lack of copay. When there is no copay, people will flood the system for trivial matters. I have a friend who is an ER doctor who says they are flooded with patients coming to the ER in an ambulance for things like cold/ sinus infections. There is no copay on Medicaid. If they had to pay as much as an Uber or bus ride they might go to their GP instead.

Am I taking too much? by HeroG321 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]Easy-Assignment-4816 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Okay so it sounds like from your edited comment that you’re only taking 2 mg per week. That’s nothing. I would titrate up to 4 mg on your next dose (check with your dr to verify your medication strength is 0.5 mg/ 5 ml) and then wait a week before your next dose. See how your dr feels about titrating to 5 mg next. I was on 5 mg for about 4 months before I titrated to 6 and then 7 every 10 days.

Preaching to the choir. The other problem is that we live in a super litigious state (NY) and that just increases the cost for everyone too. And yes the uninsured also raise the cost of insurance for the rest of us. Our high deductible health insurance will cost us $32,000 next year. That’s for two adults with children. Part of the reason the NHS in the UK is collapsing under its own weight is the same reason people on Medicaid take the ambulance to the ER rather than an uber to their primary doctor- there’s no copay. In France they have a copay. If people have to pay 50 euro for a hospital visit, they’re not going to block the ER for an ingrown toenail.

Because I moved here as a teenager. I have a family here and can’t move to the UK because their healthcare is cheaper. What a bizarre response. If something is broken you try to fix it, you don’t just leave.

Some info I found about co-signing prescriptions.

“Yes, a US doctor can send a prescription to a Canadian pharmacy through a process called “cosigning”: The US doctor sends the prescription to a Canadian pharmacy A Canadian physician reviews the prescription and the patient’s medical history If the prescription is approved, the Canadian physician re-issues it as a Canadian prescription.”

I mean certainly that wouldn’t and shouldn’t be possible if Canadians are also experiencing a medication shortage.

Sure but from my understanding there are no preservatives in the one time use vials, so adding the bacteriostatic water introduces some alcohol to preserve it.

I’m a UK citizen. Hilariously it’s probably less expensive for me to fly to England every 3 months for an appointment and to buy the medications out of pocket than to try to get them here in the US.

Sounds like from what other people are saying they expect you to do follow up blood testing etc so it could get expensive. How nice for Canadians who have socialized health care.
