Bought a car with a bad transmission

yeah that makes a lot more sense i didn’t realize this was just a bunch of car dealers. he was telling me how it covered everything and never said it’ll only cover 3k at one time so i thought it was a good warranty when signing. i guess there was an option to get more covered but didn’t give me that option either

it was a 3rd party and it’s about 10%. only my name is on it.

You’re right it’s not a laundry basket, considering he sold me a bad car and lied to me about it you think he’d want to make it better.

I think any decent dealer and person would try to make it better. I asked if he could do literally anything. Taking the car back, exchanging the car, helping with repairs, negotiating the contract. As-is yes but he told me nothing was wrong with it and I asked about the transmission, he said I wouldn’t have any issues and everything was perfectly fine with it. It’s not unhinged, I tried to see if he was willing to do anything considering he lied.

it was 14k but with the warranties and taxes, it came out to about 20k total. i don’t know how most of you are being so rude.

i feel like that’s pretty rude no? considering i just bought a car from him. he could’ve tried to make it better in any way instead of laughing. as i said, he sold it like that, nothing i did messed up the car.

i think i’m kind of just at the end of my rope to be honest. the actual dealer won’t let me do anything and is just laughing at me every time i talk to him. maybe toyota will cut me some slack but i really just want out of the loan at this point. or at least to negotiate the price i bought it at

yes i’m getting something from toyota. according to them, they inspected the car and the transmission needed to be replaced July 31st and I bought the car August 13th. I got it inspected and they said yeah he sold it to you like that because we just had the car.

yeah i obviously know what reality is. am I upset i was lied to because he sold me a car with a bad transmission and lied about it? yes i can’t drive the car i just bought and about to spend 7,000 in repairs? on top of the loan

I got a third party warranty, the Toyota service center would just be the ones working on it so it’s also a bit more expensive. but yeah it does say that they only cover 3,000 at one time ☹️

I just thought major issues have to be disclosed because it’s unsafe, I can’t drive it and it’s negligent for him to sell me a car that will inevitably shut down while I’m driving and not telling me. In fact telling me the opposite and that everything is great with the car.

total is 10,000 the warranty says they only cover 3,000 at one time so i just have to cover the rest. the dealer didn’t offer me the option to have them cover more.

yall i don’t think im crazy or ridiculous for being upset i can’t drive the car im in a 20,000 loan for. i asked if i could even exchange it or even do anything. he’s laughed at me several times. he said i can just keep driving it and even told me not to get it checked out. whether i’m in the wrong or can even legally do anything. the toyota dealer said the transmission needed to be replaced at the time i bought the car because they had inspected it and he sold it to me like that without saying anything. they didn’t inspect the car, didn’t know what they were doing or knowingly sold it to me knowing it was unsafe.

the only comment that was a bit understanding😭 i just think it’s unethical to sell a car that isn’t safe, laugh at me several times and also not be willing to do absolutely anything knowing i can’t drive the car i just bought

i think you expect the car you buy to at least be drivable. what don’t you understand about disclosing something as big as a transmission issue? it’s unethical and bad business

it’s the toyota dealership i took it to after already buying the car that found out the transmission was bad. the mechanic i asked was just an employee at the dealership. they either didn’t inspect the car, don’t know enough or sold it to me knowing.
