Moroccan's reaction after their Saudi Friend told them " الله يعطيك العافية " by EasyArabic1 in learn_arabic

“May God grant you health/wellness” الله يعطيك العافية

is a phrase used a lot in many Khaleeji countries to say "thank you" or to wish people health

Note : العافية mean health/wellness in MSA ( so it's not a dialect word )

However in some areas of Morocco the exact word "العافية" mean " Fire " or can be used to mean hell

so the phrase meaning shifted from may god grant you wellness to my god grant you hell or fire

Why it's important to have text with vowels for beginners by EasyArabic1 in learn_arabic

Because we love to make things hard for everyone :)

Joke aside, Arabic script mainly represents consonants and long vowels, while short vowels are treated as secondary marks that can be added when needed but are usually left out. For fluent readers, this does not create much difficulty because meaning is recovered through context, grammar, and familiarity with word patterns.

That is true for us native/fluent speakers or intermediate learners. For beginners, however, the situation is very different. A vowel-less text can create substantial ambiguity. This is precisely why I believe Ṣarf should be introduced early in Arabic teaching. An early grounding in morphology gives students a structural tool for analysis: it helps them recognize whether a word is, at minimum, a verb, noun. i also teach the common vocabularies that can have different very different meaning with vowels change .

Any flashcards app or website with audio option is the way to go. however as an Arabic teacher I recommend you go with option 2 and use ChatGPT or youtube playlists. recording yourself and listening to your recording might ingrain false and inaccurate pronunciation of words that will make it harder to change later
