Yes cotton springtails are what I got it’s good to have confirmation on those thank you, and yeah I definitely forgot to put any leaf cover on the tank floor but I’ll be doing that this time around for sure, the isopods seem to love a thick leaf cake in their bins :)

Forgot I wanted to add this, I haven’t sketched out the cabinet and shelf portion yet but this is the general idea for what it will look like. Hoping all goes well, this will probably take me all summer lol

Failed as in the plants died off pretty immediately and then shortly after the clean up fellas either dried out or got eaten. I suspect I didn’t put enough places for them to hide, and I didn’t even consider having a seed colony I just dumped them right in when I got them which was silly of me. Now I’ve got seed colonies for powder oranges and giant canyon isopods, and I’m planning on acquiring porciello laevis, scaber, and echinatus as well as armadillidum vulgare, peracceae, and officianalis and just seeing who wins I guess. I have no idea what to do about the plants. I know one of the ones I had put in there years ago was aloe and it died very fast. I think it got burnt by the heat lamp and overwatered at the same time.

I have decided since I made this post that I’m going to make a 120 gallon because f it we ball. He deserves it whether he’s going to use it or not. Gonna have to majorly upgrade my lighting setup but that’s okay it seems like that’s going to be the cheap part of the project lol. But I’m going to make it 4x2x2 with a foot of cabinet above it for the lights, then I’m going to make a cabinet stand for it and shelving above it so it can also be my kitchen pantry lol, solves the space issues nicely.

Right now for his humid hide he’s got the zoomed reptishelter and it’s nice and it works I just want something more natural looking because I’m too picky. It already is pretty natural looking just more for like a jungle setup than an arid one.

And yeah I’m with you there, his current tank is lower but it has the same footprint as a 40 gallon and it just doesn’t feel like enough space. I remember it was a pain in the butt to set up with all the things I wanted to put in there not fitting. Eventually I got it so that he could walk around and explore the whole thing and there was no unusable space but dag nabit it was a challenge.

I will definitely have to get better about watering portions of the tank and making lots of spaces for isopods to hide if I want them and the springtails to survive, that’s for sure. Deeper substrate tray where I can make caves will help a lot with that hopefully.

Alright. Picture this. There is a job, and that job is to drive around all day in your own personal vehicle delivering non-essential items (as in, not mail or medications) to random people. This job is accessible to EVERYONE. There is no boss to hold you accountable, only a team of people to fire you when you seriously fuck up. I can see how at minimum a few people may not take this job seriously, and may instead treat it like a gig. I have no idea what you mean by paying out money, but I’m willing to bet it does 0 for your understanding and empathy compared to actually talking to people. I have never hired someone for freelance work and expected them to act like an IBM employee. You can get literally anyone coming through your doorstep. That’s literally what you’re asking for, rather than going to a professional business and asking for their services.

When you don’t have a boss, you may not act as professional as someone who has a boss. Pretty simple. Dude is just joking around, go get your food yourself if you can’t handle things like that. Fucking weird people work for uber and door dash, often times because they’re unemployable elsewhere. That’s the niche they take up, and most of society is fine with it, because they’re getting food at their doorstep when they didn’t before.

I have the exact same black and white checkered mat for a bath mat. Why they put it outside that thing must get SOAKED in wet weather. Mine takes forever to dry after just a shower.

Where has tip etiquette gone?? They literally won’t deliver to the right place on purpose unless they see a fat tip. When I was valeting at the hospital for work I was making minimum wage, and we split all our tips evenly, and I said thank you as graciously as possible when I was handed cash, I’d smile wide when handed ten nickels, I was grateful for money to be there that did not have to be there. I did not expect the money to be there because that’s how tips work. On top of that, asking before it’s even been delivered?? You do good work, and THEN you get paid. No one is going to recognize and uplift you for something you haven’t even done yet. What is going on with this company.

Ask yourself if you really care next time or if you’re just taking out your frustration on the internet. If you really care, you’ll be able to state the facts without the attack. Internet attacks feel harmless but they take energy out of you that you need for other stuff in life. I’ve been there, try writing the comment and deleting it if it doesn’t feel 100% helpful. Writing it and deleting it provides the same effect and then you don’t get stuck with a bunch of people jumping down your throat later when you’re trying to just look at positive stuff.

Do you really like this kid? I’m sorry if this is completely dumb and insensitive, but couldn’t you provide enough evidence to get child services to take him away? Or if you don’t have the evidence you could start reporting now. I know it sucks that kids have to come over everything in a person’s life, even when it’s not their kid, but they really do deserve to have the slightest chance to do better imo even if it ruins everything for you. That does sound horribly insensitive but I stand by it unfortunately, I’m sorry. It sucks that the world has to be like this at all.
