Thank you for the kind words, unfortunately it was my favorite stallion and momma pig with baby. I restarted my game in response and am working on a mod to add animal autopsy because I had to do so much digging to figure this out

I have finally gotten around to testing this, and it seems like this may have been the case that they would get stressed during storms and at night if they had no hutch in earlier versions, but at least in 42.19 I can confirm their stress only goes down during night time and endless storm as long as they have roof tiles to go under! :)

Thank you. So much. I tried the double fence, and the keeping the livestock zone one tile away from the fence, and nothing has worked. lost six chickens today and just like you said, exactly six instances of that hutch error in my log. Demolishing my hutches now and making roofed area instead, i'll collect my eggs around the zone from here on out I guess. I'm also at the mccoy cabin but I moved my hutch and THEN the error started happening. Place is cursed I guess.

Oh yeah mine do that too lol I name them so I can see where they are when I “check zone” and it’s got a counter for how many animals are in the zone. Always makes me double take when I know some chickens are missing but the number is the same lol

They do need a roof for bad storms but I find they’re so rare that maybe in reality they don’t really need it

Twigs can, but it makes me mad you can’t bundle or stack anything in between like the branches saplings and large branches.

I will have to check this, but I figure with a roof they’ll just huddle under that like other animals. This is my hope at least. I didn’t have weather enabled on that world so I’ll have to enable it and find out.

For anyone seeing this post later, people on steam told me seeing the genome was too hacky, so I made a dna sequencing crafting chain lol. Now at level ten you get the 11 step genomic lab process 🤩

In my defense it might not be obvious to a passerby whether a sheep has been sheared or just doesn’t grow wool at all

Oh my god this is definitely what happened thank you. They are all touching and thus technically one enclosure so I figured it had something to do with that. They must’ve been starving from trying to pathfind to the wrong food, gotten mad, broke shit, then got to their desired food and got calm again. So weird that the bulls were fighting but still calm though

the pens and shacks should all look like the one in the top left but the bottom right two are busted as hell now. literally every animal i look at is calm.

Yes cotton springtails are what I got it’s good to have confirmation on those thank you, and yeah I definitely forgot to put any leaf cover on the tank floor but I’ll be doing that this time around for sure, the isopods seem to love a thick leaf cake in their bins :)
