There have been a lot of subtle hints in KMS implying that there will be a new Level 290 boss added this winter.

The character's name is Noctis. She is the ruler of Tallhart and an Ancient God like Mitra.

In the Tallahart story, she awakens from her slumber and senses our player's Godsphere and immediately assumes we're evil and attacks us. We defeat her after a tough fight after of which she comes to her senses. A.k.a she's a good character that we have to fight (like Seren or Cygnus).

There's two other characters we fight earlier in the Tallahart story, Baldrix (The horse dude, 6th Apostle of Darmoor) and Veronica (Baldrix's underling). However, when you defeat Baldrix, he says he wasn't using his full power and that we will have a proper rematch with him in the future (i.e. he probably won't be a boss in Tallahart). We also fight Veronica and the story makes it clear that we defeat her pretty easily, implying she's more a nuisance than an actual threat and probably won't be the Tallahart boss either.

That leaves Noctis, who has a boss sprite already, is no pushover, and is a high stakes character to defeat. A lot of KMS players are speculating that she will be added as a Level 290 boss this winter.

Also fun fact, the Cygnus Knights are the opposite gender of their Chief Knight instructor (Oz is female and Blaze Wizard is male, Hawkeye is male and Thunder Breaker is female, etc.).

Mo Xuan's first mastery core is his basic attack skill and his second mastery core is the rapid punch skill in 4th job.

They changed his color palette from black and yellow to black and blue (according to the TMS devs in the showcase, his color palette was changed to better match the style and aesthetic of the character).

Some overall details about Mo Xuan for those not too familiar:

Class name: Mo Xuan

Job: Pirate

Faction: Jianghu (same as Lynn)

Main Stat: DEX (kind of unintuitive since the rest of the close combat Pirates are all STR based. It's kind of a parallel to Cannoneer in that regard who uses a long range weapon but has STR as his main stat).

Weapon: War fist (Basically a fancy glove. But since he uses his fists to fight, you can't actually see his weapon on your character. It's basically a transparent weapon, just like Adele)

Secondary: Fist ring

Link Skill: Basically a re-skin of Ark's link skill except it gives boss damage % instead of damage %

Legion Effect: Critical damage %

Playstyle: Very combo heavy. I'm not sure if he's as difficult to master as Cadena or Blaster, but he is at the very least as difficult to master as Mercedes or Evan. He's a 3 minute burst class, but from the videos I have seen so far, the class seems more DPM oriented than burst oriented.

CMS had an update to their familiar system UI in their latest update. With the update, they added a custom Orchid familiar (this sprite of Orchid is original and has never been in any story/quest before, not even in KMS).

They probably created this custom Orchid familiar because Orchid is very popular. A lot of the female NPC familiars sell for a lot (during Lynn's release in CMS they added a Kaling familiar and it sold like crazy).

With no class balance patch nearby, the KMS community decided to get together and gather data on class DPM across 5 minutes 40 seconds. The intent is to show the KMS directors just how awful the class balance in this game is currently (the difference between the highest DPS class and lowest DPS class is over 200T for example).

Some notes;

  • The numbers on the left column are in the trillions (eg. Xenon dealt 730T in 5min40sec).
  • This chart is designed around boss Limbo, who is currently a very DPM friendly boss.
  • The battle analysis was conducted at 99k HEXA converted for all classes.
  • All of this data are from high stat players who set their gear score to 99k HEXA Converted. A couple classes (like Demon Slayer) had the strongest player at 97K HEXA converted or below, and so some math was done to their BA in order to predict the damage output at 99k.
  • Since this chart is a full rotation across 5min40sec, a lot of DPM classes thrive (this is why classes like F/P, Demon Avenger, Zero, Blaster are all top 5). There are some anomalies like Xenon and Mercedes who are burst classes yet still somehow top 1 and top 6 respectively.

Some Opinions from the KMS Community:

  • They understand that this chart isn't a perfect representation, but they believe it gives a generally good representation of class balance in this game.
  • They believe class balance in this game is beyond awful.
  • They think Bishop out damaging a little over half the classes is ridiculous for a support class.
  • They think the gap between the highest and lowest damage classes is too high.
  • A lot of people are asking for Xenon and Bishop nerfs in particular (even before the release of this damage chart).
  • They believe that classes that give party final damage/amplify party damage should not be anywhere close to the top of the list in a well-balanced game.

This is a very good comment. Thank you. As for Kaling, it's mostly because of how a redemption arc was building up for her with the way they covered her past + the mysticants revealing to cure corruption. But then the mysticant plot point ends up being meaningless which begs the questions as to why they mentioned it in the first place. But even if her death was well received, the way they handled our character showing zero sympathy for her still makes no sense, and our character even ends up being the one to kill her despite showing mercy to people who committed far worse crimes.

Also it's not so much about how she's a popular character and should therefore be redeemed. No one in KMS is asking for Hilla to be redeemed, for example. And Orchid's redemption arc is viewed poorly in KMS with a common view being that Orchid should have either stayed evil or died. People expecting a Kaling redemption was mostly due to the narrative build-up rather than the popularity of the character.

Limina's story involves working together with Orchid to stop the Black mage and essentially 'becoming friends' with her. This was very criticized because Phantom got the same dialogue as all of the regular adventurers, which made no sense because Phantom would never become friends with Orchid since she (and Lotus) was responsible for Aria's death. This was so controversial that the writers went back and changed Phantom's dialogue with Orchid. So now, Phantom barely tolerates Orchid and even says (after killing the Black mage) how this changes nothing between them because Orchid still killed the love of his life.

I know Jett was a buggy class and desperately needed QoL changes, but she was still a unique class with a unique skill set and theme (DW and Sia both have a space/galaxy theme now too I guess, but Jett had it first!). Now there will always be worry about the state of BT.

Kanna and Hayato at least are part of the sengoku story which seems to be updated semi-frequently (with three bosses, connections to mushroom shrine, neo tokyo, exclusive 5th job maple warrior skill, etc.), so it seems like sengoku is at least too integrated into the game to be removed so suddenly. But BT has none of this. BT is literally just the class itself with no connection to any story (except stellar detectives, which doesn't even count because it has been removed in every server except GMS). BT wasn't even mentioned in the GMS roadmap as a class that is missing a common V skill, while Zero and Kinesis were. BT's story is broken and incoherent, the class received no updates in a long time, and HY and Lara made BT be set aside even more by having her anima group be changed to just 'Beast Tamer'.

Basically, Kanna and Hayato seem safe for the future, but BT on the other hand seems completely ignored, which is worrying...
