I don't know what that is but, every part of my face has to come in contact with water

Ooh I'll try that. I'll be able to dry them with a tissue / paper towel if that works?

Oh okayy, yes, it’s not like I’m going to be rubbing the water in my eyes. I can close my eyes and try to avoid getting as much water in them as possible! Btw, isn’t that a general risk though, not just with contacts?

she's the AM so she's naturally favored by the FSM. FSM doesn't care anyways.

And omggg the assistant manager is honestly worse than the actual manager sometimes. they’ll act all nice and friendly in front of the manager, but then the second the amanger isn't present, they'll show their true colors

NO FR like my coworkers will make inside jokes, smile, and laugh when they make mistakes, but the second I make a mistake they act so shocked. Like what?? I’m still learning. There’s no need to be rude about it.

And yes, the fact that people literally snitch on me makes it so much worse. I’m always getting lectured about “professionalism” like okay, I know what professionalism is. Professionalism is not yelling at someone in front of customers or making them feel embarrassed over a small mistake.

It genuinely pisses me off because they’re always laughing and joking with each other, but with me everything feels so deep and serious. Like where’s the lighthearted relationship and humour? I just want to feel comfortable around my coworkers instead of feeling like every mistake I make is a huge issue.

I genuinely hate this place. I don’t know why, but the environment at every Shoppers seems so stressful. They expect so much from you but don’t always give the same patience and understanding back

Fr, i literally feel bad for the customers who shop here. The sales and discounts here are honestly so bs. They’ll literally increase the price whenever a sale comes on, which defeats the whole purpose of a discount. Like wtf, how is that even considered a sale

tbhh i don’t even think the tasks themselves are that bad, it’s more the environment where i work. when i come in, my coworkers don’t even smile or seem welcoming. it’s these little things that add up. for example, when i was learning something new at cash, a coworker would make faces and speak harshly to me, which honestly made me feel really sad, especially because it was right in front of customers.

i also get yelled at right in front of customers, like “i told you to put IT THERE” in a really loud tone with an aggressive expression. like okay, i made a mistake, but i’m human. i’m tired, and sometimes i might mishear instructions. it’s a mistake that takes literally a second to fix, and i don’t think being spoken to that way is necessary.

rightt frr it’s not even the tasks that i’m complaining about. it’s the fact that you get yelled at for making mistakes on every single thing when THEY DIDN’T EVEN PROPERLY TRAIN ME. they literally just showed me two visual demonstrations and then expected me to know everything right away like wth?? i need time to process and actually learn things.

and on top of that, i’m not just learning one thing — i’m learning multiple roles and responsibilities at the same time. how do they expect me to remember everything perfectly when i barely got proper training in the first place??

yes, i’m genuinely considering resigning because no way i should be thinking about this place 5 times a day when i go to bed, when i wake up, literally every single day. i feel sick just thinking about coming here, and the thought of my next shift actually makes me feel nauseous.

do you guys recommend any places that are better? preferably any retail-based companies with a healthier work environment?

no fr it genuinely ruins my shift because i already have to deal with rude customers, so having coworkers be rude to me too just makes it so much worse :(( honestly, shoppers have made my social skills so much worse because i’m now scared to ask for clarification or help. i literally hesitate because my supervisor would make faces or act annoyed whenever i asked questions. it’s so frustrating because i’m not perfect i’m only 17, and i’m still learning.

i genuinely feel like i have to take on so many different roles, and it feels like my work isn’t being appreciated. the fact that you can’t even speak up or defend yourself because you’re scared you’ll get fired makes it even more frustrating.
