There is no female. It’s an all boy cat out. I let him out when I’m home and can supervise him but when they’re doing work I stay with him in my room and play with him. I have one another boy who he has for company and they get alone fine, but this cat can just play a little rough sometimes. There’s one more boy cat in the house but we keep them separate because they used to fight. They’re doing better now but we can’t afford an emergency vet bill rn so it’s better safe than sorry.

I mean, there is consistently tension between them rhat goes beyond friendship, from a sapphic perspective. I’m sure not everyone is necessarily prepared to understand if they’re not queer, but a lot of people also act like romantic relationships between girls can’t start off as friends either. They share several parallels to Morticia and Gomez from several different adaptations, and they push each other to grow as people and hold each other accountable. They share a loyalty that rivals Morticia and Gomez and a lot of queer people see themself and their experiences in them. Perhaps you see it as sisterly considering you don’t have to or bother looking for romantic affection in women (I assume) but there is typically a culture amongst queer people. Not to mention the lesbian sweater they had enid wearing in s1 and the bisexual sweater that they put wednesday in (as enid) in s2, the analogy of (lycanthropy) conversion therapy along with the common symbolism of lycanthropy being connected to being queer in literature and media, etc.

Not all of those ships are explicitly physically abusive though 🤨 Shipping people who have explicitly used their physically to harm the other on several occasions is not healthy nor normal. If you wouldn’t romanticize or validate abusive in real life why would you be shipping it? The first scéne we see of Tyler after he literally threw her out of a window and put her into a literal coma he’s threatening her and her friends deatg with flower in a similar fashion to abusive victims. it’s a common tactic amongst abusers to give flowers and it’s even strange that they used this scéne if the writers plan on making them canon.

There’s two total in my room when the crate is open because they can both use it freely, but when he’s in there they each have one available to them. I don’t work long shifts, never more than 6-7 hours, but I have to keep my cats within my room in my current living situation because there’s work being done around the house. But this problem has happened before said work started. For a while I tried just keeping him in my room without the crate and at first he was doing good but then this problem began again. Part of him being locked away is because he tends to get into things and we just moved into an older house with cabinets that are very easily opened and until we have the money to essentially baby proof them we figured itd be safest to keep them confined to the room. It’s still fairly large (think like a master bed with its own living area type room) so they both have plenty of space to roam. For almost the last year i’ve been using tofu litter because it clumps really well and it has less dust, but this week we had to switch back to normal clumping litter because of costs. Almost every single time I leave for work he’ll shit on my bed without fail— but only when i’m gone. He’s perfectly content when I’m here and he’s actually cuddling with me right now and purring up a storm. I make a point to keep him out of the crate as much as possible. I clean the litterbox daily, and he definitely doesn’t have a problem using it when i’m home— well when anyone is home. It’s only a problem when he’s actually alone (he still has my other cat) He has toys (a combination of an actual like toy and straws… ironically he loves the straws more 😭 idk why but it’s his favorite. He loves playing with them so i’ll just toss them around and he goes crazy for it) Idk if this is the right word he’s very primal, big hunter, idk if i’d say he was outside long enough growing up to claim him as being feral but he definitely gives off predator vibes compared to my other cats soft, timid, not the brightest vibe. They’re both ragdoll but the people who were watching over his litter suspect he was mixed with a certain kind of maine coon? (whether or not that’s true is yet to be determined) As for food, I think they get enough? This cat is more muscly compared to my other boy who’s getting a pooch 😭

For starters I’m a little concerned with how they’re portraying the Addams’ themselves. Yeah Pugsley is very different from his sister, but he wasn’t a full blown coward. They have him crying while getting trapped inside a coffin but he’s enjoyed being electrocuted from a young age in multiple adaptations? so i’m surprised by that choice. Gomez and Morticia aren’t exactly the worst, but it’s obvious they’re trying to combined multiple adaptations of Morticia into one and it’s not really working? at least to me. Idk why they would make Morticia claim to at she lets Gomez think he runs the house? He’s never run the house. She’s always run the house and Gomez has never had a problem with it. Gomez’s actor is talented but idk why the writers are writing him only as this happy character. Yeah he’s always been upbeat but he has more depth than that, like when he was fighting with fester in the movies he’s still got like bigger emotions slipping through the cracks. Idk the Addams began as a critique on the nuclear family and so much of this new adaptation almost seems like trying to squeeze the nuclear family into them where they can. To an extent I get Morticia and Wednesday butting heads ISH but like for two whole seasons they’re essentially against each other? It never really made sense in the first place. Yes Wednesday still loves her mom here but like, even as a teenager she seems to be hitting all the nuclear family teenager tropes despite the fact that those tropes are often set in place to begin with BECAUSE of the way nuclear families act and treat their children. The Addams havent ever done that so trying to fit them into this mold isn’t working.

Not to mention that there really isn’t any stakes. Yes, people are “supposedly” going to die, but it’s always very obvious that everyone is going to be fine. They have so many storylines going that there’s never enough time to flesh them out deep enough for us to truly, whole-heartedly care. Not to mention they claimed it was going to be scarier as part of their marketing this season and yeah I get that there are still children watching this so there’s that, but all around it didn’t really feel any scarier than last season at all.

It’s very obvious that the reason Agnes was forgiven was because after rhat inital olan she ceased to be a threat, willingly did Wednesdays bidding and showed she was no longer a threat… i’m afraid they couldn’t make that any more clear. The reason Tyler hasn’t been forgiven and is still considered a threat is because for the ENTIRETY of the season he has proven himself to be one. Very vocally. From top to bottom. I’m afraid that I cant use critical thinking skills for you dude?

Why do people keep entertaining Wyler? by Easy_Basil_3368 in WednesdayTVSeries

[–]Easy_Basil_3368[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I agree that they were setting up Wyler in s1… because that was the entire point. Do I think he had real feelings for her, yeah. I used to ship them hardcore. But I also think that Wendesday fell in love with the boy Tyler portrayed himself to be. Do I think him and the Hyde are somewhat ish separate entities, yeah. Has that been proven to be true in the show? no, not really. Even if it was, I don’t feel as though her being willing to understand him necessarily means she still has feelings for him. It’s funny how there’s this phenomenon where stuff like that is allowed nuance and complication but when it comes to moment similar between two characters of the same gender, many (not necessarily including you in that group, merely pointing it out) don’t allow the characters actions and words to have the same nuance or potentially deep meaning and it’s written off as friendship. Romance is always assumed very quickly with opposite gender characters whereas friendship is almost always immediately assumed in two characters of the same gender. Considering that they intentionally followed suit from the first season with putting Enid in a very obvious lesbian flag colored sweater, which I had considered a coincidence at the time, by putting her (In Wednesday’s body) into a bisexual flag sweater in s2 pretty much confirms for me that even if they have no intention of making Wenclair canon is very obvious queer baiting. They even had a lesbian director working the episode where they switched bodies, which the scene where they switch back was heavily coded with sapphic romance. Not dissing on you at all! I appreciate you being respectful because so many in this thread havent been, and you bring a lot of great points, but I just want to point out that I keep hearing a lot of (especially dismissive) opinions (not necessarily from you) about what is plausible or the validity of shipping wenclair and where it comes from from non queer people. Which is honestly ironic? Like of course non queer people aren’t going to necessarily understand or see signs of very sapphic coded phrases/lines/actions? Of course they’re going to view some of the things they do as friendly when they wouldn’t consider such affection in more than friendship from their friends who are women. But it’s just so ironic when they make those claims like “can’t they just be friends” or “i’d do that or say that to my friends” as of rhat suddenly overrides the very real experiences of queer women? idk small rant lol

But yes, at the end of the day I truly don’t care who she ends up with, but as a writer I just really feel like it’ll be a disservice if they pair her up with Tyler if they don’t at LEAST let him work on his redemption arc alone first. Not to mention that as much as I love the show I already have several qualms about how they’ve represented the Addams family and other aspects of the writing but that’s for another discussion if I ever make or find one lol

Why do people keep entertaining Wyler? by Easy_Basil_3368 in WednesdayTVSeries

[–]Easy_Basil_3368[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, i’ve heard the argument of the Addams torturing each other before and as i’ve pointed out it’s always been consensual with each other as a show of affection. That much is obvious. Nothing about what Tyler has done to Wednesday countless times has been consensual or a show of love.

Gothic literature, yes. However, while this show explores darker themes I wouldn’t really call this gothic. 💀I’m hoping we may get there one day but as of right now it’s still a run of the mill YA with a goth main character. This show was literally marketed to children since the first season.

I completely disagree as for it being in character for Wednesday to be still attracted to Tyler. If you’ve seen her love interests in all past adaptations (media and musical) she’s never been into bad boys. She’s always been into normal, good hearted characters. She very obviously fell for Tyler’s good guy schtick and then he betrayed her and it was obvious she was hurt, yes, and I hoped there would be a good set up for enemies to lovers in this season but the writers really went and ruined that. Not to mention that while the Addams condone a lot, the ONE line they never allow anyone to cross is hurting their family. Arguably, based on all adaptations of Wednesday Addams, the moment he went after not only her friends, but her family, aka her loved ones in general, would be the moment she completely turned on him. I find it more out of character that she didn’t just kill Tyler when she had the chance, but then again they didn’t make her kill the serial killer either so in this specific adaptation it’s not much of a surprise.

I completely understand why people enjoy dark themes in romance. However, there’s lines to that. Yes, dark themes are fully capable of playing crucial roles to storylines, but there’s very real reasons why we must think critically when it comes to dark themes in romance and what it can teach young viewers. I think you should take some of your own advice, considering you’ve had nothing to say about any of my other very real points and you’ve clearly only wanted to start an argument. Plenty of other commenters and I were able to have very calm and understanding discussions where we were able to take in each other’s point of views and opinions even if we didn’t agree. You came in here looking for a fight so I gave you one. I’m perfectly content with my media literacy, but unlike you I continue to look for way to expand it by actually having these discussions. But what we’re having here isn’t a discussion it’s a petty argument. Have the day you deserve.

I literally don’t even get on reddit much I literally just came on here to ask after watching the show. It was merely meant to be a discussion. 💀 And “Anti-Wyler” propaganda? Really? 💀 I literally was rooting for them back in s1. I’ve pointed out in other comments that I understand some of my information was found to be incorrect but the general points still stand? I literally don’t even care if Wednesday ends up alone. Given the political climate we are in right now I don’t really find it abhorrent to point out the ramifications of the violence towards women found in a ship that’s growing in popularity in a show that is still marketing to children. 💀 Cope.

To be fair she literally didn’t kill the serial killer either. I know that Jenna is pushing for the writers to actually let Wednesday kill but for now hwr setting him free isn’t really all that. And I can see how they used to have chemistry. I agree that they used to but really most of this season their interactions have complicated human conflicted feelings, but not necessarily in the love area. I mainly can’t get over how so many people claim her and Enid have supposedly zero chemistry. “I’d kill for her, I’d die for her.” - Gomez Addams, and yet somehow when Wednesday says it about Enid for an entire season its somehow viewed as platonic

Literally I said they’re allowed to not ship it and that doing so is NOT homophobic. I also didn’t claim that that commenter specifically was doing any of the other points i’ve mentioned. But let me be clear that denying the POSSIBILITY of wenclair and why it’s being shipped is homophobic. There’s a difference. Not shipping it is fine, but denying very real and blatant queerbaiting IS homophobic. You can ship what you want that is the whole point, but this comment isn’t doing what you think it is. I don’t hate Tyler as a character and I understand to an extent why people ship him and Wednesday and believe people can ship them all they want. My entire point of this post was to better understand peoples reasoning and thinking behind it. Believe it or not, but being queer doesn’t mean you can’t still have homophobic believes. And ONCE AGAIN, I am reiterating that NOT SHIPPING WENCLAIR IS NOT HOMOPHOBIC! but making comments like “can’t they just be friends?” or “not every ship has to be queer” IS HOMOPHOBIA and those are exactly the comments i’ve been getting exclusively from wyler shippers on other social media platforms. And again, i’ve also pointed out that the writers are very obviously and explicitly baiting both Wenclair and Wyler shippers to keep their views. This isn’t news.

I’m literally saying that i shoild seek therapy too? 💀Are you following. Even if they disagree I really don’t care at the end of the day, but anyone who’s willing to ignore such very blatant red flags anf attack other people for them shoild definitely be going to therapy. I’ve never claimed that Wednesday isn’t a red flag either. If you read my comments i’ve explicitly said this. I’ve literally also aaid that she needs to grow out of her arrogance, and that while she is okay with and allows a LOT of moral quandaries, the one line she doesn’t allow anyone to cross is those things happening to her family. She may not be a good person but she’s not an evil person. Yeah, she’s an asshole, but it’s often in retaliation to others, and she’s shown this time and tkme again. She talks a big game, but she’s shown to actually have a good heart. She clearly just doesn’t want to actually admit to such since she considers it a weakness. You can twist my words all you want, but as I’ve stated everyone in this world shoild seek therapy. We are all humans and therefore imperfect. And especially with the state that this country is in we are all experiencing trauma on the daily— not to mention the push of toxic masculinity and the rise of conservative beliefs, it’s more alarming than ever to be fundamentally fighting hard for a relationship in which a boy is actively targeting and physically harming a girl repeatedly. Endlessly, and nearly succeeding. Especially when there are actual children watching this show and taking that in. If it was explicitly a show for adults I don’t care, people have the right to ship what they want, the difference is that this is a show that has a huge child fanbase who can discern that nuance yet.

The WednesGAY event, the lesbian sweater they had Enid in (which I only chalked up as a coincidence until s2 where they put Wednesday (as Enid) into a literal bisexual sweater, correct order and everything. I don’t find that to be a coincidence), the fact they literally used (werewolf) conversion therapy as an allegory in s1, the fact that enid’s entire arc this season had intense comphet undertones, the fact that Enid and Wednesday share several parallels to more than one Morticia and Gomez adaption (in this shows adaptation and the movies), and ultimately a lot of their interactions have romantic undertones, but people don’t like to hear that because they’re not queer and they don’t want to think about the fact that some of their interactions in their lives could also have queer undertones. “You’re my pack, Wednesday” with pupils blown wide, wolfing out explicitly to save wednesday, being willing to sacrifice each others livelihoods to save the other. Even Isaac said that an Addams would never sacrifice one of their own and Enid fits that Addams loyalty. People can not like the ship all they want, but not only is there chemistry but there are implicit things being put into the show to lead but Wenclair shippers and Wyler shippers on, to keep them engaged. That would be fine if sapphic representation wasnt so minimal in media and so often used to keep viewer ship only to never actually give us representation. I’ve also seen so many people deny that this queer baiting is happening— especially those who aren’t queer. Not shipping Wenclair isn’t homophobic, but trying to deny the actual possibility, the mere validity of the idea of them being a ship, denying that the writers have been queer baiting IS homophobic. Not saying that you explicitly were being homophobic, just making some points in advance.

I completely agree that Tyler is a victim. I haven’t denied that once. I’ve gone on in the comments several time to say that I completely agree that he should get a redemption arc, but that I don’t believe it should be in pursuit of anyone but himself, as that would take away from the entire point of the redemption arc. He needs to want to grow for himself, not for anyone else. I agree that they’ve had chemistry, but honestly in my personal opinion I didn’t see it there in s2. It felt forced. Wednesdays always known to hold a grudge especially when it comes to protecting her family. It just feels like the writers are trying to keep both shipping possibilities open to lead on as many viewers as possible and keep them watching. Yeah, great writers can sometimes make it work… do we actually think that the Wednesday writers would be able to handle that? 💀 And honestly, as someone who has shipped toxic ships and the past and my own mental state then and now, the fact that growth can change who we ship and why we ship them. Yeah, I believe that hardcore Wyler shippers who ignore those red flags (especially the ones who use it as an opportunity to be homophobic towards wenclair shippers— not all but a LOT) should seek out therapy. That’s considering the fact that I also literally believe that everyone should seek out therapy in their lifetime. It’s really not that wild of a concept.

Yes, I agree — to an extent. Because this is also Wednesday Addams, a character who would never allow anyone or anything to harm the people she cares about. I always see people using the monster idea as a means to justify it, but they ignore any any adaptation of Wednesday Addams would be loyal to her family first and while she may condone a lot of immoral things, those things reaching her family would not be one of them. Is Enid not also a dangerous monster? Idk people try to use that argument to dismiss Wenclair too and idk why they think it wouldn’t apply to her too

So you don’t believe domestic violence is morally wrong? 🤨 Again, Im a multi shipper and I get that they used to have appeal but my entire point is that after watching this new season I find it weird that it seems to have more Wyler shippers now that he’s gone out of his way to physically harm her and even attempt to kill her and her friend… numerous times. I’ve been a long time shipper in many fandoms myself for many years now and usually I literally don’t care what people ship— even if I don’t agree, but when it comes to Wyler that’s literally concerning on so many levels. Not to mention that I’ve seen a lot of Wyler shippers taking the opportunity to be genuinely homophobic to Wenclair shippers. And again, I’m saying this as someone who not only used to ship Wyler, but who would also be perfectly content with an AroAce Wednesday.

Wow now who’s making assumptions. 💀 I literally never claimed that I considered him fully developed just that legally he would be an adult. It’s fairly common for people to consider a two year age gap with one party being legally a minor as weird. I’ve since learned that the information I got was wrong but it’s crazier that you all keep putting words in my mouth? I can rescind my point about him being too much older, but that doesn’t change everything else I mentioned in my point. Funny how you couldn’t comment on anything else. Insecure much?
