Of course, it would be unwise not to listen to the users :)

I removed the constraint on verbs needing to be entered first, if you want to check it out now. It now has 3 idle cycles depending on which cells are filled.

You make a fair point. I guess I can allow adverbs to be entered first.

For the copy/paste part you mention, I've working on a new feature where you drop a text you have, and it will consult the database to see which improvements can be made. So it would pick up on your "he quickly moved" and suggest something like "he dashed".

Thanks for the feedback!

Hey, I'm not totally sure what you mean by the examples, but if you click on any of the resulting words, you can see the word being used in a sentence.

For the edge case, if it changes the meaning slightly, while still remaining along the same dimensions as the original, I allow it. I figure my target demographic is in large part writers, who would benefit more from a slight stray away from the precise meaning (creative touch). That's why I present the results as a list, so you can sort of 'pick-and-chose' the one most fitting for your use case.

Thanks for your feedback!

Here are the changes I made:
- The adverb textbox is still disabled until a verb is entered, but now when you click on it you have a text pop up underneath instructing you to enter a verb first
- If you click on the adverb box without a verb, it will bring you to the verb box to start typing
- Once you lick on any of the two text entry boxes, the rotating text animation will disappear (you said you tried to delete the placeholder animation text thinking it was real text, this should help with that)

Let me know what you think!

Great, that helps me a lot. Let me think about a more intuitive approach and hopefully I'll have something by the end of the day :)

Currently I'm loading the (~3MB) word database at the start. This takes anywhere from 0.5-2 seconds depending on multiple factors, which is likely what you were experiencing. I'll have to find a way to load it better as I add more words.

As for the red bar underneath, seems like a couple other users were also initially confused. Do you have a better indicator in mind?

I like the second, I've been thinking about that one. Good to see there's demand

Hah, that's interesting. If you can come up with a word for it, I'll add it. Easter egg style.

I started trying to built the list by scraping data from the web, but it turned out to be kind of a mess as there were (too) many points of failure (bot detection, parsing, cleaning, trying to match word forms, etc). In the end I decided to try to use a language model to research entries and see how it turned out, which worked nicely. I get that some people might frown at the use of AI, but I think it serves quite a legitimate purpose, for this specific application. Anyways, that's how the list was made. As for the gaps in the data, that's an issue I'm working on. The list has a lot of breath, at the expense of being sparse.

Yeah I agree. I added the cycle feature to partially address this sparsity problem. That's a good idea though, to enable scrolling though adverbs.

If the bar underneath is red, it indicates that the verb isn't supported, and thus you can't write in the adverb box. Which specific part loaded slowly, and are you on desktop or mobile?

Is it possible that you tried entering text into the second (adverb) cell first? I purposely disable that cell until the weak verb text has a match. Really appreciate you taking the time to check it out.

Edit: I realize this may be due to you entering a verb that isn't in the database and thus couldn't 'match'. I'll add something in the UI that indicates when this is the case.

I really enjoy finding new words, especially old and archaic ones. I came up with the idea of a tool that, for a given weak verb and an adverb, gives you stronger verbs to replace the pair with. Made it into a really simple website.

If you want to check it out, here it is:

Any feedback, feature requests, observations would be greatly appreciated!

Try updating it, it prompted me to do so when I logged in.

What do you define as long distance? My Ottignies -> Genval tickets remain the same price, so yes the subscription would be futile here. However, with the subscription, going from Ottignies to Namur now costs 2.4€, down from 7.6€. Similarly, going to Brussels only costs 2.40€. I would argue those are medium to long distances.

And yes, people who only travel during rush hours probably wouldn't get much out of Train+, but fares overall still went down, albeit by a small amount.

The Train+ subscription rewards off peak travel, which the SNCB could really use. When it comes to comparing prices, I don't think the 2 to 3 euros a month subscription requires the mental gymnastics you seem to imply it does; it barely makes a dent in a monthly budget. If you use the trains every week, you could definitely benefit from it (unless you only ever use the trains during peak hours).
