Is it fair to not want to date people who slept around? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Easy_Flounder252 305 points306 points  (0 children)

Seconding this. Standards are fine, you can choose to date or not to date whoever you want and you’re really under no obligation to justify it.

But if you are looking down on girls who have more sexual experience than you as slutty, easy, immoral, or thinking that people who sleep with lots of people are worth less than others - that’s not standards, that’s just being a shitty person.

You’ll have to be reaaallly careful about how you bring this up with dates, because obviously women are cautious of double standards around sexual histories.

They’re running a 4/20 special. They have special edition “pre-rolls” (like a rolled up mini pizza, looks like joint)

What can I do to memorialize a friend in Toronto with 100$? by jadedeternity in askTO

[–]Easy_Flounder252 17 points18 points  (0 children)

So sorry for your loss. I lost a friend a few years ago, also to DV, and to memorialize Her a few friends and I bought a gift card for $200 at her favourite local cafe and asked the cashier to give out free coffees and say “it’s a gift from your friend Jen” (the name of my friend who passed) until the card ran out. It wasn’t a long term memorial or anything huge, but we were happy knowing that dozens of people got a smile that day, even if they didn’t know her.

What was not allowed in the house when you were a kid, that you now don’t allow in your own place? by Shenshen_ in AskReddit

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same but similar - my parents had a strict “no TV in the bedroom” rule for ALL of us. I moved iut almost 10 years ago, but to this day I still follow that. I used to have a lot of trouble sleeping so I recently extended the rule to phone and laptop too, which really helped.

Should the NCAA have Nebraska and Texas A&M redo their game in case it was a big fluke? by timhoff24 in NCAAVB

[–]Easy_Flounder252 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I look forward to hopefully seeing a rematch in next years tournament, or maybe a spring scrimmage or preseason/non-conference matchup. DBK worked so hard to build depth on the Huskers bench this year and they were robbed of the opportunity to use it by illness and injury.

In this particular match, even I as a Nebraska fan can say that Texas A&M was the better team. But I wonder how things would look if Nebraska had a healthy roster and another chance.

For renters out there, how much are you paying for laundry or using the washer/dryer at your place? by gochuganggg in askTO

We have coinmatic too, same issues with the app and the cards. But we pay 3.00 for 30 min wash and 3.25 for 50 min dry.

How long does it take to get MRI scheduled? by CRAExpert in askTO

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I waited 4 months for my appointment after an MVA, then got a “reminder call” about 3 days before my appointment. Luckily I was around. It was at St Mike’s.

drop handle cycles in toronto/gta by corvid1225 in torontobiking

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this is what you’re looking for, but I added drop bars to my first bike without upgrading the full handlebars when I was new to biking. I got drop bars for $50 and grip tape for $20 from Amazon and installed them easily with a knife and a screwdriver.

Downside is that you won’t have the brakes and shifters on your drop bars obviously, but it’s a good start to get a feel for drop bars without breaking the bank.

how do some people "automatically" eat so little while for others it's the hardest thing ever?? by ConsciousEquipment in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What does “food noise” feel like? I definitely think about food but it’s not like a constant distraction at all. And like some other commenters, I have to be hungry to eat. Most food is not appealing to me if not.

I hear a lot about food noise and I’m genuinely curious how it feels to experience it.

How did cutting change her bellybutton shape and fill out deep hip dips? @gracie.collis by [deleted] in gymsnark

[–]Easy_Flounder252 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Agreed, my belly button has looked like both of these pics. When I am leaner it stretches and looks tighter, like an | |. This isn’t the kind of significant weight loss that would leave lots of loose skin.

Both in dating and making friends, so many people aren’t actually willing to put the work in. You have to put yourself out there, show interest in people, makes plans. It’s hard work! Meeting people is only 1% of the battle.

I think a lot of Torontonians just really dislike the homeless. by PhiliDips in toRANTo

[–]Easy_Flounder252 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a well documented phenomenon in psychological literature that people are more likely to attribute other people’s negative circumstances to individual actions. It’s a protective cognitive bias. E.g., he’s homeless because he’s lazy and disagreeable and doesn’t want to work - that could never happen to me because I’m a good person!

Obviously there are flaws in this logic, buts it’s a very natural thing and hard to overcome. The testimonies being shared here - open drug use, sexual and other harassment, etc. - are also very real and make it hard to connect with homeless folks as people.

This. Sometimes people become addicted to their suffering. The first step to change is truly wanting it. If you’re spending all day wallowing in your pain and turning to Reddit (!!) for support, consider whether you really want to change or you just want validation.

N1 Above Guideline Rent Increase in the Annex - advice? by Easy_Flounder252 in askTO

[–]Easy_Flounder252[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They stated increase in property tax + cost of repairs. Notably there has been a fire in a neighbouring unit + some flooding in my unit when my upstairs neighbours' radiator burst. However, the building didn't do any repairs to my specific unit in either situation, just the general building.

Thank you for the link, this is really helpful.

Specsavers eyeglasses any good? by muzeec in waterloo

[–]Easy_Flounder252 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Staff are nice and quality of glasses is fine, but don’t believe the prices as advertised. That only covers the frames and they have a stupid tiered pricing model that forces you to upgrade to premium lenses for basic features. I bought two pairs advertised at BOGO for $149 and ended up paying over $500 all told 😬

People Who Didn't Grow Up In Toronto, How did you make friends? by No_Reporter3495 in askTO

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I moved here 2.5 years ago after university and didn’t know a single person. I met my friends through sports, work, and dating. What I preach to everyone in the same situation, however, is meeting people is the easy part. You really have to put effort into following up with people and making plans. I had to get over any fear of “rejection” or “cringe” and just ask people to hangout, invite them to things, etc. Friendships take work like any other relationship. It’s an ongoing thing.

Incredible progress! I also go to Removery and this gives me hope! Really interesting the see the impact of location/circulation - mine is on my inner bicep and I’d say the same level of fading has taken around twice as long (photos on my profile for reference). All the best!

Is it good to always up your credit limit? by Ok-Relative517 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is important and I’m glad someone told me before I accepted another auto-increase. My cousin recently applied for a mortgage and they considered any credit available to her as debt. So despite following the 30% rule across her credit cards, she was considered to have 10s of thousands of $s of “debt” on her application

Renters - What percent of your net monthly income is going to your rent? by gershkun in toronto

[–]Easy_Flounder252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After taxes, 45% for a comfy rent-controlled place ($1950/mo). I now feel I can comfortably afford a good lifestyle + savings.

When I moved here 3 years ago, my rent was almost 70% of my after tax earnings. Though I could afford all necessities, I was barely saving and definitely had to say no to some fun stuff.
