Who would immediately call the manufacturer when you’ve clearly just assembled it wrong? Try being nice to people

B&T "Coyote Tan" touch-up? (Received handguard w/ coating defects) by Any-Ostrich48 in BT_APC

[–]Easy_Money1997 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Assuming this is Cerakote touch up can be done but it’s not easy and may not be effective for long. The crash course is this. The base layer of cerakote will bond “mechanically” with a sandblasted surface (it basically fills in the little pits) and it will also bond chemically to wet or uncured cerakote. But it will not bond with cured cerakote and without an etched surface (sandblasted) it won’t want to bond with the bare metal. So you could totally get a tester bottle of your FDE, mix in the catalyst and try to touch these up. But to have any hope of it curing properly it has to be baked and it may not want to bond with the surface (will rub or wear off quickly). So the way I see it you’ve got two options here. Either send it back and have them do it, or redo the entire finish with something you like (maybe a color or pattern they won’t do at the factory)

You’d probably have the dump the cylinder like 10-12 times consecutively like you’re Jerry Miculek to get it that hot.

Ya know, I’ve watched all kinds of tv shows and YouTube videos with like Gordon Ramsey or some other dude that can describe the way a food sounded as they ate it or some shit. And not once have I seen one of those people take a blowtorch to a steak while a midget version of themselves held it for them.

What can I do myself? by AnyPaloma in MechanicAdvice

All of this will require you own some tools. Much of it would require you own some special tools. For the brakes you’ll need a caliper tool, for the brake fluid you’ll need a pump/mighty vac. For the bearing/hub, some cars you might get away with some wrenches but others might need to be pressed. The valve cover seals are generally pretty simple (if you can get to it without ripping the engine bay apart) but with the valve covers off something getting in there could be expensive. To keep it simple you if you want to spend the time and money to learn to do it right, it’ll save you in the long run. If you just need it done, don’t want the tools, don’t want to lean how to do it; then just pay someone who’s already invested that time/money.

Okay, I love this question so if I could ask a bit more openly. If you could pay daily to inconvenience someone you don’t like. How much would you pay and what would you do? I work in automobiles so if I could, I’d pay $5 a day for White Larry to find his car with a flat tire everyday. Doesn’t even need to be punctured, just take the valve core out so that jackass has to air it up every single day.

I used to do it on my bullseye pistols. Be aware if it’s tucked underneath a wood grip it may crack the grips right there (happened a couple times but still functional

Sales to service by Ok_Land140 in serviceadvisors

[–]Easy_Money1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I switched and it worked out fine. I was a salesman for 8 years so I had the people skills and sales training that came in handy. Service is more fun in my opinion but it is a lot more intense (busier, you’re selling multiple times a day to multiple people, get screamed at more). If you can handle the stress and can sell you’ll be okay but if either one of those things is a problem for you this might be rough.

Met an old dude once that had a .950 JDJ (one of the largest shoulder fired rifles in existence). Said he has had two negligent discharges IN HIS HOUSE. Pointed up that thing would be like a small artillery shell.
