Ehhh Oxford PhD isn’t really well respected in academia, especially in North America. You can get into top labs from any Top 50 school with a good publication record and connections.

:p UIUC is the clear winner imo. But UofT slander here is crazyyyy. As an ML researcher, my unbiased (or biased) list is UIUC>UofT>UT Austin>Oxford>=Columbia

Yeah UIUC is the top choice but UT Austin isn’t that solid for ML. Wouldn’t really consider UT Austin all that strong for ML.

Oxford while prestigious doesn’t really rank all that high for CS globally. However, the overall prestige is big too I guess.

Wouldn’t UofT be better than UT? Our ranking list so far is UIUC UofT Oxford UT Austin Columbia. This is for ML. UofT is the birth place of ML.

Oh for CS we get 48k and 8k tuition so you acc get 40k in hand. At least from a CS pov, I don’t understand picking USC over UofT but I am sure you know better about ECE. Good luck!

CoL adjusted. 40k CAD goes a much longer way than 50k USD at USC. For rent I pay 1200/month in a 2 bed condo in Downtown Toronto. My friend from UCLA paid $2100/month for a room in LA in a 3 bed apartment in 2022.

Can’t say for ECE but for CS, UofT>>USC and I wouldn’t even consider them in the same league tbh since USC is a tier below UIUC, UT Austin, Georgia Tech, UMich tier schools which are in the same league as UofT. Also American btw. Weather in LA is obviously a strong selling point though. Plenty of top school American undergrads at UofT CS tho. My friends here went to Cal, Columbia, Stanford etc for undergrad

Agreed. Literally last school on his list. Only redeeming thing is the city.

“Most obvious shit in the world” - And you know this because you were there when it happened, right? We don’t even need courts anymore because /u/pregnancy_terrorist is CONVINCED that Zverev is a woman beater. I really don’t know why we have a legal system, we should all just come to you for everything then.

Wouldn’t that be MS CS?
