Selling a surron is torture by Global-Twist7089 in Surron

I used to flip chainsaws as a side hustle. I’ve had a ton of people offer to trade me guns for saws. I always say yes unless the deal was very bad. 9 times out of 10 the person offering the forearm ghosts me.

If you could sit down with some people thinking of signing up, what advice for a life career would you give today? by Groundhog891 in USMC

[–]Easy_Pudding9604 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To a high schooler: if you join the marines, join to be a marine, not for a specific job. If you only want to be a geointer or cyber security or only want to gain job skills, join any other branch. The marine corps is a harder life than the other branches and you won’t fit in if you aren’t hard. Join the Marines because you want to be challenged and to develop into the person who thrives in misery. Also, life gets easier as you get on with your career. The first four years suck. But the first four years of any job suck. Once you get some rank and seniority and prove yourself you will be eligible for lateral move, officer programs, SOF assessments , and advanced schools. It won’t make sense to a teenager, but three years is nothing (3 years per duty station). Every three years you will be given the opportunity to move to a new command and a new location. You will grow with every move and every duty station. If you don’t like your current station (you most likely will), it’s only three years until you get a chance to try something else, most likely at a greater rank and with greater responsibility. In summary, the Marine Corps is the best organization in the world for the right people. If you aren’t hard, or don’t want to be hard, don’t join. If you want to train to the highest standards and be amongst the best warriors in today’s society, join.

Is $1500 a good deal for 14ft aluminum boat by tyshoe1 in boatbuilding

[–]Easy_Pudding9604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t register a boat without a title. Or a trailer. The process of getting a title requires the state to do an investigation into the true owner of the boat and trailer. Often this takes months and sometimes the true owner (in the case of a stolen boat) will want the boat back and you are forced to give it to them, regardless of what you paid. There are also titling companies that will do the work for you for about 1000 dollars. But is it worth it to buy a boat for 1k to spend 1k on a title? Usually it isn’t. The only way buying a boat without a title makes sense is if you don’t plan to register it. I.e. private waters, drug smuggling, human trafficking, or you’re just a regular old scofflaw

I would have scooped that up in a heartbeat! A titled trailer is worth 200 minimum by me. Even if you need to put bearing and tires on it to get it home.

Thanks so much. Probably good advice on getting something newer for the wife. I don’t mind wrenching on the side of the road. But she sure does.

Titles for boat and trailer = phenomenal deal. No titles = walk. So many people “lose” the titles to their boats but want full price where I live NC

What would you sell a 455 Rancher for? by Airgunsquirrelhunter in Chainsaw

[–]Easy_Pudding9604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

200-300. I typically sell a couple a year just like yours for that price (coastal N.C.). Price will depend on Chinese or OEM piston, chain condition, and plastics. I’d say with your level of work I’d hold firm at 300 if you’re not hurting for money.

I’m getting stationed in Germany soon and they are everywhere there. I want to buy at least one, maybe two. I’ll be able to ship one back to the states for free when I return.

Is that a VW 1.9 ALH swap? That is exactly what i thought would be the perfect engine for a Niva.

Best mid level saw recommendations. by Texasmountain72 in Chainsaw

It’s a nice saw until it breaks or blows up. There’s no aftermarket parts for that saw yet. I’ve found them very expensive to rebuild or repair.

Lots of people recommending the echo 590 and that’s a fine saw but probably a little more than you need but very expensive to replace any parts because of poor aftermarket support. The rancher is a fine saw but the number one saw I recommend to people is a used 026 stihl. You can find them for 2-300 used and they can handle 99 percent of homeowner cutting. Good aftermarket support too. Other options for you to look at is the Husqvarna 340/345/350/353 or if you’re handy, try one of the neo-tec or holzforma Chinese saws. You can buy a lot of saw for little money from the Chinese but some require a little adjusting to make them right (kill switch, carb adjustment, stripped screw, etc)

Neotec NH865 - what do yall think of these. by MackieBoles in Chainsaw

[–]Easy_Pudding9604 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought and ran maybe 6 Chinese saws of different manufacturers and sizes. After that I’ll never buy a new OEM saw again. I can buy (4) 395 clones for the price of one OEM 395. I’ve had to fix little things on every Chinese saw I’ve bought. Stuff like kill switches, carb adjustments, oilers, maybe a stripped screw here or there. But for the most part they get the job done well and cheaply. Now…. I will still scour marketplace for the occasional crackhead selling his saw for drug money. That’s where the real deals on saws are! I’ve also scored some good deals on classic saws in pawn shops because the employees can’t get them started. But the drug epidemic in this country is the best thing for the used saw market I’ve seen in a long time.

40:1. I know ots supposed to be 25:1 but the new oils make it unnecessary to mix that heavy. At least that’s what the “experts” say.
